General Announcements
Juniors (and interested Sophomores) registration for PSAT is now
open! Come to the Guidance Department and sign up with Mrs. Ives. Cost for PSAT
is $18.
Registration is from now until Oct. 13th.
PSAT test will be happening Wednesday morning, Oct. 19th.
We are encouraging every junior to take this test. The PSAT is the
only exam to qualify a student for National Merit Scholar Status, when taken
during junior year.
Attention seniors: The Daniels
Fund Scholarship application is now open. Are you a senior who
demonstrates strength of character, leadership potential, community service,
academic promise, and a well-rounded personality? The Daniels Scholarship
is a “last dollar” scholarship that will pay toward the remaining costs of a
scholar’s education after all other grants and scholarships are applied. The
scholarship is only awarded to students from our four-state area There is a
need-based component to qualify. Stop by the Guidance office and see Mrs.
Kostra for more information.
ATTENTION ALL JUNIORS AND
SENIORS: The
2017 trip to Washington D.C. is here again! This trip is an amazing
opportunity to experience Washington D.C. and Capitol Hill first hand.
This year will be especially exciting and relevant because we will have a new
President and many changes in Congress. There
will be a parent/guardian meeting for those interested in this trip today at 6
PM in Room W-2882. Please feel free to join your parent or guardian, and
if you are unable to attend the meeting, please see Mr. Hawthorne or Mrs. Winn
in the Social Studies department.
Come to Dairy Queen in Southglenn today
between 5 and 8pm to help support the Choirs and Orchestra. Every sale helps us
out, so bring the family, bring your friends, bring your dog and your sweet
tooth, see you at the DQ !
On Thursday, the Post Grad Center will
host Cornell College, which is one of three colleges in the country that offers
a one class at a time approach to education. Log in to Naviance to sign
up for this visit.
Juniors and Seniors: Anyone
interested in taking a Concurrent Enrollment class next semester at
Arapahoe Community College should plan on attending a meeting this Friday, October 14th in the forum.
This will take place during both lunches, so feel free to bring your
lunch. Applications will be available at that time and the deadline
to register will be at the end of October. This is another great opportunity to
earn both high school and college credit. Please see your counselor for more
information.
Warriors, October is Safe Schools Month! Stop
by the tables in front of the counseling office in the cafeteria during both
lunches to contribute to our gratitude chain and to pick up resources for
keeping yourself and others safe. We hope to see you there!
Athletics
Come out tomorrow
night to support the Varsity team for Senior night and help us defeat Cherokee
Trail! Everyone that comes gets their
name in the drawing for gift cards to Starbucks, Chipotle, and MORE! GO
WARRIORS!!
Attention all girls interested in
playing lacrosse this spring: There will be a mandatory meeting today from
6-7:30 pm in the forum at AHS for parents and players, all grades. We will be going over the spring season, how
to register and our fundraising the year! We hope to see you there.
