Congratulations to the Boys JV Basketball team for winning the Hinkley Tournament this past weekend. The Warriors averaged 72 points per game in defeating Columbine, Hinkley and Fruita Monument. The JV boys are now 5-1.

Congratulations to the girl's swimming & diving team. The team had a 9th place finish at the Coaches Invitational on Saturday. An outstanding performance by freshman diver Beth Ambrozic, with a third place finish. Also, congratulations to freshman diver Dani Howe who had a state qualifying score in her second place finish against Heritage last Thursday.

It’s almost here. The week you’ve all been waiting for – no, not winter break – FINAL EXAMS! Finals run from December 15 through December 20 with 3 exams each day. The kitchen will be open until 11:30 each day. Lunch will not be served. All buses will run on a regular schedule. Check with your teachers and on flyers around the school for specific testing times. The library as well as the Study Center will be open for your studying convenience. Please remember that the school dress code is in place throughout the exam period. This includes pajamas or any flannel pants that resemble them. Good luck on your semester 1 final exams!

Hey Community Service Just ‘Cause members, we are having a meeting today right after school in room C19. Adopt a family was a huge success. Thanks for all your help. It’s our last meeting of the semester so we hope to see you there.

Students, please be aware that during the four days of finals the library will be a QUIET STUDY AREA only. If you need to have group discussions for an assignment please do it in the cafeteria. Thanks for your cooperation & Happy Holidays.

Hey Environmental Science students! If you signed up for extra credit, don’t forget to meet in the science office next Tuesday after finals. If you can’t make it, please let Ms. Durow know as soon as possible.

Tonight is the night! It’s the Annual Holiday Band Concert – bigger and better than ever!! The concert will be held in the theater, and is free!!! Pre-Concert Small Ensembles will start at 5:45pm, with the main concert beginning at 6:30pm. We will feature Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and the Austria Trip Wind Symphony. Senior timpanist, David Steinberg, will be featured with the Wind Ensemble on his solo concerto feature. The Mayor of Centennial, Mayor Pye, will make a special presentation during the Austria Trip Wind Symphony portion of the concert. Hope to see you at tonight’s Holiday Band Concert!!

Attention all Theatre Techies....If you are interested in working on the Winter Play see call board and plan on attending a meeting on Monday Dec. 18 at 12:30.

Attention all swimmers and divers, Arapahoe competes at Heritage at 4 PM today. The meet line-up with changes has been posted on the pool windows. If you are not in the meet, normal practices are scheduled.

The Warrior Wrestlers defeated Cherry Creek High School last night in an exciting dual that went down to the wire 32-31. Great job Warriors.

Thank you to all who helped wrapped toys at the wrapping party Monday. You did an incredible job- wrapping 400 toys in 40 minutes! The next event is the toy delivery to Ashley Elementary on Monday, December 18. Please meet the bus no later than 12:15 in the circle drive. You must have turned in a signed permission slip in order to go. If you turned in, a permission slip and are now unable to go, please let us know because we do have people on the waiting list. Thanks Warriors for all your help with a very successful toy drive again this year.

The varsity boy’s basketball team earned their fifth victory in a row last night defeating Smoky Hill in a 59-54 comeback win. The game can be seen on CET channel 5 at 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 19th. Way to go Warriors!

Hey Animal Lovers! The Animal Deserves Rights Club is meeting for the last time this semester! Bring snacks to share today after school in W104 and help us to quickly review our plans for the shelter. Congratulations to the Knowledge Master Open Team! Arapahoe earned a score of 1342 points and placed 5th out of 25 Colorado high school teams. They scored 100% in the following areas: Government, World History, Health and Psychology. Great job Arapahoe!

The Warrior’s Fresh/Soph Wrestling team did well placing 2nd out of 15 teams at the Chatfield tournament on Saturday. 9 out of 19 guys placed: Casey Holmes, Jake Fields, and Richie Childs took 2nd; Tyler Wharry, Phil Hickock, Patrick Brovsky, Adam Hickle, and Paris Spinelli took 3rd, and Phil Krell took 4th. Good job and good luck this week!

Congratulations to the JV boy’s basketball team for its win over Cherry Creek last night, 54-50. The Warriors came from 10 points behind in the second half. Charlie Henderson hit a 60 foot shot at the end of the 3rd quarter! Also, congratulations to the varsity boys for winning 3 out of 4 games in the Rampart Tourney.

Congratulations to the freshmen basketball team on their win over Highlands Ranch. The score was 69-47. The Warriors played a great defensive game, creating many turnovers and drawing three charges from the falcons.

Army ROTC opportunities: Army ROTC has recently been granted an extension to January 1st to receive a four year, full-ride scholarship applications from graduating high school seniors. We currently have numerous scholarships left to award to exceptional applicants. Please check in the Post Grad Center for contact information.

