Congratulations to all members of the Winter Guard for achieving Silver Medals at Saturday’s State Competition! Arapahoe is the State Champion Runner-up Winter Guard for 2009!! Athletics

The Varsity Boys’ Lacrosse team started off Spring Break with a resounding victory in its first league game, defeating Smoky Hill 16 - 2. They then continued their outstanding play in Pennsylvania where they played 4 highly ranked teams nationally, including the number 1 and number two teams in the country. They handily defeated 2 of the 4 teams by a combined score of 23 - 6. They almost defeated the other two teams, losing to one in double overtime, and the other by a mere 2 goals and gained national respect for their outstanding performance and conduct. Congratulations, Warriors for a job well done!

Congratulations to the Freshmen Boys’ Lacrosse team for their 9-5 win over Smoky Hill High School! Lance Loken scored 3 goals and goalie, Nick Brown, had 13 saves. Way to go Warriors!

A reminder to all volleyball players that Open Gym begins tonight in the small gym from 7 to 9 pm. See you then!

The girls varsity tennis team lost a close match yesterday to Mullen by a score of 4-3. The varsity is currently 2-1 in league play. There will be no tennis practice today after school.

Congratulations to the Boys JV Gold Lacrosse team for their 5-4 win last night over the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles! Scoring in the game were Alex Knopf, Quinn Booth, Kevin Marr, and Chris Youngblade. The team won in an exciting double overtime, and the winning goal went to Scottie Thompson!! Way to go warriors!!

Good luck to the Freshmen Boys’ Lacrosse team, who will take on Smoky Hill at 10 AM on Saturday, March 21, at Smoky Hill High School.

Homecoming Baseball Game and Pancake Breakfast - Come join us and the Baseball Alumni at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow for a pancake breakfast - $6.00 per person. Stay for the game at 11:00 and cheer the Varsity on to victory against Cherry Creek!The Boys' Varsity Lacrosse team plays Smoky Hill on Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. at the Stutler Bowl. Come out and watch the Warriors spear the Buffaloes. Also, please wish the team luck on their Spring Break trip to Pennsylvania, where they will compete against four of the best lacrosse teams in the Country. Go Warriors!

Hello, Arapahoe! It’s your favorite time of year. No, not Spring Break. WISH WEEK! This week, March 16-20, we will be raising money to send Ryan to Disney World. Make sure to bring your spare change all week! TONIGHT at 7 pm, the competitive and conniving Senior vs. Staff Basketball game will be taking place in the gym. In addition to exciting game play, Stupid Human Tricks will be occurring throughout the game. Don’t miss this fun-filled event, and don’t forget to bring spare change and dollar bills!
Tickets for this event as well as Wish Week t-shirts can be purchased in the cafeteria during lunch.

Congratulations to Amy Barczuk, Becky Bowman and Hanna Hoopingarner for being selected to play at the Colorado Coaches of Girls Sports All-State Basketball Game. The game will be played on Sunday, March 22nd at 2:00 pm at Arvada West High School.

The girls JV Lacrosse team continued their winning season on Wednesday with a score of 12-0 against Eaglecrest High School. Scoring goals for the team were Kelsie Lambeth, Maddison Miller, Margo Cohn, Amy Foster, Amber Olsen, Nicole Lyons, Emma Lattin and Konnar Fitzpatrick

The Arapahoe Girls Varsity lacrosse team defeated Eaglecrest on Wednesday afternoon 21-4. Stacey Birlson led the scoring with 6 goals. The O'Donnell sisters, Molly and Megan, each had a hat trick. Rachel Sutton, Aubry Pullara, Anna Lepry, and Kayla Fasold each had 2 goals, and Stephanie Curtis contributed one goal to the overall total. Their next game will be at Overland on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Today at 4:00 the JV Black Boys Lacrosse will take on Smoky Hill at Powell Middle School. Come cheer the guys on to their 3rd victory of the season!

The AHS Boys JV Lacrosse Gold Team will be taking on Mountain Vista today, Thursday, at 4:30 at MVHS.
Come out and cheer on our Warriors!!

If you would like to write a card to Martin’s family, cards will be available during both lunches today and tomorrow.

Congratulations to the Arapahoe Girls Golf team who tied for first place in the Grandview Invitational yesterday. Sarah Moore was 3rd overall with an 81 and Michelle Gutknecht had an 84.

The Arapahoe Girls Varsity Tennis team defeated Cherokee Trail yesterday by a score of 6-1.

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team on their 8-7 win against the C.A. Mustangs at LPPS (Littleton Public School Stadium) last night. Samantha MacCurdy led the Warriors in scoring with 4 goals and 1 assist. Allie Camp scored 2 goals, followed by Aubry Pullara and Stephanie Curtis with 1 goal apiece. Credit Beth Ambrozic with an assist. The Lady Warriors play away against Eaglecrest on Wed. and Overland on Friday. Good luck Warriors!

Congratulation to the 9 members of the speech and debate team that competed in the State speech meet Friday and Saturday. Ben Horblit took fifth place in the state in extemporaneous speaking. Way to go!

Congratulations to all members of the Winter Percussion Ensemble for placing 1st at Saturday's Longmont Competition! Arapahoe scored close to 87 points, 1.5 higher than their closest competition!! Way to go Winter Percussion!!!

