Did the visit of the Arapaho people to our school last year provoke curiosity of a lifestyle and culture that you’d like to learn more about?.  Wind River Reservation Trip applications are now being accepted,  if you would like to be part of the journey, you must apply. Applications can be found in the Activities/Attendance office, application and essay and must be returned by Friday, February 24th. There is limited space,  applicants will be notified of selection by March 24th.

Sophomores and Juniors:  Anyone interested in taking a Concurrent Enrollment class for the Fall of next year at Arapahoe Community College should plan on attending a meeting on  Wednesday, February 1st in the forum. This will take place during both lunches, so feel free to bring your lunch.  Applications will be available at that time and the deadline to register will be at the end of February. This is another great opportunity to earn both high school and college credit. Please see your counselor for more information.

Please check your LPS email account and take 2 surveys for the upcoming Valentine's Day edition of The Herald magazine.
Free Alive @ 25 class Tuesday February 7th at 2:30pm in room W1874. If you are voluntarily taking the class the Sheriff's Office pays for your $79 fee.  If you are 15 1/2 you can get drivers permit after taking the class and a lot insurance companies give you a discount. This is a 4 1/2 hour class. Sign up on-line. Any questions ask Deputy Englert.

Athletics

The Varsity Basketball Lady Warriors beat Mullen this past Friday 50-43.  Maci Ziegler led the way with 22 points.  Next up for the Warriors, top-ranked Grandview, this Wednesday at 7pm at Sitting Eagle Gymnasium.


Please come out and support your Arapahoe Varsity Cheer Team, Sunday, Feb. 5th at Casa Caliente Restaurant located at 8800 S. Colorado Blvd, just south of C470 & Colorado Blvd. Come anytime between 11am-9pm and  mention that you're there to support Arapahoe Varsity Cheer and they'll give back 25% of profits to go towards the Cheer Teams Nationals Competition.  We would love your support!  Thank you!

Save the date!  Tryouts for the 2017-18 TOMS dance team will take place the week of April 3rd-7th.  Anyone interested in trying out will need to attend the informational meeting being held on Wednesday, March 22nd at 7pm in the Forum.

 Good luck to our TOMS this coming weekend as they travel to Orlando for the National Dance Team Championship!  


 Arapahoe will host the Centennial A league Swimming and Diving Championships.   Friday, February 3rd at 5:30, Swim Prelims, Saturday, February 4th at 9:00 AM Dive Prelims, and Finals will be Saturday at 3:00.  Come out and cheer on our Lady Water Warriors.

College Night is one week from today!   This informative evening will help students and parents learn about managing the college application process.  Detailed information on the keynote speaker and the breakout sessions can be found by clicking on the link in the College Night email that went out to all  juniors, sophomores, and freshmen students and parents.  We look forward to seeing you there!

The Winter Dance is coming up, tomorrow, Saturday January 28th!   Tom’s and Cheers are selling tickets during the lunch periods, $3.00 in advance, $5.00 at the door.  The dance is a fundraiser for Toms and Cheers so please come and support them. The Dress is Western Casual, AHS Dress Code Applies. This dance is for AHS students only.

Attention all Arapahoe artists. The junior class is hosting an art contest for this year's Prom Logo!  Please include the colors gold and purple as well as the name "Putin' on the Ritz" and let your creativity run wild. Turn in your design to Mrs. Crookham in the math office by February 3 for your chance to win a free ticket to prom!

Happy Friday, Warriors! Make it a rocking’ Friday night at home as the Boys Basketball JV and Varsity teams host Mullen. Tip-off for JV at 5:30 and Varsity at 7:00 pm. And, your Freshmen and Sophomore Boys teams play their last home games of the season this Saturday. Get out of bed, come out to Sitting Eagle Gymnasium on Saturday, January 28, and cheer for your Warriors as they play for a season sweep of the Mullen Mustangs. Freshmen at 11, Sophs at 12:30.

In Girls Swim and Dive news: Friday, our B-League swim qualifiers will compete against all the teams in the Centennial B-League Championship meet.  This will be held at Smoky Hill High School beginning at 9:00 AM.
Saturday, we will host the Centennial B League Diving Championships here at AHS.  Competition begins at 1pm.
 
Next week, Arapahoe will host the Centennial A league Swimming and Diving Championships.   Friday, February 3rd at 5:30, Swim Prelims, Saturday, February 4th at 9:00 AM Dive Prelims, and Finals will be Saturday at 3:00.  Come out and cheer on our Lady Water Warriors.

The junior class is hosting an art contest for this year's Prom Logo!  Please include the colors gold and purple as well as the name "Putin' on the Ritz" and let your creativity run wild. Turn in your design to Mrs. Crookham in the math office by February 3 for your chance to win a free ticket to prom!

Attention all FBLA Members.  There is an important meeting after school today in room E1287.  At the meeting you will get your FBLA t shirt and learn about the upcoming district conference.  The FBLA Yearbook photo will be taken after the meeting.

In Girls Swim/Dive News, Tuesday, our Varsity girls beat Cherry Creek yesterday with a score of 168 to 142.  Way to go Ladies!

We encourage you to come support the team as we go against our school rival.  Get a front row seat to see Logan “Lightning” Ashcraft and Maddie “Sureshot” McHugh and the rest of the team get the big win. Can’t wait to see you there!

To those students and staff who do not have a scheduled class and who are interested, the library will be broadcasting the 2017 Inauguration in the snack area at 10:00 am today.

Do you randomly burst into song? Ever dance through the halls? Do you want to be a part of Arapahoe High School history?  Have we got the show for you!  Auditions for the Spring Musical, Parmageddon, will be held January 31st through February 1st in the theatre. Go to the choir room or theatre hallway to sign up! Check Mr. Ahern’s or Ms. Parmenter’s webpage for more information.

Have you taken 3 business classes?  If so, you may be eligible to be a member of the National Business Honor Society.  Last day for applications is today

Key Clubbers! Our first meeting back will be held next Monday the 23rd in E-1287, the tiered classroom. We have important information for you, so make sure you attend.

Come one; come all; tonight to see the Company class perform 12th Night by William Shakespeare.  Admission is free for everyone, so don't miss one of Shakespeare's most famous comedies this Friday night  at 7:00pm in the AHS theatre.

Junior, sophomore, and freshmen students & parents/guardians, you are invited to attend the 2017 College Night on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 6-8 pm.  The keynote speaker will break down the process of the college search and determining which college is the best fit for you.  Please check your email this week for the Google response form that will track your RSVP for two breakout sessions.


Athletics

Hitch a ride to Cherokee Trail  today, January 20, to support the Arapahoe Boys Basketball teams as they take on the Cougars. Freshman play at 4:00 pm, JV and sophomores at 5:30 pm, and the Varsity team will tip at 7:00 pm. Get on out to Cherokee Trail and support the Warrior's !
