General Announcements

Hey TSA!! All official TSA members are invited to join us for our Holiday Pizza party and meeting today, right after finals at 12:15 in E6. Anyone planning to attend the State TSA conference in February must get their TSA state registration paperwork and money in. The deadline to turn it in is at this meeting!!!! If you haven’t picked up your TSA state conference registration packet yet, please see Mr. McMullen before Thursday to get one, there are still open events that we’d like to get filled!!! This is also the absolute deadline to turn in your $18 t-shirt money. We will be getting them printed over break!!

On Wednesday, January 5th, the following clubs will have their yearbook photo taken: Photography Club, Drama Club, Drama Advisory Board, FCCLA, Special Needs Soccer, Wild Warrior Women, Chess Club, Warriors of the Word, Ultimate Frisbee, and French Club. On Saturday, December 11th, the Speech and Debate Team was quite successful. Cassie Davis and Allison
Spacek both received 4th place in Public Forum and Bronson Dowd received 4th place in Extemporaneous Speaking. Great job, Warriors!

The “Big Event” is coming up – your varsity basketball teams will travel to Heritage on Tuesday, December 14th to take on the Eagles with the girls playing at 6:00 pm followed by the boys at 7:30 pm. No Arapahoe student passes will be accepted at these games. We will be pre-selling tickets during lunches both Monday and Tuesday from 10:30 am – 12:10 pm. Ticket prices are $5 for students and $7 for adults. Let’s get ready to support our Warriors – get your tickets today!

It’s almost here. The week you’ve all been waiting for – no, not winter break – FINAL EXAMS! Finals run from December 14th through December 17th with 3 exams each day. Cafeteria service will only be open until 11:30a.m. each day. All buses will run on a regular schedule. Check with your teachers and on flyers around the school to confirm your specific testing times. Prepare & always do your best! GOOD LUCK, WARRIORS!!!

Students, please be aware that during the four days of finals the library will be a QUIET STUDY AREA only. If you do need to have group discussions for an assignment please do it in the cafeteria. Thanks for your cooperation & Happy Holidays.

Congratulations to the Arapahoe Thespians for their strong showing at this year’s state Thespian Conference! Our technical theatre students took second place in the Tech Olympics and Jillian Goodman was recognized in an individual event for her superior costume design, placing 1st in the state! Also our auditioning seniors were offered thousands in scholarship money for several universities. Way to go!

Congratulations to the Varsity Wrestling Team, finishing second place, out of 14 teams at Columbine High School. The Warriors placed 9 individuals, including four runner-ups, and one Champion, Jeff Rice. The Warriors take on Cherry Creek Thursday at Sitting Eagle Gymnasium.

Congratulations to the Girls Basketball team for their outstanding and exciting win on Saturday 59-55 over Green Mountain. The win was a Total Team effort with 5 different players contributing to a season single-game high of 8 3 point baskets. Great Job Ladies! The varsity Lady Warriors take on Heritage tomorrow at Heritage at 6:00 PM, while the undefeated Freshmen, Sophomore, and JV teams play Heritage today here at AHS beginning at 5:30. Come out and support your Lady Warrior Basketball teams.

Congratulations to the boys basketball JV and varsity teams for impressive wins over Rangeview Thursday night. The student support was excellent! Come watch some hoops on Saturday at the AHS gym as the sophomore and JV teams play at 12:30 and the varsity tips off at 2:00, all against the George Washington Patriots from the Denver Prep League.

Come support your Varsity Basketball Lady Warriors at Arapahoe as they defend our home turf against Green Mountain, Saturday at 6:30 pm.

The Freshman Girls Basketball Team plays Cherry Creek at 4:30 tonight in their first home game. Please come cheer them on.

Lady Warriors JV Basketball team defeats Mesa Ridge Tuesday, at the buzzer, 44-43! Congrats Ladies!
Come support your Varsity Basketball Lady Warriors at Arapahoe as they defend our home turf against Green Mountain, Saturday at 6:30 pm.

Tonight, the Lady Water Warriors will compete against Grandview at the Grandview pool at 4:30, please come support them!

