General Announcements

*NEXT WEEK IS A REVISED SCHEDULE DUE TO NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY, MARCH 5. Group A will attend their normal in-person days of Monday and Thursday. Group B will attend their in-person days on Tuesday and Wednesday (PLC late start day.)

 

*Attention all Arapahoe Artists… The Art Attack is Back! This year's show will be virtual and we are currently accepting submissions.  To enter, look for the QR code found on signs and screens around the building. For more information or answers to any questions please see Mrs. Hawthorne, Ms. Davidson, or Ms. King in the Art Department.

 

*Seniors! Check out these and other scholarship opportunities in Naviance!

  • Calling all seniors who are planning to pursue a degree in the arts (including performing, visual, and literary) or other related fields this fall: both the Greenwood Village Arts & Humanities Scholarship and The Dorian De Long Arts & Music Scholarship might be for you! 

  • Do you have a passion for STEM topics and plan to enroll in a 2- or 4-year program this fall? Consider creating a 2-4 minute video about your interests and submitting it to the oxyGEN Scholarship Program for $1000 toward your education this fall!

  • Do you have community service hours? Consider applying for the Claire Davis Memorial Scholarship, the Centennial Youth Achievement Award, and the HRCA scholarships! 

  • Are you planning to pursue a degree with an emphasis on climate, natural resources, or the environment? Check out the VOC Grossman Scholarship worth $5000! Deadline to apply is March 31st.

 

*If you are interested in 10th grade Honors American Literature, AP Lang. or AP Lit. please find the application on the Language Arts homepage. Applications are due no later than March 19th.

 

*Students interested in trying to test out of the required AHS swim course can sign up to take the Swim Waiver test this March. The sign-up for the swim waiver will be open on March 1st. Please ask Mrs. Abner if you have any questions.

 

 

*Attention LIFEGUARDS....if you have a need to get recertified in Lifeguarding please email Mrs. Abner. She is offering a Lifeguard Recertification class during spring break on March 25th and 26th. Remember you must have a current Lifeguard certification in order to work at pools this summer. 

 

*Free virtual Alive @ 25 class for Arapahoe High School students is Wednesday March 3rd, 4:00pm - 8:30pm. If you are voluntarily taking the class the Sheriff's Office pays your $79 fee.  If you are 15 1/2 you can get your driver's permit after taking the class and many insurance companies give you a discount. This is a 4 1/2 hour class. Sign up on-line at www.aliveat25.us and the password is "arapahoe". Any questions ask Deputy Englert.

*Juniors, sophomores, and freshman students and families!  Our virtual College and Career Night is two weeks from today! We hope this is an event you will attend each year you are at AHS. Freshman sessions provide foundational overviews, sophomore sessions are more specific to the career and college exploration stage, and junior sessions zero in on topics crucial to the college application process. This event also includes presentations for those interested in community college, trade school, apprenticeships, or entering the workforce with specific skills. There is literally something for everyone. Save the date of Monday, March 8th from 7:00-9:00 PM!  Session details are coming soon.

 

*Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores!  There are six virtual college visits this coming Wednesday.  If you would like to learn about Miami University, Cal Poly, Grand Canyon University, Metro State, UCCS, or UCD, log in to Naviance to sign up!

*Reminder to all students!  Course requests must be in by Monday, February 22nd at 8:00 AM. Counselors will be in front of the counseling office during lunchtime today to answer any course request questions.

 

*Hey Warriors! It’s Share the Love Week Three on ahswarriorsofficial Instagram. For our "grand finale" week please "Pay It Forward."  Simply click on the google form link in the instagram bio (or click this link) and nominate a friend or classmate. This afternoon we will choose three student winners as well as one AHS staff member. Prizes are an apparel item of their choice from the DECA store. Please take a few minutes and nominate someone today!


*ATTENTION ALL ARAPAHOE ARTISTS! Art Attack is Back! Students, our 17th annual spring art show is coming up soon, and we need your artwork! If you would like to submit work for display in our show, please bring it to the art dept by...Friday, March 19. *Congratulations to our 2021 FBLA State Qualifiers! All members are welcome to our after school celebration today in the forum! Come grab your 2020 chapter t-shirts, get info on our upcoming events, and claim your district awards! There is no better way to celebrate than with FBLA!

  • Attention seniors who are planning to major in science or math at a school in Colorado this fall: The University Hills Rotary Club Scholarship, worth up to $6,000, is seeking applicants! You must have at least a 3.0 and a demonstrated financial need. The February 28th deadline is fast-approaching!

  • Are you gifted at creating memes, Tiktok videos, or other creative expressions? DriveSafe and CollegeDrive both offer $1,500 college scholarships to select applicants who submit their most creative work by March 1st!

  • Do you have a documented learning disability, including ADD, and plan to attend college this fall? Consider applying for the Dottie R. Walker LEAD Foundation Scholarship worth $1,000! Apply by March 1st for consideration.
