General Announcements

To those students and staff who do not have a scheduled class and who are interested, the library will be broadcasting the 2017 Inauguration in the snack area at 10:00 am today.

The Winter Dance is coming up, Saturday January 28th !  Starting today, Tom’s and Cheers will be selling tickets during the lunch periods, $3.00 in advance, $5.00 at the door.  The Dress is Western Casual, AHS Dress Code Applies. This dance is for AHS students only.

Do you randomly burst into song? Ever dance through the halls? Do you want to be a part of Arapahoe High School history?  Have we got the show for you!  Auditions for the Spring Musical, Parmageddon, will be held January 31st through February 1st in the theatre. Go to the choir room or theatre hallway to sign up! Check Mr. Ahern’s or Ms. Parmenter’s webpage for more information.

Have you taken 3 business classes?  If so, you may be eligible to be a member of the National Business Honor Society.  Last day for applications is today

Key Clubbers! Our first meeting back will be held next Monday the 23rd in E-1287, the tiered classroom. We have important information for you, so make sure you attend.

Come one; come all; tonight to see the Company class perform 12th Night by William Shakespeare.  Admission is free for everyone, so don't miss one of Shakespeare's most famous comedies this Friday night  at 7:00pm in the AHS theatre.

Junior, sophomore, and freshmen students & parents/guardians, you are invited to attend the 2017 College Night on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 6-8 pm.  The keynote speaker will break down the process of the college search and determining which college is the best fit for you.  Please check your email this week for the Google response form that will track your RSVP for two breakout sessions.


Athletics

Hitch a ride to Cherokee Trail  today, January 20, to support the Arapahoe Boys Basketball teams as they take on the Cougars. Freshman play at 4:00 pm, JV and sophomores at 5:30 pm, and the Varsity team will tip at 7:00 pm. Get on out to Cherokee Trail and support the Warrior's ! 

Attention all baseball players.  We will have a team meeting on Monday January 23rd at 3 pm in the Forum.  Winter athletes do not need to attend.

AHS Girls Tennis:  There will be an informational meeting regarding tryouts and the tennis season on January 24 at 6:00 pm.  The meeting will be in Room E-1287 – the tiered classroom across from the theater.

Registration is now open for the 2017 Boys swim/Dive season. Don’t forget to attend the Boys Swim/Dive Kick Off meeting for parents, swimmers and divers will be held in the Library Monday, Jan 23rd from 6 pm - 8 pm. Please plan to attend so you can meet the coaches, captains, teammates, get information and order gear for the upcoming season!

Attention future doctors and teachers!  Today is the day!  The Health Sciences and Teacher Cadet programs are hosting an open house from 3:00-7:00 pm at the Ames Facility.  These programs are a wonderful start to all students considering a career in the medical field or the field of teaching.  Students will get hands on experience and start networking in the career field of their dreams.  Please see your counselor for more information.

The Varsity girls basketball team scored 90 points in defeating Smoky Hill Wednesday night. Elianna McClaire led the way with 16 points. 
The Warriors play Cherokee Trail on Friday at 7pm @ AHS.  Hope to see you there.

General Announcements

Attention students: due to the number of overdue laptops being checked out from the library, the following changes have been made to our policy:  Loaner laptops are available for one day only and must be checked back in to the library by 2:30 pm.   Students who do not turn laptops in on the day they are checked out will be charged $1 per day late to their student account.  If, after five days, a student has still not turned in the loaner laptop, the parent will be contacted and informed that the student has until the next day to turn in the laptop.
If the laptop is still not returned on the day following the phone call, the grade-level administrator will be contacted, and the student will receive a consequence of a morning detention from 6:45-7:15.  Consequences will escalate until the laptop is returned. This may involve suspension. If the laptop is not returned by the end of the semester, the student’s account will be charged the replacement cost of the laptop.

Athletics

Our Ladies Swim Team is gathering coats and warm gear for Denver Rescue Mission.  Please bring your donations to Larkburger, Wednesday January 18th.   Larkburger is donating a portion of the evening proceeds to the Arapahoe Girls Swim/Dive team!

Varsity Girls Swim Dive Team has a home meet today vs. Smoky Hill.  Meet begins at 4:30.   Come cheer on your Lady Water Warriors.

On Saturday, Varsity and Junior Varsity Girls Swim Dive Team hosted the Arapahoe Invitational.  We lead the meet the entire day, ending the day with Diving where Franny Cable broke her own pool and team records!

Franny Cable broke both of her 6 and 11 dive team and pool records this week!  291.10 and 464.20 respectively. 

AHS Girls Tennis:  There will be an informational meeting regarding tryouts and the tennis season on January 24 at 6:00pm.  The meeting will be in Room E-1287 – the tiered classroom across from the theater.

Boys Swim/Dive Kick Off meeting for parents, swimmers and divers will be held in the Library Monday January 23rd from 6-8pm. please plan to attend so you can meet the coaches, captains and teammate. Get information and order gear for the upcoming season.

Come support your Arapahoe Warriors Boys Basketball teams on Wednesday, January 18 here at Arapahoe High School. The Varsity game against Smoky Hill will tip off at 7:00 pm. Plenty of action on the court before that as the Freshman play at 4:00 pm, and JV and Sophomores at 5:30. Bring the noise Wednesday at home against the Buffaloes!

Attention all FBLA Members.  FBLA Competition is in full swing this week! Objective tests are scheduled January 17th and 19th after school in room S1407 and S1409.  Come see your FBLA Advisers in the Business Department with any questions!

Next up for the Varsity Girls Basketball  is Cherry Creek, this Saturday, 5:30, here at Arapahoe .

Come out to Arapahoe High School this Saturday, January 14, to support your Arapahoe Boys Basketball teams as all four teams battle at home against traditional rivals the Bruins of Cherry Creek High School. The action begins at 2:00 pm with the freshman game, followed by the JV and sophomore teams. Your Varsity squad takes the hardwood at 7:00 pm. Come out and rock the house Saturday night against Creek. We own this house!


Congratulations to your Warrior Wrestlers last night. The Band of Brothers defeated Cherry Creek 45-32 in a great Centennial League Dual meet. Winning for the Warriors were Miguel Williams, Joey Tharp, Riley O'Byrne, Ryan O'Byrne, Matt Paulsen, Alex Smith, Nic Bahl, and Riley Schell.

Today after school there will be a Drama Club meeting in the auditorium. If you would like to be involved in the musical this year you won't want to miss all the information about the show. See you in the theatre at 2:30.

Today, Thursday, January 12 Arapahoe Varsity and Dive will be hosting Cherokee Trail at 4:30

The varsity girls basketball team came from behind to beat Eaglecrest 51-45 last night. Maddie Matthews lead the second half comeback and ended up with 19 points.
Next up for the Warriors is Cherry Creek, this Saturday at 5:30 at Arapahoe High School.
