Attention all students . . . You
will be receiving your first semester
report cards in your 3rd hour
class today. Please see Mrs. Flinders in the Guidance Center if you do
not have a 3rd hour
class.
Congratulations
to the following students for their performances in this past Saturday's
Patriot Games Speech and Debate tournament held at George Washington High
School. This was a highly competitive
tournament featuring 36 schools from throughout the state.
· Peter Galloway placed sixth in National Extemporaneous
Speaking
· Nash Jekot, Karl Pierson, and Ethan Snow earned superior
ribbons in National Extemporaneous Speaking
· Cole Trujillo earned a superior ribbon in International
Extemporaneous Speaking
The
speech and debate team will hold its weekly meeting after school Tuesday
beginning at 2:30 in Room C15. All members should plan to attend.
There will be a mandatory TSA
meeting this Wednesday, Jan 16 in Room E6 for all TSA members planning on
attending the state TSA Conference. We need to finalize competitive event
entries and hotel room assignments! This
Wednesday is the last day to turn in money and paperwork for the conference, NO
EXCEPTIONS! See Mr. McMullen for questions, concerns, or paperwork!! See
you all there!
A
reminder to all FBLA members, it is time to do your district testing! Testing must be completed by Thursday of this
week. Please come to room S2 or S3 after
school to take your test or see Mrs. Swank or Mr. Sawyer to confirm an
alternative testing time.
It's Bear Hug Week! Help Link Crew raise money for Sandy
Hook Elementary School. Make a donation during lunch and write an encouraging
note on a Valentine to send to the children at Sandy Hook.
Warrior Week is coming up! Student Council is selecting the
charity that AHS will support through Warrior Week. Anyone can come tomorrow to
Tuesday's meeting before school at 6:45 in the Forum to vote for this year's
charity. Hope to see you there!
Winter Dance Guest Forms are due Tuesday, January 22nd. Only
Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors may bring a guest from another school to the dance.
Please bring your completed form to the Attendance Office and make sure
you have a copy of your guest's ID attached to the form.
Free Alive @ 25 class for AHS
students Tuesday January 22th, 3-7:30 p.m. The class is normally $39. To sign
up go to the alive @ 25 website or there's a link on the schools website or
talk to Deputy Englert.
Athletics
The JV girls basketball team picked up another win on Friday
evening against Smoky Hill with a final score of 43-25. It was a good
team effort with 8 out of the 10 players scoring to contribute to the win. High
scorers were Jordyn Vega with 10 points and Annabelle Brewer with 9
points. The team had a total of 39 deflections with Maria Haas and Camryn
Hoerdemann with 9 deflections and 4 steals each. Maria Haas also had 7
rebounds and 4 assists. Next game is at Eaglecrest High School this Wednesday
at 5:30. Way to go Lady Warriors!!
Calling all girls tennis players! There will be a
mandatory meeting for all girls interested in playing tennis this spring. Girls and their parents should attend the
meeting tomorrow from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the Forum. Please visit the
