General Announcements

*Hey Warriors! The 2024 Arapahoe Toy Drive is here! If you are new here or don’t remember, every year we pick an elementary school full of students whose families need a little extra holiday cheer in the form of toys, hats and gloves. And this year, we are supporting College View Elementary in DPS and the Denver Indian Center. College View is located off Federal and Yale (about 20 minutes away). They have about 350 students and nearly 93% of their students qualify for free/reduced lunch, 85% of students are students of color.

Any Toys + money that Arapahoe raises go towards these sweet families and their Christmases. It also goes towards buying every one of them a pair of gloves and a hat, as well as buying classroom supplies for their teachers. If you bring a toy, aim for an elementary-aged one for 5-10 yr olds that’s between $10 and $20, is not battery-operated and is not a weapon. We want you to bring these toys on Friday to TRIBE! TRIBEs that bring in the most toys and most money will win prizes for each student!

One thing that sets Arapahoe apart from other schools is how we care so much about our community. It’s one of our best traditions. This is a great way to showcase that. If every student brought in one toy, we’d have well over our 1000 toy goal. If you can’t bring one in on Friday, you can bring toys all the way until Dec. 16th. Thank you for supporting these awesome kids in heart and mind. Arapahoe is a cut above when it comes to sharing joy.

*Warriors - speaking of joy, join us for Turkey Bingo on Friday at both lunches. You can play free bingo and win candy and treats! See you on Friday for all the joy!

*Join us THURSDAY for the AHS Fall Instrumental Concert featuring the Jazz band, Orchestra and Concert Band.  The performance will start at 7:00pm in the AHS Theater.

 General Announcements

*Good morning, Warriors! This is Mr. Hilsden, and it’s an honor to speak to you about my time in the military. The motto of the Royal Military College of Canada, where I graduated from after high school, is Truth, Duty, Valour. I chose the path of military service for the challenges it offered, and as an officer in the Canadian Army’s Communications and Electronics Engineering Branch, I was pushed to limits far beyond what I thought possible.

Time in the military taught me the true meaning of teamwork, discipline, and leadership, lessons that have guided me ever since. Although I never served overseas, I had the privilege of training with soldiers who did—true Warriors who showed me what sacrifice and commitment look like.

The values I learned in the military—Truth, living with integrity; Duty, fulfilling my responsibilities to the best of my ability; and Valour, courage to face new challenges—are values of the Warrior spirit. You are able to do more than you think, to test your limits mentally and physically. Go be a Warrior today! Thank-you.
