General Announcements

HO!  HO!  HO!  AHS Toys for Tots has a goal of 1,000 toys for Colfax Elementary and the Denver Indian Center.  We now have about 300 toys in the building.  We need 700 more toys to meet our goal.  We only have 5 more school days to bring them in. Watch for sales – the best way to shop, and start bringing your toys in tomorrow.  You make it happen!

Sophomores, the PLAN test results are back! If you took the PLAN, please come to the Guidance Office to pick up your results.

Attention Seniors! Herff Jones representatives will be back to school for makeup graduation announcement and senior ring orders TODAY during lunches in the cafeteria. This will be the last "in-school" ordering opportunity. They will size your finger for your class ring and help with your graduation order. Don't forget you will need a deposit with your graduation order and a separate one for your ring order. Save money by ordering on time. Don't miss deadlines. Extra graduation and ring information packets can be picked up in the Guidance Office.

Science Bowl Team Members, there will be a mandatory meeting either on Tuesday 12/4 or Thursday 12/6. If you would like to compete, you need to attend one of these meetings. If you can't make it, see Ms. Durow or Mrs. Firchau. 

Athletics

The JV girls basketball team came out with a big victory over Heritage last night in their season opener 52-23.  Congratulations!

Congratulations to the Lady Warriors Freshman team.  The Lady Warriors had a great first game as they opened the game on a 7- 0 run and never looked back on a 46-21 win.  It was a great team effort as everyone scored in this total team victory.  Great Job Freshman!

Basketball season kicks off the season this week with games against our Sister Schools.  Varsity boys and girls will travel to Heritage today.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm both nights.  We will be pre-selling adult and student tickets to the Heritage games today during lunches.  Adult tickets are $5, student tickets are $4.  All Arapahoe students will need to purchase a ticket for Friday’s game.  Go Warriors!

The first Heritage Hockey varsity game is this Saturday night, Dec. 1, at South Suburban Ice Arena at 8:30 p.m. This is the team for all LPS hockey players, including many players for AHS, so please come support the team.

Congratulations to the Toms for taking first place at the Mile High Regional Championships!  Their performance was amazing!  Great job, Toms!!

The next TSA meeting is today at 2:25- 3:00 in Room E10.  We will sign-up for State Events and have our Giant Jenga Challenge!  This is our official "Club Photo" meeting so please make every effort to attend.  Hope to see you all there! This will also be the last membership dues turn-in date for the 2nd lettering point tier!

If you want to climb with the Rock Climbing Club on the first Friday of every month, you must come to the mandatory meeting TODAY at 2:30 in Room C4.  It will pertain to important liability information as well as the belay test at Rockin’ N Jamin’, so everyone must attend or talk to Mr. Kleeman in the Language Arts office if you cannot attend.

Tonight AHS will be inducting 22 students into the International Thespian Society.  This ceremony will be held right before the Company Showcase.  Come see the best actors in school perform scenes, songs, and monologues that will used at the state competition.  It all starts at 7:00 tonight in the theatre.  Admission is free!

YOU BETTER WATCH OUT, YOU BETTER NOT CRY, YOU BETTER NOT POUT, I’M TELLING YOU WHY…SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN.  Yes…Santa is coming to bring a new toy for each boy and girl at Colfax Elementary and the Denver Indian Center. The day after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year.  Think about shopping for a boy or girl at Colfax Elementary.  Our goal is 1,000 NEW toys.  Shop the sales for the best buys.  Bring your toys to the Attendance Office after the Thanksgiving break.  Let’s make it a great holiday for the kids!  We know Arapahoe can make it happen! 

Don’t waste your time watching reruns of Dancing with the Stars tonight; the real stars will be out on the football field taking on Valor in the playoffs! Catch all the action live on UStream.tv by searching, “Arapahoe Football”, or by following the link on the school’s webpage.

Good morning, warriors!  Are you hungry?  How would you like a big fat burrito from Chipotle, with chips and guacamole on the side?  Well, now's your chance--submit art, poetry, stories or essays to the Muse by the end of today and you will be entered in a drawing for a $10 Chipotle gift card.  Yes, we're offering it again, during our deadline week!  To submit to the Muse, simply go to our web page, located under "Activities" on the Home page, and you will find directions for how to submit your creative work.  This is your last chance for $10 worth of Chipotle, so get out those poems & stories you've been sitting on and get them into the Muse for publication!  But remember, you must submit your work by today!

Athletics

Arapahoe Fans, the Football Team will be playing in the state quarterfinals tonight at 7 p.m. at Valor. The game will be a Black Out, so dress in Arapahoe Black.  The team really appreciates all your support this year and needs you at the game this Friday. Let's fill up Valor's stadium in black! Go Warriors! 

Tickets for the football game will be on sale today in the Cafeteria from 10:30 am -12:10 pm. Ticket prices are $7 for adults, $5 for seniors, High School students and children 4 and over.  Children under 4 are free.  Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. Only CHSCA and CHSAA passes will be accepted at the gates.

The north fields on the Arapahoe High School campus are closed due to an irrigation project.  These fields will be closed through February 18, 2013.  During this time, students who walk to and from the apartments located to the north of AHS, will be required to use the sidewalks on University and Franklin for accessing the school. The school district will be putting temporary fencing around the project on campus.  For safety reasons, please adhere to the posted signs.
