Athletics

Attention Warrior girls’ lacrosse fans.  Come cheer on our Junior Varsity lacrosse team in today’s game at 4:15 at Air Academy in the K-Dome.  We remind all fans to bring their drivers license for check-in at the gate. Good luck ladies!  Beat Air Academy!

By this time tomorrow, we’ll know who the best JV track and field athletes are in the Centennial league.  Here’s hoping that list is filled with Warriors.  Girls are vying for top honors at the Stutler Bowl while boys go for gold on our own home track.  The action starts at 3:30 this afternoon.  Good luck, team!

Congratulations to the girls' fresh/soph soccer team for their 3-1 win over Cherokee Trail yesterday. They have won four straight to end the regular season. Come out and support them next Wednesday as they take on the Colorado Academy JV team.

OK, AHS Girls’ Lacrosse fans, is everyone listening?  Last night, in a driving rainstorm, punctuated by occasional thunder and lighting, your Varsity girls’ lacrosse team beat the Cherry Creek Bruins for the first time in the history of Warriors Varsity girls’ lacrosse!  After a slow start with a score of Creek 5 - Arapahoe 1, the game was delayed for an hour due to lightning strikes.  Once the game resumed, the Bruins continued their lead, taking a score of 8 - 4 into the locker room at halftime.  However, the Warriors did not give up, and came back out in the second half with a renewed resolve, seizing control of the game by scoring four unanswered points to tie the game 8 - 8.  Soaked to the bone, and with the rain continuing its onslaught, the girls continued to battle the Bruins with scoring going back and forth.  Then, with only seven seconds left in the game, and a tied score of 11 -11, Kienan Linhardt,  scored a beautiful goal to win the game.  Final score?  12 - 11. This was truly a team effort, with both offensive and defensive players giving it their all.  It should be noted that Cherry Creek has dominated the Centennial League for years, as well as having won numerous State Championships. Now, with a victory against Smoky Hill on Friday, your Warriors can clinch the title of Centennial League Champions!  Exceptionally played, Warriors!  You all are the best!
