General Announcements

Reminder Warriors! Voting for Homecoming royalty will be all day tomorrow  in the Cafeteria. Make sure to bring your ID and help us to pick Arapahoe’s finest to represent us in the Royalty court. They will be announced at Monday’s Homecoming Talent Show!

Would you like to hear about a scholarship opportunity worth $180,000?  Then bring your lunch to the Forum during either lunch today. The United States Marine Corps will give a brief presentation on the NROTC scholarship. 

Juniors, the PSAT test is coming. When? . . . October 14! Registration has started and goes through October 7. So, remember to bring $15 and your photo ID to the Guidance Office to sign up for this important test!

Trick or treat! Are you ready for Homecoming Week next week? The theme is Halloween Town and the dress days are as follows: Monday, Mathlete Day; Tuesday, Comic-Con day; Wednesday, Wacky Tacky Day; Thursday, Trick or Treat Costume Day; and Friday, Spirit Day. Remember, each class earns points by dressing up for theme days for the class competition, so be sure to show your spirit!


Athletics

Congrats to the Volleyball Program on their sweep over Mullen last night! A big shout out to the Men of Volleyball who came and cheered varsity to victory! We play Grandview away tomorrow night. Come out and support us for our Homecoming match next Tuesday against Mullen. GO WARRIORS!

It was a fitting end to an undefeated season, as your JV tennis team beat Overland 10-0 at home.  Varsity players are still on the courts, preparing to defend their title at the upcoming regional tournament in October.

Yesterday, the Boys’ Varsity Soccer team was victorious over Mullen High School 5-1. Wilmer Ramirez, Chris Grauberger and Trevor Young scored for Arapahoe. The Junior Varsity beat Mullen by a score of 5-2. Great job Warriors!

Hey Warriors! Come out to the football game this Friday against Heritage.  Arapahoe will be the "away" team for this cross-town rivalry game so everyone (students and parents) will need to purchase a ticket.  Tickets will be available for purchase starting tomorrow during both lunches and will continue to be sold during lunches tomorrow and Friday.  Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for adults.  Go Warriors!!! 
All boys interested in playing basketball this winter. We will have a mandatory parent meeting next Tuesday October 6th at 7:00pm in the forum. You must have a parent present.

Registration is now open for Girls Swimming and Diving!   Go to the team web page and register before Oct 1.  There is a mandatory kick-off meeting on Thursday, October 1 from 5:30-7:00pm in the library.  New swimmers/divers should plan to attend a special meeting in the forum that night from 6:00 - 6:30pm.   It is also "Arapahoe Night" on Oct 1 at Shawarma - have dinner there and mention AHS Girls Swim/Dive and a portion of the profits help the team! 

Hey Warriors!  The "blackouts" at games have been amazing!  We are going to continue showing our Arapahoe spirit by selling the latest and greatest spirit t-shirt for the game this week.  Shirts are $15 and will be sold during lunches today, tomorrow and Friday.  Quantities are limited. Go Warriors!

General Announcements

School Picture Packets have arrived! If you ordered pictures, please pick them up from the attendance office as soon as possible. Picture Re-takes are today from 10 until noon in the main entrance hallway.​ You will need to turn in your packet to the photographer in order to get re-takes.

Are you currently in the Arapahoe Band or Orchestra?  Have you ever wanted to travel and perform in Europe?  Now is your chance!!!  Mr. Funk will be taking members of the band and orchestra on a performance tour of Southern Germany and Austria over spring break of this year and we would love to have you join us.  We currently have 52 students signed up and have room for a few more.  Students can continue to sign up through December 1st.  If you are currently in band or orchestra at Arapahoe and are interested in this trip, please talk to Mr. Funk for more information.

The annual Homecoming parade is approaching soon! If you would like to design your own float, or maybe design one with some friends, please pick up a registration form in the Guidance office! Anyone is allowed to participate as long as you have a staff sponsor. See you at the parade!

All boys interested in playing basketball this winter. We will have a mandatory parent meeting next Tuesday October 6th at 7:00pm in the forum. You must have a parent present.

School Picture Packets have arrived! If you ordered pictures, please pick them up from the attendance office as soon as possible. Congratulations to the Warrior Marching Band and Color Guard for their outstanding performance at the Legacy Marching Festival this weekend!  The band placed 5th in 5A competition and 7th overall with a score of 69.60.  This was their first competition of the year and will be competing again on Saturday, October 3 at the Douglas County Marching Invitational.  Arapahoe will perform at 3:15 PM at Douglas County High School stadium and we hope to see you there!!!

Hey Warriors! The Arapahoe Softball program is hosting a fundraiser at the Garlic Knot this Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm. Come support the softball team and join us for all you can eat pizza and garlic knots. See Coach Krueger with any questions.

Athletics

There’s a sparkling new addition to the trophy case!  For the first time ever, JV boys’ tennis brought home hardware from the Niwot Invitational tournament.  Out of 14 teams, Warrior Gold and Black placed 2nd and 3rd!  It was a true team effort, one they plan to continue as they hit the road to rally with Chatfield this afternoon.

Congrats to the cross country teams for some tough running at the Dave Sanders Invite this past Friday. Out of 22 teams in the big school division, the girls varsity placed 11th, the girls JV placed 6th, and the girls open team placed 4th. On the boys side both the varsity and JV teams placed 2nd and the boys open team placed 3rd. 