Are you missing something important? --- Like your car keys, eyeglasses, or jewelry? Please check with the Attendance Office for miscellaneous items.

Ho! Ho! Ho! Did you know there are only three more days to turn in toys for the Toy Drive benefiting Ashley Elementary School and the Denver Indian Health and Family Services Center? Some of the children will receive their only gift for the holidays from our toy drive. We need your help to put a smile on those sweet faces! You can help by reminding your students that time is running short and we need more toys! We will be sorting toys on Saturday morning and wrapping them Monday after school, so it is important to have the majority of the toys by Friday. We know the Warrior spirit will come through and we will make those children smile!!!

General Announcements

Big news at Arapahoe! We won the Broncos Wives Food Drive! Yes, that means the Denver Broncos are coming to AHS. Be in the cafeteria today, during first lunch to meet some Bronco players, cheerleaders, and Miles the mascot. It's Bronco Day today. Wear your blue and orange. Hope you can make it to the special recognition event. A special thank you to Mrs. Parmenter’s choir classes for contributing to our success this year.

This past Friday night our Varsity Cheers and Toms had their biggest competition of the year – The CHSAA State Spirit Competition. Both teams represented Arapahoe well. The Toms performed an excellent routine, and out of 33 teams in the Pom division, our Toms placed an impressive 7th – missing finals by less than 1 point! In the Cheer division, our Warrior Cheers performed a near perfect routine in prelims and made it into the finals, where they performed another outstanding routine, and ended up 4th place in the state out of 38 teams that entered the competition! Congratulations to both our Cheers and Toms on an excellent showing at State this year! Way to go Warriors!!!!!!

Today the library will be closed 6th hour and after school for a staff meeting. If you need to utilize the library please try to do so before we close. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Be in the cafeteria on tomorrow, December 5th during first lunch to meet some Bronco players, cheerleaders, and Miles the mascot. It's Bronco Day on tomorrow, December 5th. Wear your blue and orange. Hope you can make it to the special recognition event. A special thank you to Mrs. Parmenter’s choir classes for contributing to our success this year.

All TSA Members please plan on coming to our TSA Holiday Party/Meeting today. We will be taking our group photo for the yearbook so plan to be there! Congratulations to all members of the Warrior Marching Band for placing 1st Friday night at the Parade of Lights Music and Marching Competition! Also, congratulations to the Warrior Band for placing 1st on Saturday night at the Parade of Lights Decorating, Lighting and Choreography Competition! Your Arapahoe Marching Band is the 2006 Parade of Lights Grand Champion 1st place band!! A $1000 cash prize goes to the band - Congratulations Warrior Marching Band!!!!!

Congratulations to the following people for their success in speech this past week! Ashley Lambert received Most the Outstanding Speaker award at the Cherry Creek Student Congress competition Thursday. Sarah Christensen was ranked superior at the same tournament. At the Overland Speech and Debate Tournament, Amanda Noel received 6th place in Dramatic Interpretation

Attention Knowledge Trivia Enthusiasts. The Fall Knowledge Master Open is scheduled for Tuesday, December 5th after school in the Enrichment Room. Please see Mrs. Lobser to verify your participation.

Arapahoe Thespians attended the Colorado State Convention over the weekend. Ms. Sarah Giest was named "Best Female Vocal Performer” and performed at the closing ceremonies. Sarah and Matt Gottlieb both received all "Superior" ratings from the judges and qualified for nationals. Arapahoe seniors who auditioned for college scholarships all received callbacks. Congrats!!!
Drama Club would like to the thank Mrs. Comp and Mrs. Graham for all their help and we hope they had a good time.

This past Friday night our Varsity Cheers and Toms had their biggest competition of the year – The CHSAA State Spirit Competition. Both teams represented Arapahoe well. The Toms performed an excellent routine, and out of 33 teams in the Pom division, our Toms placed an impressive 7th – missing finals by less than 1 point! In the Cheer division, our Warrior Cheers performed a near perfect routine in prelims and made it into the finals, where they performed another outstanding routine, and ended up 4th place in the state out of 38 teams that entered the competition! Congratulations to both our Cheers and Toms on an excellent showing at State this year! Way to go Warriors!!!!!!

This Tuesday, Dec. 5th the library will be closed 6th hour and after school for a staff meeting. If you need to utilize the library please try to do so before we close. Sorry for any inconvenience.

FBLA we are shopping after school for our family that we adopted. Please meet in Room S1 immediately after school today. Thank you for all of your support in making a difference in a family’s life.

SPEECH CLUB ALERT! We are scheduled to have our club picture taken Monday afternoon around 3:20. We will have our regular speech club meeting in C15 and then move to E8. Please wear your speech T-shirts!

