General Announcements 

Are you interested in becoming a teacher? Have you considered the Teacher Cadet program? If so, there will be a presentation in the forum during 4th and 5th periods tomorrow.

Seniors who still want to apply to college and haven’t yet or those students who want to apply to additional colleges, come to the College Application Day this Friday, February 2nd during school hours. Students will receive assistance completing their applications and all associated fees will be waived by the participating colleges and by AHS. If interested, sign up with Mrs. Hall in the Post Grad Center.

Attention Juniors and Seniors! Next Monday, February 5th, the Post Grad Center will host the Community College of Denver and Colorado State University. If interested, please log in to Naviance to sign up.

Attention all FBLA Members. There will be an important study session today after school in room S1406. And FBLA is hosting a fundraiser tonight at Shawarma at 5pm.

Attention Freshmen! Hearing and Vision Testing is taking place this week through Thursday. You will be tested during your U.S. History class. Please be sure to wear and/or bring your glasses or contacts to school this week.

Athletics 

Good luck to our Varsity Toms who compete this weekend at Nationals in Orlando! Live coverage will be on ESPN beginning Saturday, with preliminary performance times at 11:45am for jazz and 6:28pm for pom. Go Toms!!

Our JV and Varsity boys basketball teams play at home against Grandview tonight at 5:30pm and 7pm. Come out and cheer on the team! There will be a jersey give away! Don't miss it, go Warriors!!! 

This Friday and Saturday our Varsity Swim and Dive team hosts the Centennial A League Championships at Arapahoe. On Friday evening at 5:30 PM we will have Prelims. Then on Saturday morning at 9:00 AM are the Dive Prelims, followed by the Championship finals Saturday at 3:00 PM. Come cheer the team to victory!

Last Saturday, our JV Girls Swim and Dive team competed in B League Championships. We had some great swims and dives! We had 7 new A league Qualifiers.This coming weekend is your last chance to root for your Lady Water Warriors before State! This Friday and Saturday our Varsity Swim and Dive team hosts the Centennial A League Championships at Arapahoe. Friday evening at 5:30 PM are the Swim Prelims. Then Saturday morning at 9:00 AM are Dive Prelims, followed by the Championship finals Saturday at 3:00 PM. Come out and cheer the team on to victory!

Come out and support our AHS baseball team tonight by eating at the Garlic Knot restaurant (located at 1621 W Canal Cir, Littleton, CO 80120) For $10.00, you’ll get all you can eat Italian and $5.00 goes directly to the baseball team.

A few important reminders regarding the Boys Lacrosse in February. On Tuesday, February 20th we will have a Pre-Season Information Night for all parents and players grades 9 through 12 who plan to tryout for the upcoming Boys Lacrosse program. The meeting will be held in the School Cafeteria from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Also, our pre-season camp for all prospective Boys Lacrosse players will be held February 20th through February 23rd at Lorenz Park from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Tryouts are February 26th through March 2nd at Lorenz from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Finally, the Annual Spring Fling Fundraiser for the Boys Lacrosse Program will be held at the Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton on Friday, February 23rd. Arapahoe is recognized for our great faculty, so you have to know that the AHS Teacher of Year, as voted on by the entire Warrior community, is pretty special! This year's honoree will be announced at the Winter Pep Assembly today, along with updates on our winter sports and co-curricular activities. Topping off this great assembly will be a group of amazing teachers getting their groove on performing the 2018 Teacher Dance!

Join us this year at our Winter Dance……. The dance will be held tomorrow, January 27 from 7-10 PM in the Aux Gym. Dress is western and the cost is $10 at the door or sold the week before in the cafeteria during lunch. ALL students attending the Winter Dance MUST bring a photo ID the night of the dance.

The Boys Swimming and Diving team will meet and discuss the possibility of a Spring Break Training trip in the Forum today at 2:30 PM.

Congratulations to the Warrior Wrestling Team and their victory over Cherry Creek last night. The Band of Brothers won 10 of the 14 matches defeating the Bruins 57-17 in Centennial League action.

Come and support our Unified Warriors as they take on the Unified Eagles! We can’t wait to watch Jaden set the bar high for scoring and watch Kyle show everyone what a true Sportsman is like.

Your LPS Hockey Team makes their first ever appearance in the top five in the state with a huge 3-1 win over previously fifth ranked Resurrection Christian. The team will be on the road this weekend playing Aspen and Vail and then will be playing back at home on Saturday the 27th.

Last week our Varsity Swim & Dive Girls triumphed at Cherokee Trail. Delaney Smith broke the Cherokee Trail pool record in 100 Fly. JV girls hosted Ralston Valley and also finished with a win! Saturday, we gave a valiant effort at the Arapahoe invite. We took second place out of seven teams. Congratulations Swimmer Emily Abernathy and Diver Kyndall Tatum for qualifying for State! Way to go Warriors. Join us this Thursday as our Varsity and Dive travel to Smoky Hill. The meet begins at 5:00 PM.

All girls planning on, or interested in, playing tennis this spring: There will be a pre-season informational meeting next Wednesday, January 17th at 6pm in the Forum. We will be going over the schedule, tryouts and other important information, see you then!

Your LPS Hockey Team with their impressive victories over Mountain Vista and Pine Creek has helped them break into the top 10 teams in the state and is now ranked #7! Come out to cheer them on tonight when they play Resurrection Christian at 7:15 at South Suburban. This is a big game and they’d appreciate all the fan support they can get. Students get in free with their school ID, so come on out!!!

Tonight, our Varsity and Dive teams head to an away meet at Cherokee Trail, the meet begins at 5:00 PM. Also, our JV girls host Ralston Valley here at home, the meet begins at 4:30 pm today. Finally, this Saturday, January 13th, the Annual Arapahoe Warrior Invitational will be held at AHS. Swim starts at 9:00 AM and diving starts at 1:00 PM. Come out and cheer on your Lady Water Warriors!

Announcements 

Poetry Out Loud is a poetry competition, and it's coming to Arapahoe. Our school competition will take place on February 7, with participating students reciting 3 poems from the Poetry Out Loud anthology. The winner will qualify for the state competition and have the chance to compete for $200 and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, DC, to compete for the national championship--and $20,000! There will be an FBLA meeting today in the forum after school. After the meeting, students can come to the business department classrooms to take objective tests.

Arapahoe High School Winter Dance……. Come with a date, or come with some friends! Let’s dance the winter night away with our cowboy hats and boots on while supporting the Arapahoe Cheers and Toms teams! The dance will be held on Saturday, January 27 from 7-10 PM in the Aux Gym. Dress is western and the cost is $10 at the door or sold the week before in the cafeteria during lunch.

Juniors and seniors interested in learning more about Yale University, sign up in Naviance by the end of the day today and attend the college visit with a student ambassador tomorrow!

In Girls Swim & Dive News: During the break, diver Franny Cable won the Coaches Invite Championships! She also broke her own pool record against Eaglecrest, we now have 9 State Qualifiers!
