Congratulations to the Arapahoe Marching Band and Color Guard for placing first in 5A competition and second overall (2A-5A) at the Douglas County Marching Invitational!!!!  Arapahoe had two great shows and their score improved 2.5 points over last week.  The band and guard scored a 72.20 in their prelims performance and a 72.10 in their finals performances on Saturday night!  The upcoming week is a big week -- the Arapahoe Invitational is on Saturday, October 11, 2014 (performing at 3:45 and 8:45 p.m. in exhibition) and the 5A Metro Regional Qualifying event is on Monday, October 13, 2014 (performing at 8:15 p.m. to qualify for state).  Good luck to the Arapahoe Marching Band and Color Guard!!!!

Congratulations to the Arapahoe Novice Speech and Debate team. Last Saturday, the team competed in this season's first tournament. Every student on the team earned a ribbon, and four students were recognized with superior status. Excellent job!

Come to the FBLA meeting tomorrow at 2:30 in Room E9.  We are beginning to sign up for competition and events fill up quickly. If you do not know what to sign up for we will help you.  Our community service is coming up quickly so come see how to be part of it. See you there!

If you received an acceptance letter to the National Business Honor Society, but were unable to attend the meeting after school yesterday, please stop by the Business Department.

It’s that time of year for eligible juniors and seniors to start applying for membership in National Honor Society!  If you are a junior with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, or a senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, then you are eligible to apply for membership.  Eligible students should have received a letter at their home address, inviting them to apply and also explaining the application process.  If your GPA makes you eligible for NHS, but you haven't received a letter at home, please contact Mr. Smith or Ms. McGeorge in the science office, or Ms. Leclaire in language arts.  This letter also tells you about important informational meetings going on this week, where potential applicants will learn about the club and the application process.  If you are applying for membership in NHS, you must attend one of the four meetings scheduled for before and after school on Thursday and Friday.  So if you are planning to apply for membership, please plan on attending one of these meetings.

Juniors, time is running out! You only have two days left to register for the PSAT! So bring $15.00 and your student ID to the Guidance Center and sign up for this very important test before it’s too late! The last day to register is tomorrow, Wednesday, October 8. Math and Language Arts study sessions for the PSAT are offered this week at 6:30 a.m. in Room S-10. The remaining Math session will be on Thursday, Oct 9th. The Language Arts sessions will be held tomorrow and Friday, Oct 10th. Come to these sessions so you’ll be even better prepared to take the PSAT!

Juniors and Seniors:  Anyone interested in taking a Concurrent Enrollment class next semester at Arapahoe Community College should plan on attending a meeting tomorrow during both lunches in the Forum. This is another great opportunity to earn both high school and college credit. Please see your counselor for more information.