Congratulations to the Freshman Girls Basketball Team, they beat Mullen 49-24, the team gave a great effort in all aspects of the game. Next game is Friday against Cherry Creek at 4:30, its their first home game. Congratulations again to the Freshman Lady warriors!

Last night The Lady Water Warriors defeated the Heritage Eagles with 6 new state qualifiers: Bayley Krell, Emily Mayo, Sabrina Dermody, Gabby Morley, Savannah Rose, and Morgan Turley. Tomorrow they will compete against Grandview at the Grandview pool at 4:30, please come support them!

Thank you for making the toy wrapping party a huge success. We wrapped 550 toys for the kids at Schmitt Elementary in 35 minutes. Thanks for all your help. If you are planning to go on the toy delivery on December 15th, after finals, please bring your permission slip to the Attendance Office.

Thursday, December 2nd, the Ladies Swim/Dive team beat Mullen 133 – 52. There were two swimmers who qualified for state: Emily Mayo and Sabrina Dermody. Today, the varsity ladies swim against Heritage here at Arapahoe. The meet starts at 4:30PM. December 9th, the varsity ladies swim against Grandview at Grandview starting at 4:30.

CONGRATULATIONS to our Arapahoe Warrior Varsity Cheers! The Cheers competed last Friday night at the 2010 CHSAA State Spirit Competition. Out of 47 teams in the 5A All Girl Cheer Division, our Warriors captured first place in the preliminary round with a nearly flawless routine. The girls ended up finishing 5th in the state after the final round. The Cheers will be performing their State routine at the Winter Assembly in January! Congratulations Cheers – Way to go!!!!

The Girls Basketball team have their first home game tonight against Mesa Ridge with the JV game beginning at 5:30 and the Varsity at 7:00. Come out and support your Lady Warriors.

Thank you to all who participated in the AHS Toys for Tots toy drive. We received 1256 toys for the kids at Schmitt Elementary and the Denver Indian Center, well surpassing our 1000 toy goal! We wish you all the happiness you are bringing to others. You are an incredible Arapahoe family. The wrapping party is today after school in the cafeteria. Please come help wrap. We appreciate you!

Attention all students! You will receive your 2nd Semester Schedules in your 3rd hour class today, December 6th. Please see Mrs. Flinders in the Guidance Center if you do not have a 3rd hour class today.

Pictures for Special Olympic basketball will be tonight at 6:10 pm for individuals and 6:30 pm for group pictures in the main gym.

Attention NHS members—all new NHS members MUST ATTEND the induction ceremony rehearsal in the theatre right after school at 2:20 on Monday, Dec.6. Attendance is mandatory, so please let your coaches and parents know ahead of time. Also, remember that the ceremony itself begins promptly at 7 pm on Monday, Dec. 6. Please be on time and dress formally. Lastly, we need current members of NHS who were inducted last year to help pass out programs, set up the theatre, and set up the refreshment table. You will receive volunteer hours for this. If you are interested, please see Ms. Leclaire or Mr. Smith right away.

Congratulations to the Arapahoe Toms who placed 3rd in the State Pom Championships. In finals, they performed an amazingly perfect routine. Thank you Toms for representing Arapahoe with such a high level of excellence. Way to go Toms!!
Congratulations the Freshmen/sophomore wrestling team Winning the Raider Invitational this weekend. The Warriors had two individual Champions, and many place winners.

Congratulations to the Varsity Wrestling team, placing fourth in the Warrior Invitational. The Warriors had seven place winners including two-runner up champions, Taylor Foss and J.J. Rohde, and two third place finishers, Jeff Rice, and Seth Hardcastle. The Warriors take on Eaglecrest on Thursday, kicking off Centennial League action.

Congratulations to the Girls Basketball team for their 3rd place finish in the Rock Canyon tournament this past weekend. The Lady Warriors earned the 3rd place finish with an exciting 59-56 come from behind victory over D'Evelyn High School on Saturday, it was a tremendous team effort . The Lady Warriors have their first home game tomorrow evening against Mesa Ridge with the JV game beginning at 5:30 and the Varsity at 7:00. Come out and support your Lady Warriors.

