Announcements
Congratulations to all students that
competed at the FBLA District Conference on Friday at
Johnson and Wales University. Arapahoe was awarded 77 medals during the
conference for placing in the top 3 or 4 in their respective events.
Students who were awarded medals received an invitation to the State Conference
in Vail this Spring.
There will be a muse meeting after school
today in room E11 and the yearbook photo will be taken, See you then!
Sophomores and Juniors: Anyone interested in taking a Concurrent Enrollment class next fall at Arapahoe Community College
should plan on attending a meeting tomorrow in the Forum. This meeting will take
place during both lunches, so feel free to bring your lunch with you.
Applications will be available at that time. The deadline to register for Concurrent Enrollment classes is February 29th. This is another great opportunity to earn both high school
and college credit. Please see your counselor for more information.
Congratulations
to Abigail Guadnola for winning a ten dollar Starbuck's gift card in the first
week of the AHS Library's We Heart Digital contest. Wanna join Abigail as
a winner? Enter the contest by simply downloading the free BryteWave app and
checking out an e-book or digital audio book. Ask the library staff if you need
assistance with the process. There are four more chances to win -- one each
week for the next four weeks. No matter what you can't lose --if your tummy
doesn't get filled, at least your brain will.
Your Unified basketball team has a home
game tonight at 7 pm in
the big gym. Come and See how many three pointers Aaron can put on the board,
and watch Alex and her trick moves at the net.
Congratulations to Jack Hoye for taking 4th place in
International Extemporaneous Speaking at last weekend's Speech and Debate
tournament at Columbine High School. Also, congratulations to Ryan Snow and
Kathleen Burns for taking 1st place in the Varsity Cross-examination debate! Speech
and debate members, don't forget to sign up for the state qualifying tournament
by this Thursday and to come vote in the election on Tuesday, February 23rd!
Hey Warriors! Registration for the 3-on-3 March
Madness Basketball tournament is happening this week. Each team will consist of
two boys and two girls, with only 1 boy and 1 girl Arapahoe basketball player
allowed per team. First come first serve! There are only 20 spots available!
Pick up your registration packet in the Business Office so you can be a part of
this exciting new event and help a good cause.
Juniors, sophomores, and freshman students and
parents...come to College Night here at AHS on Monday, February 22nd from 6-8 pm. You will hear about breaking down the college
admissions process into manageable steps and will be able to choose additional
breakout sessions to attend. Check your email for detailed information as
well as a google response form to complete. Be sure to come to this
informative evening to get a preview of what is ahead for the college bound
student.
Are you interested in cars? Do you want to
explore the world of a mechanic? Then sign up for Arapahoe Community College’s
Automotive Technology program. It counts for both high school and college
credit. More details can be found in the counseling office or on the ACC
website.
Athletics
Come support your boys basketball team tomorrow night. It is our last home
game of the regular season and we must beat Creek! It's senior night as
well. We need a big loud warrior crowd! See you there!
Hey Warriors! Spring sports registration is now open. Pink Cards will be distributed in the cafeteria during
lunches starting Monday,
February 22 thru Wednesday, February 24th. Please remember that you must have a current
physical on file with the athletic office and be registered online before you
can receive your pink card. More information regarding spring sports can
be found on the athletic website at www.ahswarriors.org.
Senior,
Jordyn Vega, has been selected as a semifinalist for
the Aspire Athlete of the Week Award. Jordyn is a captain on the
girl' basketball team and a great leader at Arapahoe. Jordyn has been
selected for her "'greatness" demonstrated in athletics, academics,
community involvement & character.” Please go to www.ASPIREathleteoftheweek.com/denver to
vote for Jordyn. Voting ends at 10:00am this Thursday, February
18th.
The Arapahoe Warriors
Girls Swim and Dive Team finished the season with a flurry of success this
weekend at the State meet in Ft. Collins! The team earned 4th place with
stellar individual and relay performances. Junior Sarah Siayap finished in 16th
place in the 200 Free. Freshman Diver Kirry Belitz finished 7th. Junior Laurel
Eiber finished in 3rd place in the 50 Free and the 100 Free earning
All-American Consideration times in both events. Laurel also broke her own
school record in the 50 Free. Sophomore Delaney Smith was the State Champion in
the 200 IM with an All-American Consideration time. Delaney also placed 6th in
the 100 Breast. The 200 Medley Relay of Morgan Conn, Delaney Smith, Gabreece
Van Anne, and Laurel Eiber broke the school record and finished 9th. The 200
Free Relay of Gabreece Van Anne, Kiley Dindinger, Anna Berdahl, and Sarah
Siayap finished in 6th place. The 400 Free Relay of Gabreece Van Anne, Laurel
Eiber, Sarah Siayap, and Delaney Smith broke the school record, earned an
Automatic All-American time, and finished 2nd. Congratulations to the State
Swim Team on a hugely successful meet! All Warrior varsity swimmers must turn
in their parkas after school today.
