 General Announcements

*Picture retakes are TODAY in the West Atrium from 8am - 3:30pm.  If you need a retake be sure to stop by and get your picture taken. 

*NHS invitees: Your recommendations and fee must be received by TODAY.  If you have questions, see Ms Bownds room E1285.

*Arapahoe Artists!  The Activities Office is looking for a few people to help us with our bulletin boards.  Must have good handwriting and love to draw.  See Mrs. Kuhlmann or Mrs. Peterson in the Activities office for more details. 

*Seniors!  Do you have an October 15th college application deadline?  The College Application Tracking Form will be due TODAY 3:45pm for all schools with an October 15th application deadline.  See Mrs. Arnold in the main office or Mrs. Conn in Post Secondary if you have questions regarding the tracking form.

*Juniors & Seniors: college visits aren't over yet! Register to visit with Virginia Tech, Texas State, St. Olaf, and UCCS on Monday. See your counselor, Mrs. Conn, or check Naviance for more details.

*Don't miss the College Fairs of Greater Denver at Mountain Vista High School tomorrow, Saturday from 10am-12pm. Meet with reps from dozens of colleges across the country to help you plan for life after Arapahoe!

*Juniors: This year’s PSAT/NMSQT test will be offered on Wednesday, October 12th.  This test is optional but it is used to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship program.  The fee is $20.  To register, check the September Drumbeat or this form in the Announcements.  Sophomores may take the test if they like, but please know it is optional.  Sophomores have their own link.  The registration deadline is Monday, October 3rd

 

Athletics

*Calling all Warriors! Come support our Warrior Field Hockey teams today on our AHS turf field as they take on Colorado Academy! Varsity plays at 4:30pm, JV at 5:45pm and C Team at 7:00pm.

*The LPS/Heritage High School Gymnastics team will be competing at the  "Think Pink" Invitational at Lakewood with the first event starting at 10:00am. Come out and support the LPS/Heritage Gymnastics team this week!

*Both the Varsity and JV softball teams had run-rule wins last night vs Cherry Creek. This makes Varsity's win streak to 5 and 7 of the last 8. Come out and support our softball seniors on Saturday at 10:45 AM for Senior Day as the softball team takes on Mullen.

*Calling all writers! Do you want to refine your writing skills, craft fun story ideas, and explore different types of writing in a supportive community of like-minded writers? Then AHS’ Creative Writing Club sounds perfect for you! Our meetings are on Wednesdays from 3:40 to 4:40 pm in room C1457.  If you want to grow as a writer and make meaningful connections through your love of storytelling, then come by Wednesday afternoons and give us a try. Can’t wait to see you there!

Athletics

*The Boys Varsity Tennis Warriors fought hard for a 4-3 win against Rocky Mountain High in the first round of the Team State Championship last night.  The win sends them to the Quarterfinals on Saturday where they will battle Fossil Ridge in Fort Collins!  Good Luck Warriors!

*Both the JV and Varsity Softball teams picked up wins last night against Cherokee Trail. The JV team won 6-3 and the varsity team won 12-2.  Both teams look to stay hot today as they take on Cherry Creek TODAY.

*ABK JV and Varsity take on Cherry Creek TODAY.  Varsity will play at 6pm at Stutler Bowl Stadium and JV plays at 4pm at Village Green Fields.  Come out and cheer them on! 

*The LPS/Heritage High School Gymnastics team will travel to Cherry Creek TODAY.  The first event is scheduled to start at 5:30pm.  On Saturday it's a "Think Pink" Invitational at Lakewood with the first event starting at 10:00am. We hope staff and students will come out and support the LPS/Heritage Gymnastics team this week!

*Come out and get a tasty treat at Modern Market Eatery TODAY, all day to support the LPS/Heritage High School Gymnastics team. The team will travel to Cherry Creek tomorrow, Thursday with the first event scheduled to start at       5:30 pm.  Come and cheer them on!

*The Boys Varsity Tennis Warriors had another resounding win with a 7-0 clean sweep over Columbine last night.  The first round of the Team Tournament playoffs starts today.  The boys take on Rocky Mountain High School at DeKoevend Park at 3:30pm.  Let’s go Warriors!

*Our Field Hockey Warriors battled hard against Kent yesterday. Varsity and JV came up short in tough losses, but C Team prevailed in a close 2-1 victory! Next up is Colorado Academy on Friday on AHS home turf!

*Thanks, Warriors, for an unforgettable Homecoming Week!  Congratulations to ABK for winning the float competition.  You brought spirit and creativity to the parade.  Gymnastics won 2nd place, and the swim and dive team took 3rd.  Thank you to the 30 clubs and sport teams who participated in the parade!

*The Varsity softball team picked up 2 wins on Saturday, beating Eaglecrest 13-3 and Chaparral 12-7. These wins improved their overall record to 10 and 8. They have won 5 of their last 6 games and look to build on a 3-game winning streak on Wednesday at Cherokee Trail. 

*On Tuesday Sept 27th, grab some dinner from Garlic Knot on East Arapahoe Rd and support ABK boys soccer!

*Congrats to the JV Gold Boys tennis team on winning the Chatfield Invitational for the second straight year.  They finished 17 and 3 in the tournament overall. Amazing win and great team work on the courts!

*Homecoming dance tickets will still be sold today in the cafeteria during both lunches.  Tickets are $20 or $25 at the door.  Hope to see you at LPS Stadium tonight as the Warriors take on the Jaguars from Rock Canyon at 7:00pm. 

*See you at the “Back to the Future” Homecoming parade at 10:00am starting in the west parking lot, going through the Streets of Southglenn and back to AHS.  The Homecoming dance starts at 8:00pm in the Aux gym.  Remember to bring your school IDs.  Guests need to bring an ID also.   

*Juniors and Seniors not currently in NHS - IF you are eligible to apply to National Honor Society, you have received an email inviting you to apply. If you have questions about eligibility, please refer to the activities website for the NHS  "How to Apply" section.  If you still have questions, see Ms. Bownds (E1285) or Mrs. Gutierrez (World Lang office). All applications must be complete by Thursday, Sept 29th. Your recommendations and fee must be received by Friday, Sept 30th.  Seniors who are already members DO NOT need to REAPPLY. For these senior members, our first full council meeting will be Monday, September 26th from 3:40-4:00pm in the tiered classroom E1287.  Come and meet your Senior Officers!

*Warriors, there is a free Alive@25 class Monday September 26th at 3:45pm - 8:15pm in room W1874.  There is still plenty of room to sign up.  This is a 4 1/2 hour class. Register on-line at www.aliveat25.us  and use the password  ARAPAHOE.  Any questions, ask Deputy Englert.
