General Announcements

Feeling formal?!  It’s the first day of homecoming week! We will have lots of events all week . . . you don’t want to miss out on any of them! Tonight is the talent show at 5:00 and 7:00.  The 7:00 p.m. show will include the announcement of royalty. Tomorrow is Colorado pride day. Support your state and wear your Colorado gear! Make sure you’re helping your class win! Also, be sure to stop by the cafeteria today to purchase Homecoming t-shirts and tickets to Saturday’s dance.  Tickets are $10 and t-shirts are $5.  You can also stop by the cafeteria to sign up for the competitions that are a part of Friday’s pep assembly.

You did it Warriors!!! Arapahoe High School had the largest number of participants of any high school sign up for the Race for the Cure!  Your Arapahoe Toms and Cheers were there at 6 a.m. yesterday morning, supporting over 30,000 men and women.  Thank you all so much for being such amazing contributors to your community. GO WARRIORS!

Congratulations to the members of the Warrior Marching Band and Color Guard for their outstanding performances this weekend at the Legacy Marching Invitational!  In preliminary competition the band and guard placed second in Class 5A and 6th place overall earning them a performance in finals.  In finals competition the band and guard maintained their second place in 5A while improving to 5th place overall. Congratulations Warrior Band and Guard!

Hey Key Club, don't forget that your t-shirt money and your activity fee are due today.  You must have the activity fee in order to participate in Key Club this year.

There will be a Drama Club meeting this Thursday, after school in the auditorium. New members are welcome. For more information, see Mr. Ahern in Room E-15.

Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors, if you are planning to bring a guest from another school to the Homecoming Dance, please make sure your Guest Forms are turned in by 3:00 p.m. tomorrow to Mrs. Scoglio in the Attendance Office.

Juniors, the PSAT test is coming. When? . . . October 16! Registration ends on Wednesday, October 9. So, remember to bring $15 and your photo ID to the Guidance Office to sign up for this important test! Math and Language Arts study sessions for the PSAT will be offered next week at 6:30 am in Room S-10. The math sessions will be on Tuesday, October 8th and Thursday, October 10th. The Language Arts sessions will be on Wednesday, October 9th and Friday, October 11th. Come to these sessions so you’ll be even better prepared to take the PSAT!

Register and Vote! It's your right. It's your voice.  Students who are 18, Election Day is fast approaching! Please come to the voter registration table during lunch either Monday or Wednesday to register to vote!

CafĂ© specials today:  Fazoli's pasta plates  and Black Jack pizza.  Lunch today:  orange chicken w/rice and cheese quesadillas with toppings.  Today is the last day of  the grace period for free and reduced lunches.  If you have not turned in a form yet, all of your meals will be $2.90 until you turn in a form and are approved.  The processing time is five to ten days.  See you at lunch Warriors!!



Athletics

"Pink Cards" for Winter Sports will be distributed in the Cafeteria on Wednesday from 2:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.  Online registration must be completed and a current physical must be on file in the Athletic Office before student-athletes can receive their "Pink Card".   Registration is completed online at www.ahswarriors.org.

General Announcements

Hello Warriors!  We are extremely proud to announce the names of the Semi Finalists, and Commended Scholars in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program.  These students are honored for their outstanding performance on the 2012 PSAT which they took last October.  The Semi Finalists are:  Pierceson Brown, Clairissa Hansen, John Michael McKoy, Megan Moore, Joe Redmond, Daniel Sabey, Nick Sabo, Zach Waanders, and Sara Wilky.  The Commended Scholars are: John Barsch, Matt Cheney, Chad Curd, Grace Marlowe, Kimberly McEntire, and Chris Retzlaff.  If you see these seniors in class or in the halls, please congratulate them.  Great job Warriors!

We are proud to announce the name of our 2013-14 National Hispanic Scholar. Students who receive this recognition from the College Board are at least one-quarter Hispanic/Latino, have achieved a specific minimum PSAT/NMSQT score for their region, and must have a junior year cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.  Please congratulate Dominic Martinez if you see him in class or in the halls.

Lunch specials today:  Cafe Rio taco and enchilada plates, chicken breast sandwich, Swiss bacon cheeseburgers.  Also offered:  pizza, sub sandwiches, salads.  Please submit your lunch applications before Monday if you haven't done so already.  See you at Lunch Warriors!!

Seniors, Herff Jones representatives will be at Arapahoe High School today during lunches in the cafeteria to accept your graduation announcement order and answer any questions that you may have. October 8 will be the makeup date to turn in graduation announcements.

Congrats to the freshman, sophomore, JV, and Varsity volleyball teams for the sweep over Smoky Hill last night. 

The JV Tennis Team defeated Overland yesterday. They play their last season match today at Creek. Come on over and watch the team defeat Cherry Creek.

Athletics

Congratulations to our Warrior golfers, Sam Marley, Russel Otten and David Packer, for qualifying for the state tournament. These three boys will be playing on Monday and Tuesday at Murphy Creek for the 5A state golf tournament. Good luck!!!

Congratulations to the Varsity boys tennis teams for their wins over Cherokee Trail and Columbine this week!  They suffered a tough, close loss to Mullen yesterday.  The boys head to Overland today and Cherry Creek on Friday!

The JV Tennis Team defeated Mullen yesterday 11-4. Awesome win Warriors!! Good Luck today against Overland and Friday against Cherry Creek. Let's keep the undefeated season alive.

There will be a Muse meeting today after school at 2:30 in Room C17. New members are welcome, and we hope to see all our past Musers there!

Picture re-takes will be today in the Trophy hallway from 9:30 to 1:00 p.m.  If you have NOT had your picture taken by the photographer for your yearbook and Student ID photograph please do so at this time.  If you have had your picture taken but are not happy with the results, you must return your photo packet to the photographer in order to have retakes.
If you ordered a picture packet at registration in August, the photos are in. You can pick yours up on the south side of the cafeteria during both lunches, or check at the attendance office during any other period.
Seniors please pick up a Graduation Announcement Packet in the Main Office or Guidance Office from Mrs. DeBow. Herff Jones representatives will be at Arapahoe High School tomorrow and Friday during lunches in the cafeteria to accept your order and answer any questions that you may have.

Hello Warrior Lacrosse Players,    Are you girls ready for a great spring lacrosse season?   There are two important meetings coming up in October.  On October 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the AHS Forum, we will hold the girls lacrosse kickoff meeting and informational program overview.  On October 30 at 7:00 p.m. in the AHS Library, we will hold spring girls lacrosse registration.  Please mark your calendars for both evenings and check out the team website at  http://girls.ahslax.org   Go Warriors!