General Announcements

HO! HO! HO! We are so close to our goal of 1000 toys! Way to go Warriors! We truly appreciate all of your contributions and so will the kids at Schmitt Elementary and the Denver Indian Family Services Center. You may still bring toys to the Attendance Office. The Warrior Marching Band and Color Guard will be performing on television tonight in the Downtown Parade of Lights beginning at 8:00pm. Our band and color guard auditioned for and was picked as one of the top eight high school marching bands in the state for this prestigious parade. The band and Color Guard will also perform at the Saturday parade beginning at 6:00pm.

AR! AP! AH! OE! It’s already that time of year. Our Arapahoe Warrior Cheers and Toms compete today at the 2010 CHSAA State Spirit Competition at the Denver Coliseum. The Toms perform at 10:30 a.m. and the Cheers at 12:30 p.m. Good luck to all of our Cheers and Toms! Go Warriors!

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Basketball team for their season opener victory yesterday in the Rock Canyon tournament defeating Golden High School 44-27. The victory was a total team effort as the collective team allowed Golden only 1 second half basket. The win moves the Lady warriors into a semi- final match-up with host school Rock Canyon today at 4:30. Come over to Rock Canyon and support your team.

Today, the yearbook staff will be taking club photos. The following clubs will have their photo taken: FCA, AWARE, Muse, Art Club, FBLA, Speech and debate, Key Club, TSA, French Club, and Spanish Club. Hey freshmen! Final Exams are quickly approaching and it’s time to get your study on! Join Link Crew on Wednesday, December 8th at 2:30 in the cafeteria for Cramfest. Link Leaders and teachers from various departments will be available to answer questions and offer study tips to help you prepare for final exams. Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided. Don’t miss this opportunity to study with your friends and Link Leaders!

Just a reminder to all the students who checked out books from the library before the Thanksgiving break, most of those books are due back. Avoid those book fines and get your books back to the library! Thanks.

Hey Juniors and Seniors the After Prom Committee would like to hear from you! This is your chance to share ideas of activities you think would make After Prom the very best ever! Please write down your ideas and suggestions and put them in the box in the guidance center. We look forward to all students' ideas! This is your After Prom night, and we want to make it fun for everyone. We will take suggestions until Winter Break.

Come out and support the Lady Water Warriors this week. Today, Arapahoe is hosting Mullen for a home meet at 4:30 and Saturday they are hosting the Arapahoe Relays here. Diving starts at 8:30 and swimming at noon.

Hey warriors, your 2010-2011 Girls Basketball team opens its season play tonight at 6:15 at the Rock Canyon Tournament against Golden High School. Come out and support your team and catch some “hoop fever”.

AR! AP! AH! OE! (read like the cheer) It’s already that time of year. Our Arapahoe Warrior Cheers and Toms compete tomorrow at the 2010 CHSAA State Spirit Competition at the Denver Coliseum. The Toms perform at 10:30 a.m. and the Cheers at 12:30 p.m. Good luck to all of our Cheers and Toms! Go Warriors!

General Announcements
HO! HO! HO! We are getting closer to our goal of 1,000 toys! This morning there are about 400 toys in the building. We truly appreciate all of your contributions and so will the kids at Schmitt Elementary and the Denver Indian Family Center. We still need about 600 toys in the next 2 days, so show us your Warrior spirit and bring those toys in. You make it happen!``

Hey DECA Members! Come to S1 after school today to help tie blankets that will be donated to a homeless shelter! There will be cookies and drinks, see you there!

The Winter Band Concert is tonight at 7pm in the Theater. Pre-concert chamber ensembles begin at 6:30pm. Come celebrate the Winter Season with our three wonderful concert bands.

Congratulations to Ian Rictor on being selected as the lead alto saxophonist in the all-state jazz band. Ian is the top jazz sax player in Colorado! The all-state jazz concert will be held at the end of January in Colorado Springs.

Today’s NHS meeting is cancelled.
