General Announcements

*If you're a senior who still wants to apply to college, please meet in the library on Tuesday, March 1st, from 8:30-10:30am. Admissions reps from several local colleges will be on hand to provide fee waivers and help with applications. See your counselor or Mrs. Conn in the Post-Secondary Center if you have questions.

*Computer Science coding club meets after school Tuesdays in Ms. Bownd’s room.

*The Technology Student Association (TSA) competed in their state competition last week and had a great showing. Julia and Claire were semi-finalists in Children's Story, Noah, Brock, and Addison placed second in System Control Technology. Addison and Marie placed 1st in Data Science and Analytics. If you are interested in growing TSA, learning, and applying technology, please come on Thursdays after school in E1286 after Spring Break as we start to prepare for next year. See Mr. Babcock if you have any questions.

*The 18th Annual Art Attack is underway, and the Art department is now taking pieces for this year's show. We will be collecting artwork through Friday, March 18th, so don't wait. Please swing by the Art office for information on how to submit your work. If you have any questions, please email or come in and see Mrs. Hawthorne, Ms. Davidson, or Ms. King.

*Free Alive @ 25 class is Tuesday, March 16th, from 3:45pm - 8:15pm in room W1874. If you voluntarily take the class, the Sheriff's Office pays for your $79 registration fee. If you are 15 1/2 you can get a driver's permit after taking the course. Also, a lot of insurance companies will give you a discount. To register, visit www.aliveat25.us and use the password "arapahoe". If you have any questions, ask Deputy Englert. 

Athletics

*Your 5th ranked Girls Varsity Basketball team beat Lakewood Friday night by a score of 51 to 25. Arapahoe Warriors will host the Columbine Rebels in the third round of the 5A state girl's basketball tournament Tuesday night, March 1st. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. in the Sitting Eagle Gymnasium. A win against Columbine on Tuesday would put them into the Great 8. Ticket prices are $9 for adults and $7 for K-12 students and Senior Citizens. No student passes will be accepted. Tickets can be purchased by CASH ONLY at the door.  Or, please feel free to purchase tickets in advance online using the following QR code. 



*Tryouts for the 2022-23 Toms dance team will take place March 15-17th! There will be an informational meeting for Parents and Dancers this Wednesday, March 2nd, at 6:30pm in the Forum. Attendance at an informational meeting will be required to audition.

*Want to listen to some student bands and support a great cause? Come to the LPS “Battle of the Bands”, tonight, at 6:00pm at the South Fellowship Church student center. Minimum entry donation for students is $5 and for adults it is $10. All profits will be donated directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Come join us and listen to sneak peeks of Claire Beeler's EP! Hope to see you there!

*Stop by the Library Cafe for Foreign Film Friday!  Today we are playing Transformers in French.  Take a break and work on your fluency.

*Hey Warriors! An AHS Big Idea Project is supporting careers for the homeless! Bring any unwanted business and interview attire to the bubble on Saturday, February 26th between 10:00am and 2:30pm for donations! Any and all clothing items are welcome and preferably washed. Thank you for supporting our community!

*Senior Gentlemen, we want YOU to be the next Mr. Arapahoe! Make sure to sign up. We're looking for someone who represents our school with pride and honor! If interested, please send an email to Ms. Hamilton and Ms. Davidson. Deadline is on February 28th.

*Your Girls Varsity Basketball team is ranked #5 in the state.  They play at home in Round 2 of the state playoffs tonight at 6:00pm in our Sitting Eagle Gym.  A win against Lakewood on Friday night would put them into the Sweet 16.  Come cheer on your Girls Varsity Basketball team. We hope to see you there! Tickets are $6 for students and seniors, $8 for adults. All Arapahoe students will need to purchase a ticket. Tickets can be purchased in advance at:  http://spicket.events/arapahoe OR at the door - cash only.  NO Adult or Student AHS Athletic passes will be accepted as this is a playoff game.

We are a non-cut sport looking for anyone interested in participating this spring. It is not too late to join; go to the Arapahoe athletic website and register. *Juniors! Interested in learning more about the University of Tennessee, San Diego State, Metro, or ACC this week? Register in Naviance for College Rep visits today! These are very casual group meetings where you can choose to ask questions or just listen. You won't regret showing up!

Athletics

*Anyone interested in playing baseball this spring it's not too late!!!! Tryouts begin Monday, Feb 28th. See Mr. Dollaghan in the PE Department with questions.

*Register, Register, Register!! If you plan to try out for ABK Girls Soccer, please register ASAP through the Arapahoe High School Athletics website. You will need a current physical to register. Tryouts start on February 28th you cannot tryout if you are not registered. 

  • Anyone new to the program there will be a virtual meeting on Thursday, February 24th at 6:00pm. to meet with the Coach and a few Seniors. They will share best practices and answer questions. 

  • Tryouts start February 28, 2022 and continue each day of the week. Tryouts begin right after classes and go until 5 pm or later at the AHS soccer fields. Ending times will fluctuate, please stay flexible. Players need to bring their own water and shin guards. 

*If you are interested in learning more about Arapahoe Girls Lacrosse, please join us on Thursday, February 24th for a pre-season Parent/Player meeting at 6:00pm in the AHS Forum. Tryouts for the spring 2022 season are February 28th - March 2nd from 6 pm - 8 pm at South Suburban Bubble. Please request to be added to the Arapahoe GLAX team in Team App for more information!
