 General Announcements

*Are you looking for something to do this winter? Come check out Club Cafe in the cafeteria during lunch on Wednesday, February 8th. There is something for everyone.

*If you're interested in learning more about the US Navy, there will be a recruiter in the cafeteria today during both lunches.

*Arapahoe Celebrates School Counselor Week! We are lucky at Arapahoe to have six outstanding counselors to serve all of our students. We will highlight one per day.

Mr. Lewis has been a counselor at Arapahoe for seven years. He works with 9th-12th graders with the last name. A-C. Mr. Lewis is a Colorado native that graduated from both Conifer High School and Colorado Christian University. He is an avid cyclist, camper and soccer player- having played in both high school and college.  He sponsors the mountain bike club here at AHS.  This father of three loves being a Warrior as he lives in the community.

*To celebrate Black History Month, we will be talking each day on the morning announcements about an African American advocate in the Mental Health Community. The African American community has had a powerful contribution to the mental health field and we would like to shine light on and celebrate those contributions.

Bebe Moore Campbell is our first Mental Health Advocate for the week. She was also an American author, journalist, and teacher who worked tirelessly to shed light on the mental health needs of the Black community and other underrepresented communities. She founded NAMI-Inglewood in a predominantly Black neighborhood to create a space that was safe for Black people to talk about mental health concerns. Throughout her time as an advocate, Campbell made her way to DC. On June 2, 2008, Congress formally recognized Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month to bring awareness to the unique struggles that underrepresented groups face regarding mental illness in the US.
