Athletics:

Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Lacrosse team as they continue their undefeated streak in the playoffs with a 13-1 victory over Monarch on Saturday.  The semifinal game will be played Wednesday night at Englewood High School against Columbine, game time 5:00 p.m.

As the Spring Athletic Season comes to an end, there are still some opportunities to watch and support our scholar-athletes this week:

May 15:       Girls Lacrosse vs. Kent Denver @ Kent Denver 4:15 p.m. (Quarter Finals)
May 16:       Boys Varsity Lacrosse vs. Columbine @ Englewood HS, 5:00 p.m. (semifinal)
May 17-19:  State Track & Field @ Jeffco Stadium (All Day)
May 18-19:  State Swimming & Diving Meet @ Epic Center in Ft. Collins (All Day)

Announcements:

Warrior community!  Please come celebrate the retirement of our own Mr. Booth today, right after fun in the sun.  We will have cake and punch in the cafeteria from 4-6 p.m.  Students, parents and alumni are welcome.

The last drama club meeting of the year will be held Monday, May 14th at 2:30 in Mr. Ahern's classroom.  At this meeting we will elect officers for next year and next year's after school shows will be announced.  New members are welcome!  You won't want to miss it!

It's the last day to get your year book, which will be available in the cafeteria at lunch. Please come get your yearbook!  By the way, if you liked the year book and want to get involved in producing the book next year, come talk to us. See Mr. Anderson if interested.

Seniors . . . If you would like your collage, please pick it up by today in the front office or at Fun in the Sun.

All books are due back to the library today.   Monday, May 14th is the deadline to pay all fines.  You will not be able to register if you have any outstanding fines with either the library or the bookkeeping office. Be sure to check the library overdue lists located on the bulletin boards in the hallways.

It’s almost here.  The week you’ve all been waiting for – no, not summer break – FINAL EXAMS!  Finals run on May 14th, 15th, 16th, and 18th with 3 exams each day.  Cafeteria service will only be open until11:30 a.m. each day.  All buses will run on a regular schedule. Check with your teachers and look at the flyers around the school to confirm your specific testing times. Prepare and always do your best!  GOOD LUCK, WARRIORS!!!

Attention ALL students who signed up to help at Arena Scheduling.  There will be a short meeting TODAY at 2:30 p.m. in the Forum to go over the duties for Arena Scheduling.  Please be there.

Athletics:

A huge "Congratulations!" goes out to the Girls' Varsity Lacrosse team in their victory over Palmer Ridge last night in Round 2 of the playoffs.  The game was a nail biter, with the two different teams taking the lead, and being tied at different times throughout the game. The Warriors took control at the end and hung on, beating the 10th ranked Bears 16 - 14.   Eight different girls scored goals, led by Allie Camp, Molly O'Donnell and Isley Walker with 3 each.  Kate Englert led the team in points, with 2 goals and 3 assists.  On the defensive side of the ball, goalie Brooke Engel racked up 10 amazing saves.  Defenders contributed with great coverage over the Bears' offense, and Lindsay Sugo and Hope Swearingen each tallied 5 draw and ground ball controls.  Now on to Round 3 next week.  Keep the victories coming, Warriors!

Your ABK Warriors beat George Washington in the first round of the playoffs on Wednesday 6-0!  They play their next game tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Arapahoe so come out and support them on their road to state.  The girls varsity team would also like to thank everyone who contributed during breast cancer awareness week!  We raised over 1,000 dollars! Thank you for your contributions.

Tomorrow the Boys Varsity Lacrosse team will play their second playoff game in the Quarter-Finals against Monarch at Regis High School. Game time is 11:00 a.m. Please come out and support your Warriors!

Attention all Arapahoe Track & Field athletes.  Uniform Check in will take place on Monday in the equipment room after the last Final at noon.  Pizza will be provided to everyone who turns in their uniform at that time.  Go Warriors.

