The Class of 2009 will be having a meeting on Wednesday, September 3rd after school in room C-4. Come to add your input as we plan for Homecoming week…we need your ideas! Let’s make this the best Homecoming yet! See you Wednesday!

Athletics
The varsity volleyball team lost a tough season opener last night to #5 ranked Mountain Vista in 5 games. Shelby Schacher, Kendra Schwein, and Lauren Bloch racked up over 30 kills combined. Thanks to the players who stayed for the match and the gentlemen who came over to support us. You were awesome! Please join us for our home opener against Rock Canyon next Wednesday at 6:30 pm.
Congratulations to the sophomore volleyball team for their impressive sweep of Mountain Vista in their opening match last night. The team was led by great serving from Allie Jones and stellar defense from Lora Reordon and Becky Gutknecht. Great job ladies.
The JV volleyball team won their first game of the season last night, beating Mountain Vista in three games. The team was led by great net play from Sara Armgardt and Sammi Selzer. Great start to the season.
The Toms are selling 'Spirit Pops!' We will be selling gourmet lollipops with Arapahoe team spirit messages during both lunches in the cafeteria today. These long-lasting flavorful lollipops are a bargain at one for 75 cents or 2 for a dollar. Come support the team and enjoy a delicious treat.
Today is the Morris Vogel Invitational Cross Country Meet at 4pm at deKoevand Park. Forty-two teams will be competing in this annual event hosted by Arapahoe High School. Come cheer your Warriors.
The first varsity football game of the season against Eaglecrest is today at 4pm at Legacy Stadium. Come out and support your Warriors.

Attention Academic Peer Coaches! Please attend a training session offered today from 2:30 – 3:00 p.m. in room C-13!!
Attention Seniors: If you are 18 years of age, or will be by Election Day – November 4, you are eligible to vote in this year’s Presidential election. Please stop by the table outside of the Guidance Office today or Wednesday next week during the lunch periods. Bring your driver’s license with you, see Mr. Booth’s secretary at the table to register and exercise your right to vote!
Seniors! This year is going to be amazing so make sure you are remembered in the yearbook. Senior photos and biographies are due today, Thursday, Aug. 28th in the yearbook room E8. If you have lost the form with the specifications that your senior photos must follow, then you MUST pick up that list from Mr. Anderson or Allison Howald in room E8. If your senior photos are turned in and do not follow the yearbook specifications, then you will be charged and have to submit another photo. Or perhaps your photo will not be in the yearbook.

The boys golf team is off to a good start led by captains David Holtgrewe and Austin Wertz. The Warrior golfers are second to Cherry Creek in Centennial League play. In invitational tournaments they have finished 3rd out of 15 teams at Spring Valley, 4th out of 15 teams at Raccoon Creek, 4th out of 22 teams at Thorncreek, and 6th out of 26 teams at Buffalo Run. Brian Zenk finished 2nd out of 40 golfers at Meadow Hills and Nick Davis Finished 5th out of 40 golfers at South Suburban.

Attention Academic Peer Coaches! Please attend one of the two training sessions offered tomorrow; either at 6:45 a.m.-7:15 a.m. or 2:30 – 3:00 p.m. in room C-13!!
Spanish club will be having its first meeting today after school at 2:30 in C-21. Spanish club focuses on fun events to participate in the community and gives students the chance to experience culture outside the classroom. Last years’ events included: salsa dancing, museum visits and mariachi bands. Today we will be discussing events for the semester and club officers so please join us!

The Muse is Arapahoe High School’s only magazine devoted to the creative arts. It is created by Arapahoe students, and filled with juried creative writing and visual arts. If you are interested in being part of an amazing team of students who will build this year’s magazine from scratch, join us for our first meeting on August 27, right after school, in C17. This is your opportunity to join our creative work. We will be opening up applications for leadership positions at this meeting, so it’s important to come. Check it out in C17 this Wednesday.

Congratulations to the girls’ varsity softball team on sweeping a doubleheader from Overland on Saturday. The Lady Warriors won the first game with a come from behind score of 7 to 6. They then won the second game 13 to 3. Come cheer on the team Wednesday as they play Mullen at 4:30 at DeKouvand Park.
Congratulations to the JV softball team for defeating Overland on Saturday by a score of 25 to 0. Excellent hitting and solid defense led the Warriors to victory. Come out and support the lady Warriors at their next game on Wednesday against Mullen at 4:30 pm at the Arapahoe softball field.
Congratulations to the Arapahoe “C” Softball team who had their first game and win of the season this Saturday defeating Overland 17-2.

Hey Kids! Do you like math and science? Do you want to meet new friends? Do you want to embrace your inner nerd? Then come to the Math and Science Club, 4th hour, after first lunch in the Enrichment Room. We will be participating in all sorts of delightful activities such as: Science Bowl, Science Olympiad, CSU Math Day, Metro Math Day Linguistics, Chemistry . . . you name it! We’re open to suggestions. See Mrs. Durow, Mr. Thurmond or Mrs. Lobser with questions.
