Announcements
It’s that
time of year for eligible juniors and seniors to start applying for membership
in National Honor Society. If you are a
junior with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, or a senior with a cumulative
GPA of 3.25 or higher, then you are eligible to apply for membership.
Eligible students will receive a letter at their home address, inviting them to
apply and also explaining the application process. If your GPA makes you
eligible for NHS, but you don’t receive a letter at home in the next few days,
please contact Mr. Smith or Ms. McGeorge in the Science office, or Ms. Leclaire
in language arts.
Calling all writers and artists!! Have you recently written a college
essay, or a personal narrative or story? How about a poem? Do you have a photo
or work of art you're proud of? The Muse is looking for student work of
all kinds to fill up this year's magazine. For details about how to submit your
work, visit the Arapahoe website, and under "Activities," click on
the MUSE tab.
Attention Seniors: Your Senior class panoramic picture will be
taken on Tuesday, October 7th at 7:50 a.m. in the Main Gym. Remember, this is the ONLY time pictures will
be taken of the entire Senior Class, so DON'T MISS OUT! You only have one
chance to be a part of this special event, so BE THERE on Tuesday, October
7th at 7:50 a.m.
Juniors and Seniors: Anyone interested in taking a
Concurrent Enrollment class next semester at Arapahoe Community College
should plan on attending a meeting on Wednesday, October 8th.
The meeting will be during both lunches in the Forum. This is another great
opportunity to earn both high school and college credit. Please see your
counselor for more information.
'Tis the
season for college visits! Representatives from over 100 colleges are scheduled
to visit Arapahoe in the next 6-8 weeks. Remember to pick up a blue visit pass
in the Post Grad Center and get permission from your classroom teacher to
attend visits during a class time. Please limit visits during class time to three.
You may attend as many as you like during unscheduled hours.
Juniors, the PSAT test will be taking
place on October 15! Registration is going on now in the Guidance Office.
Just bring your photo ID and $15 to sign up for this important test!
Also, Math and Language Arts study sessions for the PSAT will be offered next
week at 6:30 a.m. in Room S-10. The math sessions will be on Tuesday,
October 7th and Thursday, October 9th. The Language Arts
sessions will be on Wednesday, October 8th and Friday, October 10th. Come
to these sessions so you’ll be even better prepared to take the PSAT!
Athletics
Congrats to the Arapahoe Freshman volleyball team on their
victory last night against the Eaglecrest Raptors. Next Tuesday is our Think Pink Night for
Breast Cancer Awareness. Come out and watch our Warriors fight against the
Overland Trailblazers. Wear your pink to show your support!
Congratulations
to the Varsity tennis team. The team won Regionals!! All team member qualified
for State next week. The team earned four First Place Finishes and three Second
Place Finishes. First Place finishers were: #1 Singles - Jake Becker; #2
Singles Colin Brown; #2 Doubles - Tyler Speck & Jason Arnell; #4 Doubles -
Chase Douglas & Jake Jones; Second Place finishers were: #3 Singles -
Dylan Panis; #1 Doubles - Sam Muetteries & Sanjay Patil; #3 Doubles - AJ
Cruz & Noah Curd. Awesome teamwork! Come out and watch the team compete in State
at Gates Tennis Center next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Go
Warriors!!
The Varsity Boys Soccer team lost to Smoky Hill yesterday by a
score of 4-1. Mason Gueller scored the goal for the Warriors.
2015 will be a banner year
for the AHS Girls Lacrosse Team, but we need your help to join us for ourMonday,
October 6th (7pm - 8 15pm) Kick Off
Meeting for all players and parents in the AHS Cafeteria. We are excited
to welcome our Freshman families as well as all returning players!
Our fun and talented Coaches, Stacey Birlson and Carrie Levi, will join
us this evening. All athletes, experienced and inexperienced, are
encouraged to come hear about the AHS Girls Lacrosse 2015 plans……. and please
bring your friends looking for an exciting team experience!

p.m. Click here for the Spear or
check the Arapahoe homepage. In addition, a special passcode and instructions
have been sent to your LPS email! You will need this info to log in and watch
the game.
Pink Cards for Winter Sports will be distributed in the Cafeteria
on Wednesdays from 2:15-2:45 p.m. You must register online and have a current
physical on file prior to receiving your pink card.
