The Muse ipoem contest has concluded and our semi-distinguished panel of judges has made a decision. We enjoyed viewing and hearing them all, and had a difficult time choosing our first place winner, who will receive an ipod shuffle. We’d like to announce our top winner as well as two runner ups, who submitted fine poems. You can find all 3 poems on the Arapahoe web site.

1st Place, for the poem “Cthulu (pronounced ku-thew-lew) Converses with his Master” by Allie Fresch

1st runner up, for the poem “Tekel” by Olyver Mycroft

2nd runner up for the poem “The Difference Between Life & Living” by Brittany Knigge

Allie, please come by the Language Arts office and see Mr. Miles to pick up your new ipod shuffle! Thanks to all who participated, and thanks to Mrs. Graham!

Tonight be sure and tune your FM radio to 89.3 – KUVO – the Jazz Station. At 7pm you’ll hear a one hour live broadcast of our top Arapahoe Jazz groups – Jazz I and The Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs. Don’t miss it! And good luck to all our jazz musicians!!

Tomorrow night is the Annual Spring Band Concert in the Theatre. The Pre-Concert Small Ensembles will start performing at approximately 5:50pm, followed by the main concert at 7pm. We’ll be honoring the Class of 2008. Be sure and catch flute player, Roxy Steinberg, performing her senior feature, “Carmen Fantasy!” The grand finale of the night will be all 3 bands combined, in a premiere performance of next year’s exciting marching band field show, “Triumph of the Valiant!”

The award winning Arapahoe Color Guard is holding clinics and auditions for the 2008-09 school year. Please plan on attending today’s tryout clinic from 3 until 5pm. Another one will take place tomorrow at the same time. Tryouts will be held on Thursday, May 8th from 6 until 9pm.
