General Announcements

All freshman students that paid for a SBA pass, and had their ID punched, please take your ID to the Guidance Office and they will issue you a new one.

Reminder: The deadline for Juniors and Seniors to complete the Military Opt-Out form is today September 28, 2007. Forms are available in the Guidance Center.

If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball! DECA Dodgeball is coming. This year's tournament will take place on October 9th from 6-9 pm in the Sitting Eagle Gymnasium. Have a team captain pick up a registration packet in the Business Office by today, Sept. 28th. The fee is only $3 per player. If you aren't playing, come watch and win some prizes.

Pick up your Homecoming pictures in the Attendance Office.

If you ordered a yearbook last year it includes the DVD. Please present an ID to pick up your DVD in the Attendance Office.

Attention all warriors interested in joining FCCLA. Our next meeting will be on Monday October 1st at 2:30 in room E2. We will be planning our first few community service projects and selecting members to attend leadership training on October 26th. Snacks will be served! See you there Arapahoe!

Your Warrior Marching Band is hosting the Second Annual Arapahoe Marching Festival at LPS Stadium tomorrow. 27 marching bands will perform from 8:30am until 10:00pm. You are all invited to attend and cheer on your Warrior Marching Band during their two exhibition performances: 4:00 and 9:45pm!

On Sunday, The Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs will be performing in the 2007 Summit Jazz Festival, at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel Ballroom (I-25 and Hampden). Arapahoe is the only youth band invited to perform at this professional jazz festival. The band performs at 10:00 am. - you're all invited to attend.

Athletics

Congratulations to the sophomore volleyball team for beating Castle View last night. The team finished a perfect week winning all 6 games they played bringing their record to 9 and 5 overall. Great job ladies.

Congratulations to the Freshmen Black volleyball team on their come-from-behind win over Castle View last night. They won 15-25, 25-12, 15-7.

Attention AHS Softball Players. Today’s practice will not start until 3:30 pm. Practice will still end at 5:00 pm.

The Warrior Volleyball Program earned their second sweep of the week as all five teams--fresh b, fresh a, soph, jv, and varsity defeated Heritage last night! Varsity crushed in just three games. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the team. Our next home game is next Tuesday against Chaparral.

Your boy’s varsity tennis team defeated Highlands Ranch on Tuesday by a score of 5-2. The varsity team also defeated Chaparral yesterday by a score of 5-2. The varsity team is currently 8 and 3 for the season and will go up against Rock Canyon today. Good luck guys and congratulations.

Spanish club will be showing the 2nd half of the award winning movie “Selena” staring Jennifer Lopez (a story about a famous Tejano singer who’s life was tragically ended at the height of her career) after school today in room C-21 at 2:30. Congratulations to the golfers who finished in first place out of 19 JV teams at Thorn Creek led by Taylor Hare”s 76 and Reid Howey’s 78. Also, Nick Davis, David Perry and Austin Wertz led the way to a 1st place finish in the City JV Championship at Littleton Golf Course.

Congratulations to the Freshmen Black Volleyball Team on their win last night over Douglas County. They won 25-21, 25-17. Come to tonight’s game vs. Heritage and cheer on your favorite volleyball player

Congrats to all five volleyball teams for their sweep last night against Douglas County! Varsity, JV, Sophomore, Freshman A, and Freshman B all crushed the Huskies. They have a huge game tonight at home against Heritage. Please come out and help cheer them on to victory! Fresh B and Soph are at 4:30, Fresh A and JV are at 5:30, and varsity is at 7:00.

We won't have a meeting next week, so come learn about what animal rights are all about and why they matter! General Announcements
Congratulations to all members of the Warrior Marching Band for scoring the highest early season score in our history at Saturday’s New Friendship Cup Competition!!! The Warrior Band scored over 77 points and was named the Grand Champion 1st Place Band for the third consecutive year!!! Two judges put the Warrior Band’s scores in the box 4, excellent category. Arapahoe won every caption award out of the 20 competing bands!!! Congrats to all of you!!!!

Congratulations the Arapahoe Herald staff for winning the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Crown Award and the National Scholastic Press Association’s All-American rating! That’s already three awards won by the Arapahoe Herald this year!

Have you ever wanted to demolish a car with a sledge hammer? Well, now is your chance and you won’t have to fence hop afterwards. This Friday during both lunches and after school, the Class of 2009 will be hosting a car smash in the circle driveway to get our team pumped for the Heritage football game. For only one dollar a swing, you can show your school spirit by dominating a car with a sledge hammer.

Come at 8:30 on Saturday morning to the West Lot for some doughnuts, bagels, and hot chocolate to help you cheer on your freshmen football team. It’s totally free of charge so come eat breakfast and watch some great football. This tailgate is sponsored by Link Crew.

