The Junior Varsity and Varsity girls’ basketball teams play tonight at Smoky Hill beginning at 5:15. The Freshman and Sophomore girls’ basketball teams play at Overland tomorrow morning beginning at 10:00. Wish them all luck in their games!

The Boy's Basketball league-leading Varsity and JV teams play at home Friday night against Smoky Hill. Come support the JV at 5:15 and the state's 5th ranked Varsity at 7:00 as they return to AHS' Sitting Eagle Gym for the first time in 2 1/2 weeks!

Hey guys…don’t let your 18th birthday go by without registering with Selective Service. There’s really nothing to it, and you’ve got to do it. After all, it’s the law and it only takes 5 minutes. Besides, you must register to be eligible for federal student loans, job training benefits, most federal employment, and enrollment in state colleges and universities. So, if you’re a guy about to turn 18, you can register at the Post Office or go online at www.sss.gov. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Snyder in the Guidance Office.

This announcement is for all 17 and 18 year old men. If you have not registered with the Selective Service, this is the time to do it. Federal law requires all men living in the US to register within a month of their 18th birthday. Registering keeps you eligible for college loans, job training, government jobs and driver’s license renewal in most states. You can get a Selective Service registration card at your local post office or register online at www.sss.gov. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Snyder in the Guidance Office. Be sure to register for Selective Service as soon as you can. Your future depends on it.

NCAA Signing Day will be held on Wednesday, February 3rd at 11:30 am in the Arapahoe High School cafeteria. All Seniors who will be continuing their athletic endeavors on the college level for Fall 2010 need to please stop by the Athletic Office before Wednesday, January 27th so we may have the correct information to honor these athletes on signing day. Looking for a great way to help beat those winter blues. . . come to the 2010 Arapahoe High School Winter Dance – “A Night in Lights!” on Saturday night, January 23rd from 7-10 p.m. in the AHS Cafeteria. Tickets are on sale in the cafeteria during both lunches. The cost is $10/person in advance and $15/person at the door. This is a Sadie Hawkins night where the ladies ask the guys and the attire is semi formal, Semi formal attire means that you are not allowed to wear shorts and/or jeans. Ladies should wear a dress or nice slacks outfit similar to homecoming, and gentlemen should wear a collared shirt and tie with nice dress slacks and shoes. Also, don't forget your Arapahoe Student ID! You won't be let in without it.

There will be a short informational meeting with registration and equipment orders. This meeting is for swimmers/divers and parents.

The Arapahoe Warriors boys and girls JV and Varsity basketball teams will be playing the Mustangs of Mullen tonight. Girls JV will play at 4:00 followed by the JV boys and Varsity girls at 5:15. The boys Varsity team will conclude the double-header with a game start time of 7:00 pm. All four games will be played at Mullen High School. Go Warriors!

The Denver Rescue Mission would like to thank the AHS girls swim and dive teams for their generous donation of toiletry items collected at the captains dinner

Congratulations to the Freshmen Boys Basketball team for their exciting and hard fought win last night over Smoky Hill 36-27.The win moves the team’s record to 7 and 3 with their next big game tomorrow at Cherokee Trail at 10:00 AM. Come out and support your warriors.

The Muse-a-palooza is a one-time fundraising event that will happen in late January, but if you are interested in reading a poem, juggling, shredding your axe, break-dancing, or just showing off that troop of monkeys you’ve been training, you MUST come to the informational meeting this Thursday in E-11 after school. Seriously, we’re looking for talent, especially if it has to do with writing or art or music, so come see what it’s about today in E11. Don’t get the blues! Support your Muse!

The Special Olympic basketball game against Mountain Vista High School has changed location and time. The game will now be here today at Arapahoe High School in the auxiliary gym at 7 p.m.

The Boys Basketball Varsity and JV teams host Cherry Creek tonight at Arapahoe. Let's pack Sitting Eagle Gym and give the visiting Bruins a warm AHS welcome! The JV game starts at 5:15 followed by the Varsity game at 7:00.

