General Announcements

Attention all members of National Honor Society: Remember that our club picture for the yearbook will be taken in the gymnasium at 9:00am this Wednesday, right before your period 1 class starts on this PLC day. Please be there in the gym at 9:00, smiling pretty for our NHS photo!

Hello Arapahoe Ladies! It’s your turn!!! It’s time for the 2011 Arapahoe High School Winter Dance where the girls ask the guys! “A Night in Lights” will be held Saturday, January 22nd from 7-10 p.m. in the AHS Cafeteria. Tickets will go on sale beginning Tuesday, January 18th during both lunches. The cost is $10 per person in advance and will go up to $15 per person at the door. The dress is semi formal, and we have acquired the awesome DJ from last spring’s Prom!!!! So don’t wait to ask that special someone to “A Night in Lights”. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors may pick up yellow guest forms in the Attendance Office.

Attention TSA Students. Due to multiple event entries, we need to have competition ”run-offs” for the following events: Castle Ballistics, Structural Engineering, Problem Solving, and Technology Bowl. If you signed up for one of these events, you need to attend the TSA “run-off” Meeting next Thursday, Jan 13th after school promptly at 2:25 in room E6. Please come prepared to compete!

Athletics

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Basketball Team for their win over Smoky Hill on Saturday 53-42. The win moves the Lady Warriors to 2 and 0 in the Centennial League. Congratulations to the JV girls basketball team in defeating Smoky Hill 45 to 20. The win brings the team to a 5 and 2 record and 2 and 0 in league.
Next games are Wednesday, January 12 @ Grandview. JV plays at 5:30 and Varsity at 7:00. Come and cheer our Lady Warriors on!"

The girls sophomore team got another great win at Smokey Hill on Saturday. They beat the Buffaloes by the score of 45-29. They are playing Grandview for first place in league on Wednesday. Good luck ladies
Congratulations to Lady Freshman Warriors basketball Team for their win over Smokey Hill 37-25 on Saturday the win got them back to their winning ways. Great job girls!
Warriors come out and support the AHS Special Olympic basketball team as they go up against Littleton High School at the Littleton High School main gym at 7:00 p.m. tonight.

Attention all boys interested in the Arapahoe Boys Swimming and Diving Team. Registration will be held on Wednesday, January 19th, at 6:30 PM, in the AHS cafeteria. There will be a short informational meeting followed by registration and equipment orders. Swimmers, divers and their parents should plan to attend. All returning team members should receive registration documents by email prior to the registration night. Attention Arapahoe Students! You will be receiving a hard copy of your Semester 1 Report Card TODAY from your third hour teacher. If you do not have a 3rd hour class, you may pick up your report card in the guidance office. Hope your new semester is off to a great start!!

The Muse deadline has been extended to Friday, January 14. Get your writings, poetry and artwork submitted.

Just a reminder to those students who checked out books from the library before winter break, most of those books are due back. Avoid those book fines and get your books back to the library! Thanks

Immediately following the varsity game this Friday night, all Arapahoe fans are invited to enjoy any entrée and regular fountain drink for only $5.00. After you attend the game, check out the 5th Quarter at Qdoba and show your school spirit! Good Luck AHS Basketball!

General Announcements
Band pictures will be taken after school in the theater today. All concert and jazz students will be in the pictures.

There will be a short, but very important TSA meeting after school today for ALL students attending the TSA state conference in February. This will be a mandatory meeting to finalize your event entries, as the official registration site closes at Midnight! No changes can be made after that! Please see Mr. McMullen if you have any questions. We will meet in E10 promptly at 2:25

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Basketball Team for their League opening victory last night 49-44 over Cherokee Trail. The win was a total team effort and puts the team at 1 and 0 in Centennial League play. The Lady Warriors next game is this Saturday 1/8 at Smoky Hill at 1:00 PM. Come out and support your Lady Warriors.

Congratulations to the girls sophomore basketball team. The girls got the win against Cherokee Trail with a score of 61 to 27. Great team effort.

The following clubs will have their yearbook photo taken today: Photography Club, Drama Club, Drama Advisory Board, FCCLA, Special Needs Soccer, Wild Warrior Women, Chess Club, Warriors of the Word, Ultimate Frisbee, and French Club. For more information see your sponsor, check the flyers hung around the school, or see the flyer posted outside of room E8.

This will be our first opportunity to meet with our newly-inducted members, and we have several activities to discuss. We’ll also be turning in our service logs, so please be sure to attend this important meeting.

Hey FCCLA: don’t forget we have a meeting right after school today and then our club photo for the yearbook. Wear your t-shirts if possible for the photo. See you today after school.

Your Lady Warrior Basketball JV and Varsity Teams open their Centennial League competition tonight here at AHS against Cherokee Trail High School. The JV game begins at 5:30 and the Varsity will Tip off at 7:00. The Freshmen and Sophomore teams also play today with the Freshmen game starting at 4:30 and the Sophomore game beginning at 6:00. Come out and support your Lady Warriors

Congratulations to Andrew Ryan, Melissa Merkel, and Emily Haskins on being selected to the all-state orchestra. All three of these fine musicians earned spots in this prestigious ensemble.