The Warrior Marching Band will be performing in their first competition of the year tomorrow at Englewood HS Stadium. The Arapahoe Band is the defending Grand Champion/1st Place Band of the Friendship Cup over the last 2 consecutive years. Please come out and support your outstanding band at one of their performances tomorrow: Their Prelims Performance is at 3:45pm, and their Finals Performance is at 9:15pm. Congratulations again to the Freshmen Black Volleyball Team for their victory over Thunderidge. They won in two games 25-14, 25-15.

The Varsity Volleyball team crushed ThunderRidge last night in three games. Congrats, and thanks to everyone who came out to support the team. The team plays Douglas County at home next Tuesday, and Heritage at home next Wednesday. Good luck!

The boys Junior Varsity crushed Highlands ranch yesterday afternoon 7 – 0.

The Freshmen Black Volleyball Team lost last night in a very exciting match against Regis. The final scores were 23-25, 25-15, 13-15.

Congratulations to golfers Steven Moore, David Holtgreive, Dalton Becky, and Brian Zenk who finished 2nd out of 15 teams at regionals. All 4 golfers qualified for the state tournament led by David Holtgreive’s 72 which was the lowest score out of 58 golfers.

Congratulations to the girls’ varsity softball team on their victory over Littleton last night. The lady warriors won by a score of 16 to 6. Come cheer the girls on tomorrow at DeKoveand Park as they take on Rock Canyon. Game time is at 4:00.

Homecoming Week was a huge success! Thanks to all the clubs and sports teams who participated in the Parade. Here are the Parade results:
The Drama Club wins First Prize in all the categories judged. They had an amazing float and all the drama club students contributed so much to the event. Congrats and your club wins $250.00.
The Senior Class wins First Prize for the Class float competition. Your gorilla added sweet taste to the creative idea. Good job Seniors!

Congratulations to the Freshmen class for their victory last week with the Homecoming Dress Up Days. The Freshmen class dominated with the most participation last week. Thanks Class of 2011. We hope you had a fantastic first Homecoming experience.
The Sophomores took second place followed by the seniors and then the juniors.

Attention ALL student council members and officers! We need all of you to meet in the gym right after school to help with Homecoming Dance Clean Up. It will only take 20 minutes so please come and help us.

Congratulations to the Freshmen Football team for their convincing 21-8 victory over Gateway on Saturday. The “Defense” was Awesome for the 3rd straight week. Touchdowns were scored by Brett mentor, Sean Dolfinger and Adam Lindell. The Freshmen are currently undefeated 3 and 0 and face Heritage here at AHS on Saturday morning.

Congrats to the Varsity Volleyball team for completing a great Homecoming week of games. They defeated Ponderosa and Rangeview on Tuesday and Thursday, and had a great day Saturday at the Eaglecrest Invitational Tournament. They beat Roosevelt, #10 ranked Legacy, and Mountain View, and lost tough matches to #7 ranked Pine Creek and #1 ranked Eaglecrest. They play Regis away tomorrow night and Douglas County this Thursday at home. Come out and support the team!

Congratulations to the Girls’ Sophomore Volleyball team for their second place finish on Saturday at the Heritage Tournament. A special congratulation goes out to Lacy Rogers for being voted onto the All-tournament team. Good Job ladies.

A.J. Krumholz kicked two field goals and the defense made a terrific goal line stand to preserve a 6 to 5 JV football win over Gateway. Up next is Heritage this Saturday at 11:30.

The boys Junior Varsity soccer team defeated Douglas County 4 – 0. yesterday.

Congratulations again to the Freshmen Black Volleyball team. They defeated Rangeview last night 25-18, 25-23. What an awesome victory! Keep up the great work girls.

Congratulations to the golfers who finished in 1st place out of 14 teams at Perry Park led by David Holtgrewe and Dalton Backy with 78s. Arapahoe also finished in 1st place out of 14 JV teams at Murphy Creek led by David Perry with 77 and Nick Davis and Reid Howey with 78s. On Monday, Steven Moore, Dalton Becky, David Holtgrewe, and Brian Zenk will play in the regionals at Inverness. Good luck!

The boys Varsity soccer team defeated Cherry Creek 4 - 0 in the Warrior Invitational Tournament Championship Saturday night. This is the boys 2nd tournament championship in a row. Congrats ABK.

Congratulations go out to the Arapahoe Toms!! They won first place in the jazz division at the Elitches Spirit Fest this past weekend.
Way to go Toms! Look for us this week during homecoming; performing at the Bonfire, Pep Assembly, ½ times of the game, and riding on the fire truck during the parade.

Congratulations to the Freshmen Football team for a decisive victory over Douglas County Saturday 41-8.The warriors were led by a staunch defense that recorded 3 interception by: Brett Mentor, Justin Dodd and Joe Selzer. Special Teams touchdowns were scored by Brett Mentor and Skylar Harding. Offensive touchdowns were scored by Adam Lindell, Jarad Lombardi, Will Ratterman and Tyler Balli, Josh Escue threw 4 touchdown passes. It was a Great team effort. The Freshmen team is currently undefeated and will face Gateway on Saturday Morning at 9:00 here at AHS.