The girls varsity soccer team won their 14 game of the season against George Washington High School with a score of 6-0 and advance to the second round of the state play-offs.  Goals scored by: Amanda Cadorette, Lauren Conley, Stella Norman, Maggie Sexton, Paige Husa, and Rebekah Haysley. GREAT JOB GIRLS! Next game is this Saturday at Arapahoe High School - come support your Warrior team!

This evening, the Varsity Girls' lacrosse team will host their first playoff game, round 2, against #10 ranked Palmer Ridge.  Game time is 7 p.m. at LPS stadium.  Please come out and support the Warriors.  Beat the Bears, Arapahoe!

May is time for the American Speech Language and Hearing Association to celebrate Better Speech and Hearing Month!  Please join Mrs. Sibona, the AHS Speech-Language Pathologist, on Thursday during lunch where you can learn about communication tools, skills and strategies to help people with communication difficulties.  Swing by her table in the cafeteria to learn more and have some fun!  Seniors:  this is a good time to learn about a possible career in speech language pathology.   And to all students:  anything that hurts your ability to communicate can limit your life.  If you have difficulties expressing your ideas or understanding others, see Mrs. Sibona this May during Better Speech and Hearing Month!

Athletics:

Attention Seniors!  A Late Signing Day Ceremony will be held today at 10:30 in the cafeteria. 

Congratulations to the varsity girls golf team for their performance at Aurora Hills yesterday.  All four girls qualified for the state tournament May 21.  Claudia Davis shot a 72 and took 2nd place.  Hannah Wood shot a 75 and finished 5th.  Katy Dyachkova was 7th with a 77.  Holly Schaefer also qualified with an 85.

The Varsity Boys Lacrosse team defeated Heritage by a score of 8-7. Great job gentlemen.

Tonight the undefeated AHS Boys Varsity Lacrosse team plays Heritage in the first round of the playoffs at LPS Stadium. Game time is 6 p.m. Come out and support your Warriors.                                                               

The girls JV lacrosse team ended the season Friday evening with a victory over Heritage/Littleton. They were 2 goals short of an undefeated season. Great job ladies for a wonderful season and Coach Levi once again you had the spirit and energy to coach these girls to such a wonderful season!

Attention all cross country and distance runners, or others who are interested in building their running endurance.  Come to the Summer Running Club informational meeting today at the beginning of your 4th hour lunch period outside at the baseball bleachers. If you are interested but unable to attend, please see Coach Lutz or the cross country website for registration materials.

Attention girls JV soccer players. We will be checking in uniforms today at 2:30 in Room C-7. Make sure you bring everything. This meeting is mandatory.

Announcements:

Yearbook distribution will take place TODAY from 2:20 to 3:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.  You must have some sort of photo ID to pick up your yearbook. This can be your driver’s license, student ID or printout from Infinite Campus.  If you are not sure whether you purchased a yearbook, please check your fee receipt in Infinite Campus or check with Mr. Anderson, the yearbook adviser, or with Ms. Cheney, the bookkeeper.  We will have a limited number of extra yearbooks for sale for $80 payable to AHS.  You may not pick up books for friends or siblings.   Beginning Tuesday, May 8, books will be distributed during both lunches in the cafeteria.  Yearbooks must be picked up by Friday, May 11 in order to get the yearbooks cleared before final exams.

Congratulations to the Girls' Varsity Lacrosse team for bringing home the 3 Sisters Trophy Friday night.  After a three-year drought, the team won back the coveted award, which represents the friendship and rivalry between Arapahoe, Heritage and Littleton girls lacrosse.  On a night honoring our senior players, the Warriors dominated the game and were victorious with a final score of 18-10. Way to go Warriors.

Attention all cross country and distance runners, or others who are interested in building their running endurance.  Come to the Summer Running Club informational meeting tomorrow at the beginning of your 4th hour lunch period outside at the baseball bleachers. If you are interested but unable to attend, please see Coach Lutz or the cross country website for registration materials.

