General Announcements

As many of you know, your parents can access information about your attendance and grades online through the LPS Campus Portal. Students can access that information as well. Click on the link to the LPS Campus Portal from the AHS Web Site and login using your student id number as your login, and your 6-digit birth date as your password. For example, if your birth date is January 3, 1990, your password would be 010390.

All past speech team members, or students interested in joining the speech team, please come to the meeting today at 2:30, Room C18.
  
Attention all juniors!  If you are interested in being the junior class Treasurer, please see Ms. Abner in the PE office or Ms. Ackerman in the English office to pick up an application.  You will not have to run, just turn in your application!!!

Did you know that over the last 24 years, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver has built 230 homes housing over 1000 people and worldwide, Habitat for Humanity has built over 200,000 homes?
If you would like to be a part of this come to our organizational meeting in room C-18, after school today. Hope to see you there.

If you are interested in being part of an amazing team of students who will build this year’s magazine from scratch, join us for our first meeting on August 31st right after school, in C-17.  The last day of August is the first day of your opportunity to join a team that is doing something completely different.  Anyone interested in leadership positions in the Muse must attend this meeting, or see Mr. Miles in the English office. Come check out the Muse today in C-17.

The DECA Store is taking care of business…offering frappucinos, swim goggles, safety glasses and book covers!  Please stop by and check out the newly remodeled DECA store and the Fall 2005 clothing line.

Hey FBLA members and all those interested in joining.   FBLA paperwork will be available this morning in the business office.  Thanks to everyone for stopping by for our first meeting, we had an excellent turnout and look forward to an exciting year.  See you September 12th for our next meeting.


Athletics

Congratulations to the Golf team who is in second place in the West Division of the Continental League behind defending state champion Thunder Ridge.  Captain Eric Finley led the way with a 72 at Grand Elk Country Club.  Sophomore Dalton Becky’s 72 was the lowest score at Murphy Creek Golf Course.  .  Freshman David Holtgrewe’s 74 was the 4th best score overall at Riverdale Knolls Golf Course.  Captain Ben Scully had the 8th best score out of 84 golfers at Bear Dance Golf Course and Sophomore Steven Moore’s 73 was the 3rd lowest sore at Highlands Ranch Golf Course.


The Boys Varsity tennis team lost to Mountain Vista last night by a score of 1-6.  Winning for the Warriors were Brian Craig and Jeff Maxey.  The JV team lost 3-9.  Winning for the JV team were:  Wade Schuette/Ryan Beckett; Mitch Reagan/Calvin Leas; and Joey Miller/Corey Crellin.  Our next home match is this Thursday against Douglas County.  Varsity plays here at AHS, JV at Powell-hope to see you there.



Student Initiated Groups-

Attention Young Democrats:  We will have our first meeting today after school in room C6.  Plans for the year issues of concern will be discussed.  You don’t even need to be a Democrat.  Bring a friend.

We’re just about to kick off another great year of the club CSJC, Community Service Just ‘Cause.  We will go to an animal shelter several times, an elementary school and more!  It is a great way to meet new people, it’s a ton of fun, AND it looks great on college applications!  So join CSJC!  Our first meeting is Thursday September 1st at 2:15 in room C-19.   It will be a quick meeting so that everyone can get to their after school activities.  Hope to see you there!