Students, if you were nominated to be on the Homecoming Royalty court, you must be in the gym for Homecoming Royalty Assembly rehearsal at 6:45am on Monday, Sept. 10th. All Royalty nominees must be at the rehearsal.

Start spreading the news AHS students!!! Homecoming 2007 starts next week!! That is right, Sept. 10 - 15th is Homecoming Week. New York, New York is our theme! Here is the dress up day schedule.
Monday, Sept. 10th is black and white formal day in honor of our Royalty Court.
Tuesday, Sept. 11th is All american hero day. Dress up in red, white , and blue or as your favorite American Hero like a fireman or military soldier
Wednesday, sept. 12th is Wacky Tacky Wednesday. Find some clothes that look really tacky together. If you need help, ask Mr. Trotter what that looks like.
Thursday, Sept. 13th is 1964 day. This is the year that AHS opened so dress like you would in the 60's.
Friday, Sept. 14th is Class Color day. You know what that means, Fresh and Juniors wear black and Sophomores and Seniors wear gold. Get all psyched up for our big Pep Assembly that day.

The Homecoming Dance is a semi formal affair. No one will be allowed to wear denim or shorts into the dance.

The boys varsity and JV tennis teams both defeated Mountain Vista yesterday. The varsity won 6-1 and the junior varsity won 8-6. Congratulations guys!

Congratulations to the ABK boys varsity and junior varsity teams for advancing to the championship game of the Warrior Classic soccer tournament. The varsity defeated Mullen 2-0 Thursday night while the JV scored a 3-0 win over Mullen. Both championship games Saturday will feature the Warriors taking on Cherry Creek. The JV game will be at 12:30 here at the high school, with the Varsity game at 7:30 at Littleton Stadium.

The boys Junior Varsity soccer team also defeated Overland yesterday. The final score was 8 - 0

Attention Wild Warrior Women…We will be having an important meeting this Thursday, Sept. in room W105 at 2:30 to discuss homecoming and decorating. Also, remember to bring $3.00 if you plan on taking part in the homecoming decoration party Thursday, September 13th after school.

Hey National Honor Society members! Tomorrow is our first meeting of the year. Come to the forum after school at 2:30 to pick up your service logs and learn about the revised guidelines for NHS!

Students, if you were nominated to be on the Homecoming Royalty court, you must be in the gym for Homecoming Royalty Assembly rehearsal at 6:45am on Monday, Sept. 10th. All Royalty nominees must be at the rehearsal.

Start spreading the news AHS students!!! Homecoming 2007 starts next week!! That is right, Sept. 10 - 15th is Homecoming Week. New York, New York is our theme! Here is the dress up day schedule. Monday, Sept. 10th is black and white formal day in honor of our Royalty Court. Tuesday, Sept. 11th is All American hero day. Dress up in red, white, and blue or as your favorite American Hero like a fireman or military soldier. Wednesday, Sept. 12th is Wacky Tacky Wednesday. Find some clothes that look really tacky together. If you need help, ask Mr. Trotter what that looks like. Thursday, Sept. 13th is 1964 day. This is the year that AHS opened so dress like you would in the 60's. Friday, Sept. 14th is Class Color day. You know what that means, Fresh and juniors wear gold and sophomores and seniors wear black. Get all psyched up for our big Pep Assembly that day. Show your school spirit by participating in all these dress up days. Your classes will receive points daily.

The Homecoming Dance is on Saturday, Sept. 15th from 8-11pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10.00 and at the door for $15.00. Tickets will go on sale Sept. 10- 15th in the cafeteria. Remember, If you are planning to invite a Non AHS student guest, you must complete guest passes and they can be picked up in the guidance office from Mrs. Oeinck. The Homecoming Dance is a semi formal affair. No one will be allowed to wear denim or shorts into the dance.

A variety of Lunchtime activities and games will take place next week. Participate and earn class points for your classes. Most lunchtime activities will take place outside on the front lawn during both lunches.

Athletics
The ABK Boy’s Soccer season kicks off tonight with the16th Annual Warrior Classic. Come out and watch the JV boys square off with Overland at 4 o'clock on the south field here at AHS while the Varsity boys meet Overland at Littleton Public School Stadium at 7:30.
Attention Warrior Bowlers. Please join us for our first meeting at the AMF from 3 to 5 this afternoon. See u there.

Hey Habitat for Humanity members! Our first meeting will be tomorrow, September 5th in room C-18. New members, come for an introduction to what Habitat is all about. Veterans, this meeting is a must if you are interested in a leadership position.

If you didn’t get your video yearbook during lunch Friday, pick one up tomorrow during lunch.

Auditions for the fall show…”Our Town” will be held today and Wed. See callboard or Mr. Earley for details. Tech sign up sheets will go up next week.

Hey Warriors—Link Crew is selling Homecoming t-shirts for 5 bucks. Look for them all week starting Wednesday in the cafeteria during both lunches. Black or Gold will be available. Don’t miss out. You definitely need one of these shirts for class color day.