Congratulations to the Warrior Varsity football team with their win over Hinkley 28-8 and the JV Warrior football team win 45-0.

Congratulations to the Sophomore Volleyball Team for winning the Heritage Tournament! Warrior Volleyball is away this week at Mullen tomorrow and Grandview Thursday. Thank you for supporting your Warrior volleyball teams!

Saturday, the Boys’ Varsity Soccer team beat crosstown rival Heritage by a score of 2-1. Max Gueller and Chris Grauberger scored the goals, both assisted by Trevor Young. The Junior Varsity was victorious over Heritage by a score of 1-0. Great job Warriors!

The gymnastics team took 3rd out of 20 teams this weekend at the Rebel Rock Invite. There is a meet tomorrow, Tuesday September 29th at Ponderosa at 6 pm

If you were not able to make Monday's meeting it is still not too late to join. All students interested in joining must submit their registration forms no later than Monday, October 5th! You may bring your form to next week's meeting, or drop it off with Ms. McVey in the social studies office sometime this week. Don't forget our next major event, the Mineral Clean up, this Saturday. Meet in the Powell parking lot at 10:30am, bring gloves and a trash bag.

Congratulations to Varsity Volleyball!! They battled Cherry Creek in an exciting match last night. Your Warriors SWEPT Creek in 3 games! Thank you to all the fans who came out and supported us We will see you at our next home game, Tuesday, October 6th against Mullen!

Your Warrior Varsity Football team plays tonight at 6:00 pm at Aurora Public Stadium vs Hinkley. JV will play tomorrow at 9:00 am at Aurora Stadium vs Hinkley. Come out and support your warriors!

Last night, your Boys’ Varsity Soccer team beat Grandview High School by a score of 2-1. Wilmer Ramirez scored a goal, and the strong defense was anchored by James Conley, Evan Bunch, Sam Norman and Trevor Young, among others. Tomorrow will feature of a couple of cross-town rival games as the Varsity matches up against Heritage at LPS stadium at 1 pm. The JV will face off against Heritage in the early game at the stadium at 11 am. Come cheer on your Warriors!

Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors:   The election of 2016 is just around the corner and New Era Colorado wants to help you register and preregister to vote!  Today is the last day they will be visiting Arapahoe. If you are 16, 17, or 18 years old and are a US citizen please bring a state issued ID to school so you can perform your civic responsibility of registering to vote!  Registration will take place in all Government and Economics classes and they will have registration tables in the bubble hallway for those that are interested!



Athletics

In a classic case of never give up, your varsity tennis warriors fought hard yesterday for a 4-3 victory over Cherokee Trail. The JV team defeated Cherokee Trail 18-0 to continue their season undefeated. Only 2 more matches to go!  It’s shaping up to be an exciting second half of the season.  Let’s keep the rally going!

Attention all FBLA members! Don't miss the meeting today after school in E9. We will be hosting a scavenger hunt around the school to earn prizes! It is not too late to join. Can’t make the meeting? No problem you can still join, see Mr. Sawyer or Mrs. Swank in the Business Department.​

The Tennis Racquet drive is still in full force!  Please gather up your old, broken, outgrown tennis racquets and bring them to the office.  The tennis guys will collect them and deliver them to Racquets for All which is doing good for our local community.  Racquets can be in any condition, any size. Hey Warriors! Representatives from Herff/Jones will be here this Thursday and Friday in the cafeteria during lunches to take your class ring orders. Please stop by the Main Office or Guidance Office to pick up an information packet!

Attention all FBLA members! Don't miss the meeting this Wednesday after school in E9. We will be hosting a scavenger hunt around the school to earn prizes! It is not too late to join. Can’t make the meeting? No problem you can still join, see Mr. Sawyer or Mrs. Swank in the Business Department.​

The First Technology Student Association or TSA club meeting will be today after school in Rm E9 from 2:25 - 3:00.  Please plan to attend to find out more about this exciting National organization!! GO TSA!

Attention Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors:   The election of 2016 is just around the corner and New Era Colorado wants to help you register and preregister to vote!  They will be visiting Arapahoe today, tomorrow and Thursday. If you are 16, 17, or 18 years old and are a US citizen please bring a state issued ID to school so you can perform your civic responsibility of registering to vote!  Registration will take place in all Government and Economics classes and they will have registration tables in the bubble hallway for those that are interested!

Congratulations to the Warrior Volleyball Program…they swept Overland in straight sets last night in their home opener!! Come out and support the team this Thursday as they take on Cherry Creek in the Sitting Eagle Gymnasium! GO WARRIORS!

Congratulations to the Warrior Golf Team! David Packer, Austin Duffy, Tom Packer, and Tyler Martinez beat Coronado High School on their home course to advance to the State tournament! A special “At-A-Boy” to David Packer for shooting a 68, the best individual score at Regionals. Good luck at the State Championships!

All lady warriors interested in playing basketball this upcoming winter should plan on attending open gyms this week and for the rest of the fall season! Open gym times are listed on the arapahoeladyhoops.com website. Please see Ms. Hancock in the Language Arts department if you have questions. See you on the court!
