Today is
Unity Day, the final day of Safe Schools Week.
Stop by the table in front of the Guidance Center during lunch for more
information about Safe Schools Week and for information on how to foster our
community spirit.
Good luck
to the Warrior Marching Band who will be competing at the CBA State Marching
Band Championships tomorrow in
Fort Collins at Hughes Stadium. Arapahoe performs at 11:00 a.m. in semi-finals and we would love
to see everyone there!!! Congratulations on a great season Warrior Band!
The word is out! Romeo and Juliet is a hit!
You still don't have tickets? There are two more performances,
tonight at 7 p.m. and tomorrow night at 7 p.m. Tickets are
going fast! Don't wait to get them at the door, go to Mr. Ahern's teacher page
and get them online. The show has it all . . . love, death, even sword
fighting. Make a date - see the show.
Once
again it’s time for the annual Halloween Candy Jar Count in the Library!! Come
down to the library and guess how many Halloween candies are in the glass jar!
The student who comes the closest to the actual amount will win the jar
full of candy! Only one guess per day, please. The winner will be
announced on Halloween during the daily announcements. Happy Halloween from
your AHS Library Staff!
Do you
owe a library fine? Want to help someone in need? Bring nonperishable food
items to the library to reduce your library fine. For each food item brought
in, your library fine will be reduced by fifty cents. This is a great way to
take care of your library fines and help someone else at the same time.
Hey
students and staff...the Stride 5k and 10k run event is this weekend. You can
still register at www.runthestride.com Come on out and run or walk
in this LPS Foundation event. We need your help representing Arapahoe. The race
is this Sunday,
October 27th in Littleton.
Next Wednesday, October
30th, Arapahoe High School has the privilege of hosting the Colorado
Supreme Court. Because of this, the library will be closed that day to
student use in order to provide a place for a breakfast and luncheon for the
justices and their clerks. The library staff realizes this will be an
inconvenience and ask that you plan ahead for your study needs. Rarely does a
school get such an opportunity to witness our legal system in action firsthand.
Your flexibility and understanding is appreciated.
Sophomores, don’t forget about the opportunity to take the PLAN,
a practice ACT test, on Saturday, November 2nd! Register in the Guidance
Office now through October 28th. The cost is $15.
Are you a
writer or an artist? Do you have art, poetry, or prose that you think the world
should see? Then submit to the Muse! The Muse is a student-run literary
and arts magazine featuring the products of Arapahoe's most talented and
creative students– and YOU can be one of them! To submit, visit the Muse
page under the activities tab on the school website.
Attention all Arapahoe Students . . . we are calling
on you to help others in our community who are in need. October 21-November 1 we will be collecting non-perishable
food for the students and community at Field Elementary. Please help us support
the Food for Field drive by bringing cans or non-perishable food to the boxes
located in each classroom. The winning class will receive a prize. We will also
be hosting a raffle during both lunches.
Please bring two non-perishable items in exchange for a raffle ticket.
The winners of ten Deca Dollars will be announced on Friday the 25th and November 1. Show
your support for the community and make sure to donate!
Drama
Club is teaming up with Food for Field and will be collecting non-perishable
food items each night of Romeo & Juliet.
Are you
comfortable using technology such as Google Drive and the Science Techbook?
Have you ever helped a friend get connected to wireless? Do you like to help
your fellow students? If so, you might be a perfect candidate for AHS's version
of the Apple Genius Bar. Please see the AHS web page for more information
and a link to the application form. Deadline is November 4th.
Café specials: Café Rio, pulled chicked bbq sandwich, bacon
cheeseburger. Lunch today: pizza, cold sandwiches, and salads.