Attention all Girls Interested in Playing Tennis this Spring: There will be a mandatory meeting for all girls and their parents, who intend to play tennis this spring on Tuesday, Jan. 19 from 6:30-8 pm in the Forum. If you are unable to attend, you must see Coach Brayton in the Science Office as soon as possible.

Students, this is a reminder that tomorrow is a PLC day. Please remember that classes will begin at 9:21 a.m. on Wednesday.

Hey Arapahoe! Looking for a great way to help beat those winter blues. . . come to the 2010 Arapahoe High School Winter Dance – “A Night in Lights!” Tickets go on sale in the cafeteria beginning this Thursday, January 14th during both lunches. The cost is $10/person in advance and $15/person at the door. This is a semi-formal event, and is a Sadie Hawkins night where the ladies ask the guys! It will be a lot of fun, so don’t miss the 2010 AHS Winter Dance on Saturday night, January 23rd from 7-10 p.m. in the AHS Cafeteria.
You may pick up dance forms in the Attendance Office or in the Main Office.

Okay, I know you must be SO bummed that the Muse deadline has passed and you didn’t find a way to support the magazine. Perhaps you have an unorthodox talent that you couldn’t submit to the magazine? Well, well, well, never fear, the MUSE-A-PALOOZA is here! The Muse-a-palooza is a one-time fundraising event that will happen in late January, but if you are interested in reading a poem, juggling, shredding your axe, break-dancing, or just showing off that troop of monkeys you’ve been training, you MUST come to the informational meeting this Thursday in E-10 after school. Seriously, we’re looking for talent, especially if it has to do with writing or art or music, so come see what it’s about this Thursday in E10. Don’t get the blues! Support your Muse!

Attention girls interested in playing lacrosse this spring: optional pre-season workouts will begin on Tuesday, January 12th at 6:00 AM in the main gym. They will be held at 6:00 on Tuesday and Friday mornings through February 19th. Bring your stick, running shoes and water to each workout. Please email Coach Woodward or see Coach Levi in the Social Studies office if you have any questions.

Hey FBLA Members! Shirts are in! please pick them up from Mrs. Swank in the Business Office We also have a meeting coming up next Wednesday, January 13th to discuss districts and testing and take a group picture.

Do you want to learn how to play jazz? How about read a lead sheet? Perhaps even learn how to solo/improvise? Do you play a rhythm instrument or a wind instrument? Every Tuesday and Thursday morning during first hour the Jazz II class meets in the band room (E14). If you would like to join this creative class, please see Mr. Hackett this week.

Good news TSA… there is still time to get your State TSA Conference paperwork & money in! The deadline is today! If you wanted to attend the State conference but didn’t get your stuff in before break, here’s your chance. The next TSA meeting will be Monday after school. It is important that all members attending the State conference be at this meeting, as we will finalize Registration, Competitions and Housing.

Hey Everyone! If you are a writer or artist of any kind, this is your last chance to submit your art to the Muse by January 15th. You heard that right! The Muse magazine is extending its deadline for two weeks only. Submit art, poetry and fiction or non-fiction. Go to Muse under the Activities page for directions on how to submit. If you didn’t have time at the end of fall semester to submit something, now’s your chance to git r done!

Just a reminder to all the students that checked out books from the library before winter break, most of those books are due back. Avoid those book fines; get your books back to the library! Thanks.

Attention Students – Final first semester grades have been posted. First Semester Grade reports will be distributed in your 3rd hour class today. Students who do not have a 3rd hour class may pick up reports in the Guidance Center.

Winter Dance “A Night of Lights” will be on Saturday, January 23rd, in the Cafeteria. You may pick up dance forms in the Attendance Office or in the Main Office.

Congratulations to the Freshman Boys Basketball team for their hard fought victory yesterday against Overland High School 38-37. It was a great Defensive effort by the entire team. The team’s current record is 6 and 2 with their next game tomorrow morning at 10:00 at Grandview. Come out and support your Warriors!

All Special Olympic basketball partners need to stop by S6 and pick up their game assignments by today.
