General Announcements

Congratulations to the ladies and staff of the Arapahoe Winter Guard! They had a great performance at Pomona High School this past Saturday scoring 70.7 points out of 100!  The Team is currently at the top placement of all other Scholastic Guards in Colorado. It looks like it’s going to be another amazing season for these fine students!  Way to represent AHS!

Congratulations to the following students for their performances in this past Saturday's Jefferson County Invitational Speech and Debate tournament held at Green Mountain High School:
·   Joe Redmond took first place in Poetry Interpretation 
·   Karl Pierson placed fourth and Cal Benasso placed sixth in National Extemporaneous Speaking 
·   Cole Trujillo took fourth place in International Extemporaneous Speaking
·   Angie Mock went undefeated in Lincoln Douglas Debate earning her a finalist ribbon
·   Additionally, eight other members of the team earned Excellent ribbons for their efforts 
The speech and debate team has a mandatory meeting after school Tuesday at 2:30 in C15. All members must attend. The main meeting topic will be participation in the State Qualifying Tournament. Other important agenda items will be discussed, too.

Come to Key Club today to make Valentines for the Holly Creek Senior Center and help us deliver them on Valentine's Day.  There will be cookies and you can pick up your Key Club pin and membership card.

A reminder to all FBLA students, a study session will be held Tuesday evening.  If you have signed up for the study session, please meet at 6:15 in Room S2.  If you are competing in the FBLA District Competition and have not signed up for the study session, please see Mr. Sawyer or Mrs. Swank today in order to sign up.  

Attention Returning LINK leaders:  This week is the final week to complete 2013-2014 Commissioner applications.  Applications are due on Valentine's Day; they are available on Mrs. Moritz's desk.  If you've turned in an application, please remember that you also need to get three teacher recommendations and complete an interview in order to be considered.  If you have questions, please contact any LINK sponsor.  

Only two weeks left until the TSA State Conference . . . hope you are getting prepared for your events and your projects are coming along nicely!!!  Due to a staff meeting Wednesday after school, the TSA club will not meet on Wednesday, but the Woodshop and Tech Lab will be open after school, today, tomorrow, and Thursday for you to come work on your projects.  Chapter Team and System Control should plan on getting together to practice one of these days!

Any Sophomores and Juniors interested in taking classes next fall through the Concurrent Enrollment program at Arapahoe Community College should plan on attending a short meeting this Thursday, February 14th. Please come to Room C-2 during your lunch and applications will be handed out. The deadline to sign up for these classes is March 4th. Please stop by the Guidance Office with any questions. 




Athletics

Congratulations to the Varsity girls basketball team for their win Friday night  over Eaglecrest 65-28. The win featured balanced scoring with 10 players contributing and great "team defense".  The win moved your 4th ranked Lady Warriors season record to 17-2. The Lady Warriors will be back in action on Wednesday night at Overland.  Plan to go to Overland and support your Lady Warriors!

The JV girls basketball team got another big win Friday night against Eaglecrest 79-33.  We had four girls score in double figures again, Jennah Knaflec 16 pts, Katie Crowley 12 pts, Paige Husa with 11 pts and Maria Haas with 11 pts.  Their overall record is 12-2 and they travel to Overland High School this Wednesday and then play Mullen at home this Friday.  Please come out and show your support!

Congratulations to the Freshman girls basketball team for finishing undefeated in league play this year.  They won their last home game against Eaglecrest by the score of 58-35.  It was a great team win.  They earned the #1 seed in their tournament.  Keep up the great work!

Congratulations to the girls Swimming and Diving Team for placing 4th at the 5A State Swim Meet this weekend.  The team was lead by Sophomore Ella Moynihan and Senior Emily Mayo.  Moynihan broke the team record in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle while Mayo broke the team record in the 500 freestyle.  Congratulations on a great season girls!

Please come out and support the Special Olympic basketball team as they go up against ThunderRidge High School tonight at 7:00 p.m. here at Arapahoe High School's main gym.

Spring baseball players must register for tryouts at ahswarriors.org.  Mandatory booster club meeting for parents and players on Tuesday, February 12th at 7 p.m. in the Forum.

If you are interested in participating in track and field this spring you need to stop by the mens PE office and see Mr. Serniak to receive information regarding the third annual track camp. The camp starts on Tuesday, February 19th and runs through Friday, February 22nd.  Athletes will compete in different events each day as well as begin training for the upcoming season.  All interested track and field athletes must also register for the regular season.  This can be done online at ahstrack.com