Congratulations to all members of the Winter Guard for scoring a season high 81.5 points at the WGI Regional Competition. Arapahoe placed second at Saturday's Show, which was held at Legacy HS. Way to go Winter Guard!!

The girls' Gold Lacrosse team continued its winning season on Saturday with a 15-4 victory over Lewis-Palmer. Scoring for the Warriors were Sydney Engelhart, Katelyn Manzer, Sam Perkins, Bri Rehberg and Michelle Scott. Great job lady lacrosse Warriors!

The Girls JV Lacrosse Team beat Kent Denver on Wednesday with a score of 10-9. Scoring goals for the team were Maddison Miller, Audrey Damico, Tana LeCavalier, Amber Olsen and Emma Lattin. Congratulations team on the exciting victory!!

The girls’ varsity tennis team defeated Grandview yesterday by a score of 4-3. After stopping play Tuesday night at 7 pm, the girls had a strong finish on Wednesday with the #4 doubles team clinching the match. Congratulations girls!

The Arapahoe Boys Varsity Lacrosse team opens its season today, Thursday, against defending State Champions Kent Denver. The game is at 4:30 p.m. away, on the De So turf field at Kent Denver. Come support your Warriors in their bid to become the 2009 State Lacrosse Champs!

Attention National Honor Society members! Our next meeting is today after school in the Forum. We will discuss Wish Week and the remaining service opportunities for the year. See you there!

Please join the Arapahoe bands for a wonderful night of music tonight in the Arapahoe Theatre. The Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble will perform in the main concert at 7:00 pm. Numerous small ensembles, including the award winning Winter Percussion Ensemble, will perform in the 6:00 pm Pre-Concert. Hope to see you tonight for a free concert of entertaining band music.
Congratulations to Juniors, Blair Larson and Donna Villanyi, for being selected as the 2009 Warrior Marching Band Drum Majors!!
Be sure to plan on having dinner across the street at Chipotle's, tomorrow between 5 and 7 pm. 50% of all proceeds will benefit the band!

Please join the Arapahoe bands for a wonderful night of music tomorrow in the Arapahoe Theatre. The Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble will perform in the main concert at 7:00 pm. Numerous small ensembles, including the award winning Winter Percussion Ensemble, will perform in the 6:00 pm Pre-Concert. Hope to see you tomorrow night for a free concert of entertaining band music.

Next week, March 16-20, we will be raising money to send Ryan to Disney World. Make sure to bring your spare change all next week!
Monday, March 16 at 7 p.m., the talented and charming CU Buffoons will be performing in the theater. Don’t miss it!
Thursday, March 19 at 7 p.m., the competitive and conniving Senior vs. Staff Basketball game will be taking place in the gym. In addition to exciting game play, Stupid Human Tricks will be occurring throughout the game. Don’t miss this fun-filled event, and don’t forget to bring spare change and dollar bills!
Tickets for both events as well as Wish Week T-shirts can be purchased in the cafeteria during lunch.

Athletics

The girls golf matches scheduled for today at South Suburban have been cancelled due to weather.

The AHS Lacrosse Gold team had a great start to the season. They beat ThunderRidge 14-5. Great job Gold Team!!

The freshmen boys’ lacrosse team will take on Littleton, at Goddard Middle School, on Wednesday, March 11, at 5:30 PM. Go Warriors!

Anyone interested in playing softball next year should attend an important meeting today at 2:30 in room N-5. If you cannot be there please see Coach Fazio.

Clinics will be held March 17th and 18th with tryouts on March 20th. You MUST have a current physical on file with the Athletic Office if you want to try out. General Announcements
Congratulations to all members of the Winter Guard for placing 1st at Saturday's Legacy Competition! Arapahoe was .4 above second place Legacy. Way to go Winter Guard!!

Congratulations to all members of the Winter Percussion Ensemble for placing 2nd at Saturday's Mountain Range Competition! They scored an 85.7, just 1.5 points out of first place!! Way to go Winter Percussion!!

Congratulations to Junior Clarinetist, Madison Munn, and the Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs, for receiving special plaque awards at the 2009 Mile High Jazz Festival! Madison was named the best jazz clarinetist at the three day festival. The Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs were named this year's most outstanding jazz combo. Way to go jazz musicians!!

Attention TSA, The next TSA meeting will be today, March 9, at 2:20 in Room E10. We will be passing out National TSA Conference information and paperwork, as well as discussing plans for our TSA tickets to the AVS game on Tuesday March 10. Please plan on coming to this important informational meeting.

Congratulations to all members of the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band for outstanding performances at yesterday’s State Qualifying Concert Band Festival! Wind Ensemble achieved unanimous Superior ratings and have now qualified to perform at State!! Symphonic Band and Concert Band scored overall excellent ratings, and may qualify for state, as well. Congratulations band musicians!

The boys basketball team will take on Ralston Valley in a “Sweet 16” playoff game tonight at 6:30 pm at the Budweiser Event Center. Admission prices are $8 for adults and $6 for K-12 students and Senior Citizens. Go Warriors!

Tryouts for the 2009-2010 Tom Toms will be held on March 17th through March 20th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the auxiliary gym. A mandatory parent/student meeting will be held on March 9th at 6:00 p.m. in the forum. All interested girls should attend.

All Special Olympic Basketball partners and players, please turn in your basketball uniforms to room S6.