Congratulations to the Sophomore baseball team for a 12 to 1 win over Eaglecrest! Freshmen baseball beat Eaglecrest 21 to 9 on Friday. Way to go Warriors!  Even though regular season is now over, summer ball begins at the end of May. Check the website for schedules soon to be posted and come on by for a home game or two.
Concessions will be open. Baseball makes for a fun day in the sun!

SENIORS … Today is the deadline to return all your Library materials!  Thursday, May 10th is the deadline to pay any fines.  You will not receive your cap and gown if you have any outstanding fines or holds so check the fines those lists.

Students interested in working in the DECA store next year can pick up an application in the Business Office.  Completed applications must be turned in by today.  See Ms. Krueger if you have any questions.

Students attending after-prom; if you are designing t-shirts to wear for after-prom, please remember that they need to be school appropriate. Any student wearing a t-shirt that is inappropriate will be asked to change or to go home to get another shirt.

After Prom wants everyone to enjoy "Game On". Games will fill the After Prom halls. Today is the last day for tickets sales.  They are $15 per student. Please remember that if you want to leave prior to 4 a.m. administration will have to notify a parent/guardian, however, you do not have to have a parent drive you home. Come and have fun at After Prom!

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Tennis Team on winning the 5A Regional this week.  5 of the 7 spots are going to state next week at Gates Tennis Center.  Good Luck to Elly Fryberger, Hailey Johnson, Sarah Demming, Caroline Blakney, Mikala Zafferani, Laura Wilms, Abby Cruz, Brenna Palazzo, and Claire McDougald.  Way to go Warriors.

Students who will be attending After Prom, one of the opportunities you will have that evening is a Splash Party, 2:30-3:30am in the pool.  If you plan on participating, please plan to bring your swimsuit and beach balls.

After Prom wants everyone to enjoy "Game On". Games will fill the After Prom halls. Tickets go on sale for Juniors and Seniors during each lunch. They are $15 per student. Please remember that if you want to leave prior to 4 a.m. administration will have to notify a parent/guardian, however, you do not have to have a parent drive you home. Come and have fun at After Prom!

The Freshmen baseball team won 10-1 over Mullen yesterday! Congratulations, boys! Their final game of the season is at Eagleridge HS on Friday at 4:30pm. Come on out and cheer them on.

Congratulations to the JV Baseball team.  They defeated Mullen 8 to 2!  Way to go!

Varsity baseball plays away VS Mullen today at 4:15.

The Sophomore baseball team hosts Mullen today at 4:30. Stop by and catch a few innings and grab a burger or brat at the concession stand. Baseball season is almost over-don't miss out on the fun!

Attention all members of National Honor Society ...  Our last meeting of the year is scheduled for today after school in the forum.  At this meeting, senior members can just turn in their service logs and leave, and then juniors will hold elections for next year's officers.  For service logs, you can also turn them in at Mr. Smith's desk in the science office anytime before the end of the school year.  Juniors interested in running for office do not need to register ahead of time, but they should plan to speak about their qualifications for 30 seconds to 1 minute.  See you tomorrow at 2:25 in the forum!

Athletics:

It is breast cancer awareness week for the girls Varsity Soccer Team! Jars will be in your classrooms and all donations are appreciated. On Saturday Arapahoe beat Fort Collins 2-0 and the ABK Warriors will be playing their next game today at 4:30 at Arapahoe. Come out and support your ABK warriors as they take on Eagle Crest for the Conference Championship!

Freshmen Baseball got a big win over Grandview yesterday with a score of 9 to 5! Way to go Warriors!

Congratulations to the Arapahoe Girls Golf varsity.  Yesterday they won the prestigious Ashley Forey Invitational.  Claudia Davis took 2nd place in the individual standings with a 74.  Hannah Wood took 5th with a 78 and Holly Schaefer was 7th with an 80.  The ladies finished their 2012 regular season taking five 1st place tournament victories and 2nd in five tournaments.  Regionals are next week.

Attention boys wanting to play soccer next fall . . . there will be a short informational meeting Wednesday at 2:30 in Room C-7.
