General Announcements

The PSAT will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, October 31! If you signed up to take this test, please arrive at school no later than 7:15 a.m.  Be sure to check the classroom assignments that are posted in the cafeteria. Regular classes begin for all students at 11:00.  Make sure to do your best on this very important test, and please remember that Halloween costumes are not permitted until the test is over.

Juniors and seniors:  Bring your parents to the College Financial Aid Information program tonight at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria.  See you then.

Hey Warriors, this Wednesday is Halloween. As always, many of you will be planning on wearing your Halloween costume to school. Just as a reminder, you cannot wear anything that covers your face, including masks, face paint and hoods. Also remember that the dress code in your student planner is still in effect. If you are taking the PSAT that morning, please wait until after the test to change into your costume. 

The speech and debate team will hold its weekly meeting and practice after school today in C15. All members should attend.

JOHN: It's almost Halloween, and do you want to know something scary?

BRIT: You're going trick or treating as Justin Beiber?

JOHN: No, people still have not bought tickets for It's A Wonderful Life!

BRIT: But the show is almost here, I mean it's November 8th-10th at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.

JOHN: I know, and tickets are only $5.00 for students and $7.00 for adults.

BRIT: You can even buy them at lunch or go online.

JOHN: Plus you can support Food Bank of the Rockies by bringing cans to all three showings.

BRIT: Collection barrels will be located outside the theater. Thanks for your support!


Arapahoe High School was well represented at the 2012 LPS STRIDE this past weekend. We had several fellow students and teachers finish at the top in both the 5k and 10k events. Thank you to all those students, staff and family members of the AHS community who participated.  A special thank you to students representing Link Crew, DECA and the Cheer team for being at the Stride to support our school. Your time and energy were greatly appreciated!

Athletics

Arapahoe will be hosting Heritage in the 1st Round of Football playoffs on Saturday, November 3rd at 1:00 pm at LPSS.  Tickets will go on sale in the Cafeteria Thursday and Friday during lunches.  Ticket prices are $5 for students and $7 for adults.  All Arapahoe students will need to purchase a ticket for this game - no SBA passes will be accepted.  Go Warriors!  

Attention all cross country runners who have not yet turned in their uniforms or bags. The final uniform turn in is today. Please bring your clean uniform and bag to the cage at 2:30 tomorrow.  

If you have not registered for baseball yet, please do so. We don't want you to miss out on winter workouts, booster club meetings or try outs this spring. Baseball booster club is the second Tuesday of each month.  Come join us in the forum on November 13th at 7 p.m. Spread the word!

Winter Sports Registration is coming!  Girls Swim/Dive register today, boys and girls basketball on Thursday, November 1st and wrestling will take place on Friday, November 2nd.  Please bring your completed paperwork to the cafeteria between 10:30 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. during one of these three days.  Required paperwork can be picked up in the Athletic Office or online at www.ahswarriors.org.  Do not delay your registration or it will hinder your participation in tryouts beginning on Friday, November 9th!

The 2012-2013 Girl's Basketball season is finally here! All week, the girl's program is hosting a Skills Camp in preparation for the season. Come to the gym at 2:30 for some skill work before we start tryouts next week. If you want to play basketball this year, we highly suggest this important camp! See you on the court!

Sophomores, today is the last day to register for the PLAN! The PLAN is a practice ACT test; it will be given this Saturday, November 3rd. Come to the Guidance Office to register today! The cost is $12.

Attention Warriors!  The 2012/2013 Arapahoe Winter Guard would like to invite any newly interested students to come to an informational meeting today, October 29th from 7-8 p.m. in the AHS Band Room.  The Arapahoe Winter Guard is a 4 Time State Champion team and will be returning to National Competition this year!  Please attend the meeting with one parent or guardian if interested.  See you Monday!

Hey Arapahoe writers and artists!  Thank you for sending us your poems, stories and artwork last week!  We are still taking submissions, so keep them coming, and remember that in order to have work published in this year's magazine, we need it by our fall deadline, which is just before Thanksgiving break, November 16th.  And for those of you who submitted last week and the week before, your names were entered in a drawing for a $10 gift card to Chipotle!  And the winner is . . . Katarina Sipan! Congratulations, Katarina . . . you can pick up your gift card from Mr. Miles in the Language Arts office.

Hey Arapahoe! Do you like those big fat juicy burritos at Chipotle across the street?  The Muse is having a special drawing! If you submit a story, poem or artwork to the Muse by noon today, your name will be entered into a drawing for a free $10 Chipotle gift card!  That's right, $10 worth of burritos!  For more information on how to submit, see the Muse page under activities on the Arapahoe webpage.

Warriors, you've done a great job participating in Safe Schools Week.  Take a look at our unity chain in the cafeteria today.  Each person who signed a link is committed to keeping them-self and others safe.  Our final day of Safe Schools Week is Compliment Day.  Be sure to give as many compliments as you possibly can. Stop by the table during lunch today to take a compliment and leave a compliment.  Be bold and even give a compliment to a random person.  I'm sure it will make their day.  Warriors, never forget, YOU MATTER.

If interested, please plan on attending a short meeting during either 1st or 2nd lunch in the FORUM to receive more information and paperwork. 

Sophomores, don’t forget about the opportunity to take the PLAN, a practice ACT test, on Saturday, November 3rd! Register in the Guidance Office now through Monday, October 29. The cost is $12.

The Stride is right around the corner. Registration online is still open at www.runthestride.com. And you can also register at any Boulder Running Company or Runners Roost by Wed. Oct. 24th. For those late decision makers you can roll out of bed on Sunday Oct. 28th and register on site. We hope to see you at Ketring Park for The Stride on Sunday.

Friday night’s football game will be the Denver Bronco’s “High School Game of the Week”.  Come join in the festivities at LPS Stadium beginning at 5:45 p.m. - get a chance to meet Miles, Bronco alumni cheerleaders, play games and be a part of this special event as Arapahoe host Chatfield for the Super 6 Conference Championship.  Be loud and wear Black.  Following the game, Qdoba at SouthGlenn will be having the final 5th Quarter Party of the Year.  Go Warriors!

Attention all Senior Girl Swimmers and Divers, there will be a Senior meeting after school today at 2:20 in the Forum. Please see Coach Richmond if you cannot attend.

JON: But here is something delightful, tickets for It's A Wonderful Life go on sale at lunch starting Monday. Student tickets are five dollars and adult tickets are seven dollars.  The show runs November 8th, 9th, and 10th at 7:00pm in the auditorium.

CLAIRE: Wow, I can't wait!

JON: You don't have to.  Tickets can be purchased online, right now.  Check out the posters around the school or see Mr. Ahern on how to purchase tickets.

Hey Warriors! Thanks for coming out to the annual DECA Dodgeball tournament last night. We would like to congratulate the Oregon Ducks, our 2012 DECA Dodgeball Champions.  The Ducks were undefeated in the tournament and had a commanding win in the Championship game.  We would like to thank all the teams for there great attitudes and sportsmanship.  

The Sports Broadcasting Club will meet at 2:30 today in Room E-8 to prepare to broadcast tomorrow's home football game. We'll go on air at 5:15 to broadcast the senior introductions, then again at 7 p.m. to broadcast the game. Check out our broadcast team on ustream.com!

Just a reminder that it is Safe Schools Week! Today’s event is Delete Day, so be sure to delete negative comments, and “friends” that you don’t know well on all your social media sites.