AHS Toys for Tots Update: We are on the way to our goal of 1000 toys for Ashley Elementary and the Denver Indian Health and Family Services Center. Each day, students, staff, and parents are bringing toys to the Attendance Office and it is beginning to look like a toy store!! We currently have 300 toys in our office. We know there are toys out there – some are in classrooms, some you have already purchased, but they are in your car or at home, and some are still at the store!! We need your help. We will be collecting toys all next week through December, 8th. Think about shopping this weekend and put a smile on a child’s face. Bring your toys to the Attendance Office. Thank you Warriors! You can make it happen!

Key Club! Remember if you signed up to go to the Denver Rescue Mission, we meet at the Mineral light rail station on Saturday, December 2nd at 10am!! It will be a great time, can’t wait to see you there!!

Arapahoe is the 3rd band in the parade – we are unit #8. Also, tomorrow night’s parade starts at 6pm, but will not be televised. Good luck Warrior Marching Band!

All new NHS members, please remember that rehearsal for the induction ceremony will be held at 2:30 on Monday December 4th at 2:30 in the theater. All NHS members are also invited to be in the NHS picture at 4pm Monday.

Hey all seniors interested on working on the senior class gift, please attend a brief fundraiser meeting on Wednesday December 6th at 6:50am in room C1. We will be discussing entertainment books.

Athletics

Congratulations to the Arapahoe Swim and Dive Team for defeating Highlands Ranch last night. Our first state qualifiers include Karrah Griffin and Carolyn Pasque! Outstanding performances were made by freshman Devon Smith and Kelly O'Brien! Varsity divers took the top three spots, led by freshman Beth Ambrozic.

Your Warrior Wrestlers opened up with a route of Rock Canyon Thursday night. The Fresh/Soph and JV both won their duals without losing a single match. The Varsity won their dual 62-18. Winning for the Warriors were, David Coulter, Phil Bourgeois, Corey Bossart, Brendan Moss, Levi McEwen, Tyler Schwein, Tucker Korus, Jake Wilson, Matt Ambrozic, Devon Minshall, and Joe Fleming.

The Wrestling team invites you to come and watch some great action on Saturday morning at the 30th annual Warrior Invitational @ 9:00 am. Finals will begin around 4:30 pm.

The Arapahoe swimmers not entered in the meet with Highlands Ranch will have normal practice today. All swimmers not in the meet may practice today. This includes the JV Black team. Practice is scheduled from 5 - 7 PM. There will be no diving practice today. The meet line -up for the Highlands Ranch meet is posted on the pool window entrance. If you are sick or unable to swim let coach Richmond know as soon as possible.

Congratulations to all of the DECA competitors who competed at the District 11 Competition yesterday. Out of the 68 Arapahoe competitors, we had 39 state qualifiers and 16 alternates. These students will have the opportunity to represent Arapahoe at the State Competition in February. Great Job Warriors and Good Luck at State!

It is November 28th and the toy drive has started. We have about 150 toys in the Attendance Office. We need 850 more toys! We want to bring lots of smiles to the boys and girls of Ashley Elementary. If you want to help, please bring a new toy to the Attendance Office by December 8th. With your help we can make this happen!

Be sure and join all our Arapahoe Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion Small Ensembles in downtown Littleton on Friday, beginning at 5:30pm for the Annual Candlelight Walk! Santa Claus will go down Littleton's Main Street starting at 6:30pm. The Arapahoe Brass Ensemble will be the featured entertainment for Santa, right outside Town Hall Arts Center. The festive music will continue down at Bradford Auto Body until 8pm - don't miss a fun filled evening at the Downtown Littleton Candlelight Walk this Friday night!!

“Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle All the Way……Time to Shop for Toys for Tots …to make a Happy Holiday!” The day after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year. Think about shopping for a boy or girl at Ashley Elementary. Our goal is 1000 NEW toys – priced $10-$15. Bring your toys to the Attendance Office after the Thanksgiving break. Let’s make it a great holiday for the kids!

Hawaii Pacific University will be holding an information session on Thursday, November 30th, from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at Cherry Creek High School. All interested students, parents and counselors are welcome to attend! Anyone interested should RSVP by email or phone to lhall@hpu.edu or 1-866-470-0066. Please indicate student name, year, the number of people attending, a phone number and e-mail address. A confirmation e-mail will be sent with directions.

Hey Arapahoe, it’s the Fraser Fir tree sale fundraiser. For a donation of $20, you will receive a credit of $20 toward the purchase of any tree on the lot at AHS between December 1st and December 5th. All proceeds directly support the activities of the School band and the Boys swim team. Pay any band or swim team member and you will receive a $20 credit and admission pass.

Two US Naval Academy cadets will be in the cafeteria today, Tuesday, during both lunches to visit with interested students. Please stop by and get your questions answered.

Seniors: Are you searching for scholarships? The Hispanic Annual Salute scholarship application is available in the Post Grad Center and also online. Begin your application today. Application deadline date is December 6, 2006. Scholarship award is $2000.00.

The team performed an almost flawless routine this past Saturday to capture the title. Way to go girls!
