General Announcements

JOHN: The greatest story the world has ever known is coming to Arapahoe High School.
ELLI:  Romeo and Juliet opens October 24th and runs through the 26th. The show starts at 7 p.m. each night.
JOHN:  Tickets are on sale now, $5.00 for students, $7.00 for adults, senior citizens are free.

Drama Club is teaming up with Food for Field and will be collecting non-perishable food items each night of the show.

The AHS Speech and Debate Team kicked off its season with the Regis Jesuit High School's Novice Tournament this past Saturday. Ell Eshleman earned an excellent ribbon for her performance in dramatic interpretation. Yasmine Lame earned a superior ribbon in original oratory. Caleb O'Hayre and Sanat Mehta earned superior ribbons in Lincoln-Douglas debate. Caleb did especially well by going undefeated in his three rounds of competition. 

The Speech and Debate Team will hold its weekly meeting this Tuesday after school at 2:30 in Room C15. All members should attend as there will be an opportunity to sign up for the first varsity tournament. Members, please remember to bring signed team agreement forms and completed private vehicle use forms. Also, membership fees need to be paid prior to a member's first varsity competition. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Imagine a project so captivating that you want to spend hours working on it to get it just right. If this sounds intriguing, then the Technology Student Association Club is for you!  That’s what happens when TSA members compete at the State Competition. Students work individually or as a team in such areas as agriculture and biotechnology, website design, dragster design, flight challenge, film technology, CAD with 3D modeling, desktop publishing, extemporaneous speaking, structural engineering, Fashion Design, Video, and many more. The TSA Club will meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday’s of the month through February.  To find out more about this exciting opportunity, please come to the first TSA meeting of the year this Thursday, October 10th @2:25- 3:00 in Room E6.  Hope to see you there!

Register and Vote! It's your right. It's your voice.  Students who are 18, Election Day is fast approaching! Please come to the voter registration table during lunch either Monday or Wednesday to register to vote!

There are many colleges scheduled to visit Arapahoe this week! Please check the college visit schedule on the board outside the Guidance Office as well as Naviance to see who is visiting each day.  Three College Fairs are happening in the Denver area this week: Wednesday, October 9, Thursday, October 10 and Saturday, October 12 at Mountain Vista.  Check in the Post Grad Center for additional information.

It is that time of year for eligible juniors and seniors to start applying for membership in National Honor Society!  If you are a junior with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, or a senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, then you are eligible to apply for membership.  Eligible students should have received a letter at their home address, inviting them to join and also explaining the application process.  If your GPA makes you eligible for NHS, but you haven’t received a letter at home, please contact Mr. Smith or Ms. McGeorge in the science office.  This letter also tells you about important informational meetings going on this week.  If you are applying for membership in NHS, you must attend one of these meetings to learn about the club and the application process.  There are four meetings being held for you to choose from this week: Thursday and Friday mornings at 6:55 in Room W-103, and also Thursday and Friday afternoons at 2:20 in room W-103.  Remember that these meetings are only for eligible juniors and seniors, so if you are unsure whether you are eligible, please contact Mr. Smith or Ms. McGeorge in the science office.

Current members of National Honor Society, we have our monthly meeting on Wednesday after school in the Forum, so if you're ALREADY a member please try to attend this quick informational meeting on Wednesday.

Seniors - please submit your cap and gown measurements and diploma information on line by Wednesday! Go to the AHS website, click on the 'students' tab. You will find the necessary form under 'Senior Graduation Information'.

Seniors!  If you missed placing your graduation order for the 2014 custom class announcements and class rings, Herff Jones representatives will be back tomorrow during lunchtime in the cafeteria. Don't forget you will need a deposit with your graduation order. Sophomores and Juniors may also order graduation rings at this time. Graduation packets and class ring information catalogs can be picked up in the Main Office and Guidance Office.

Juniors, time is running out! You only have three days left to register for the PSAT! So bring $15.00 and your student ID to the Guidance Center and sign up for this very important test before it’s too late! The last day to register is Wednesday, October 9. Math and Language Arts study sessions for the PSAT will be offered starting tomorrow at 6:30 am in Room S-10. The math sessions will be on Tuesday, Oct 8th and Thursday, Oct 10th. The Language Arts sessions will be on Wednesday, Oct 9th and Friday, Oct 11th. Come to these sessions so you’ll be even better prepared to take the PSAT!

The 2013 Stride is almost here! Run or Walk The Stride 5k or 10k and help support the LPS Foundation. All proceeds benefit Littleton Public Schools Foundation and the work they do supporting teachers, students, and staff. Students and staff we need your help to win the extra participation award. Hurry and get moving fast to register. Check out www.runthestride.com  or register with any Physical Education Teacher. The race is Sunday, October 27th beginning at Ketring Park @ 8:00 a.m.

Athletics

Congratulations to the boys fresh/soph soccer team for defeating Eaglecrest friday 5-0. They are having a great season and are currently undefeated. Come out and support them at their last home this Wednesday against Cherry Creek. Go Warriors!

Warriors, tomorrow night your #2 ranked volleyball team takes on #3 ranked Grandview at home. It's Jimmy Johns night, so come and join us for some free samples.  Also, this is our Think Pink Match, so support the cause by wearing pink to school and to the game.  Games are at 4:00, 5:00, and 6:15. See you there!

The Spear broadcast team will present the Warriors’ volleyball match vs. Grandview at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday night, so if you can’t make it to the gym, watch it live on the Spear! Go Warriors!

"Pink Cards" for Winter Sports will be distributed in the Cafeteria on Wednesday from 2:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.  Online registration must be completed and a current physical must be on file in the Athletic Office before student-athletes can receive their "Pink Card".   Registration is completed online at www.ahswarriors.org.

Attention AHS Baseball players and families.  If your son has plans to play Baseball next Spring, please plan on attending our Baseball Booster Club meeting. This mandatory meeting (player and at least one parent) will take place on Tuesday, October 8th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Forum.  We're making this a mandatory meeting based upon our agenda.  Coach Luke Muller and the Board will be discussing the plans for the upcoming season, Fundraising and Fall Field Day.  See you Tuesday night!

Hello Warrior Lacrosse Players,    Are you girls ready for a great spring lacrosse season?   There are two important meetings coming up in October.  On October 7th at 7 00 p.m. in the AHS Forum, we will hold the Girls Lacrosse Kickoff Meeting and Informational Program Overview.  On October 30th at 7 00 p.m. in the  Library, we will hold spring girls lacrosse registration.  Please mark your calendars for both evenings and check out the team website at http://girls.ahslax.org   Go Warriors!
