General Announcements

Members of National Honor Society...  last meeting of the year is next Wednesday after school in the forum. Senior members can leave after a couple of quick announcements,  juniors will hold elections for next year's officers. Juniors interested in running for office, need not register ahead of time, but they should plan to speak about their qualifications for approximately 1 minute.  Service logs can be turned in at this meeting or you can turn them in at Mr. Smith's desk in the science office any time before the end of the school year.  

Attention Juniors and Seniors:  Don't forget to Jet Set to international destinations when you attend After Prom on May 6th.  Your favorites are back - casino, caricatures, tattoos and more along with  new entertainment you don't want to miss - laser tag and hypo-comedian!  Eat all your favorite foods and win amazing prizes!  You will not want to miss out on the best After Prom party in Colorado.  Tickets on sale for $20 during both lunches on May 3, 4, and 5.  Tickets at the door will be $25.  Bring your ticket and ID to After Prom.

If you are voluntarily taking the class the Sheriff's Office pays for your $79 fee.  If you are 15 1/2 you can get drivers permit after taking the class and a lot insurance companies give you a discount. This is a 4 1/2 hour class. Sign up on-line. Any questions ask Deputy Englert

PROM/After Prom GUEST FORMS are due today! Forms MUST have a photo ID of your guest attached.

 Hey seniors! The Herald magazine staff is getting ready for the final issue and we need your help. Remember to complete your senior bucket list form and turn it in TODAY to the Social Studies department office or the journalism room, E-1288. Also, please complete the senior exit survey in Naviance by Monday, May 1st if you want your name to be listed on the senior college map in The Herald!

Seniors-please check your lunch money account this week, if there is a balance you can get a refund, if you owe anything, this account must be paid up, please check in with the AHS kitchen staff. Monies you have left over can be transferred to a sibling or donated to the “Lunch Shares Program”, have your parents check with the Nutrition Services Office.


Athletics

Anyone interested in trying out for the Arapahoe baseball summer teams, we will be holding tryouts May 8th and 9th from 5:30-8 pm on the JV baseball field.

Tryouts for the 2017-2018 cheer team are being held starting at 5:00 p.m. on May 8th in the Wrestling Room.  Please check out the Cheer team page on the Athletic website for more details.


Attention girls hoping to try out for volleyball next fall. We will have open gyms on Tuesday nights from 6.30-9 pm, now until finals week! Please show up early to help set up nets. No forms or fees, just show up ready to play! GO WARRIORS!

Congratulations are owed to our Speech and Debate team for qualifying a student to the National Tournament, being held in Birmingham, Alabama this June. Matthew Yohannes qualified in the World Schools Debate event. We wish our competitor luck at the Nationals Tournament!

Athletics

The week is off to a good start for your ABK Girls soccer teams.  Monday, the Fresh/Soph team got a win over Fairview by a score of 1-0 and yesterday your Varsity team beat Overland 10-0 and JV beat Cherry Creek 9-1.  Please come out today and cheer on your Fresh/Soph team as they wrap up their season against Overland at 4:30 on the JV Soccer Fields.  GO ABK!!!


Boys Basketball - All players returning or interested in playing next year.  We will hold a brief mandatory meeting after school today in Mr. Rottshafer's room.

Congratulations to the Wind Ensemble Saxophone Quartet for a great performance this past Saturday at the Colorado High School Activities Association Solo and Ensemble Festival!!!  The quartet earned straight superior ratings from each judge and an overall SUPERIOR rating at the festival.  Congratulations!!!

Tonight is the annual FBLA Volleyball Tournament.  The tournament starts at 6 pm and will be in the main and auxiliary gym's. Come see your friends and favorite teachers dress like Superhero's, while trying to win the trophy. The cost of admission is $3 at the West entrance.

Athletics

It was a busy week last week for your ABK Ladies soccer teams.  Your Varsity team played well last week which was highlighted by a huge win over Cherokee Trail last Thursday night by a score of 6-2.  

The team next plays Tuesday at 4:30 at Overland High School.  Your JV ABK went a perfect 3-0 last week with shut outs over Smoky Hill, Cherokee Trail and Regis.  JV has no games this week.

Finally, your Fresh/Soph team had a great win on Friday over Cherokee trail.  They wrap up their season this week with home games against Fairview today at 4:30 on the JV soccer field and then on Wednesday at AHS versus Overland.  Please come out and cheer the team on to Victory!  GO ABK!

Congratulations to your Water Warriors this past weekend! They came home with victories in both the swimming and diving portions of the Jeffco Invite to combine for 1st place overall!

The 4 x 100 relay also broke the meet record!  Come out to Regis on Tuesday as they take on the Raiders! Meet starts at 4:00

Come be a part of the Out Of the Darkness Campus Walk; hosted by Dakota Ridge join thousands of students across the country as we walk to raise money to bring mental health conditions out of the darkness. Be the difference as we walk to fight suicide at Dakota Ridge High School on April 29. Registration begins at 10 am and the walk begins at 11. Check out afsp.org/CampusWalks or ask Mr. Wadsworth for any further questions.

Ralston Valley High School is the place to be this weekend to cheer your Warriors on in defending their 2016 title at The Jefferson County Invitational. It promises amazing Warrior swimming and diving starting Friday afternoon and continuing through Saturday evening. Go, Arapahoe!
