Bronson Dowd and Cassie Davis qualified to represent Arapahoe at State in Public Forum after going undefeated through the tournament. Bronson Dowd also competed and qualified in Extemporaneous Speaking. Nice Job, Warriors.

The Girls' swim team banquet will be held Tuesday, March 1 at 6:15 in the cafeteria. To save both time and money this will be a dessert only banquet. There is no cost to attend. See all you swimmers there!

Poets, artists, and prose writers who will be in the 2011 edition are posted in the Muse glass case near the Language Arts department. The judging was especially difficult this year, as we received so much good work. If your work was not accepted, please try again next year. We look forward to seeing all accepted artists at the Muse Showcase, which will be Thursday March 31st.

That seeding allowed the Lady Warriors a bye in the 1st round and they will play here at AHS on Friday night at 7:00 PM against the Pine Creek Eagles. Come out and help your Lady Warriors get to the “Sweet 16” round by beating Pine Creek. Ticket prices will be $6 for adults and $5 for all students grades K-12. No SBA passes will be accepted at this game. Go Warriors!
Come support Boys Basketball on Saturday afternoon right here at Arapahoe as the Varsity team hosts Grand Junction at 2:00 PM in the 2nd Round of the state playoffs. Student passes are not valid for state tournament games, so keep in mind that admission for students is $5. There will be a pre-game pep rally with FREE pizza and drinks at 12:30, (while supplies last) so join in at the auxiliary gym as we get ready to treat Grand Junction to a black out -- Arapahoe style! Hey guys…don’t let your 18th birthday go by without registering with Selective Service. There’s really nothing to it, and you’ve got to do it. After all, it’s the law and it only takes 5 minutes. Besides, you must register to be eligible for federal student loans, job training benefits, most federal employment, and enrollment in state colleges and universities. So, if you’re a guy about to turn 18, you can register at the Post Office or go online at www.sss.gov. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Snyder in the Guidance Office.
Attention all DECA members attending the state competition! There will be a mandatory meeting today at 2:20 in the Forum. Please see Mrs. Grantham ASAP if you cannot attend as important information regarding the trip will be discussed in the meeting.

All TSA members should plan on attending the final TSA Celebration meeting today in room E10 at 2:25 promptly. We will be taking our “TSA Club” yearbook picture during this meeting at 2:30. Wear your TSA State T-shirt. We will have a celebration cake, pass out our state certificates/awards, and discuss Nationals. Everyone should plan on attending! Meeting should be over by 3:00 pm
The jazz studies department presents a Winter Jazz Concert, tonight at 7pm in the theater. The concert features our talented jazz students, and includes Jazz l, Jazz II, and a student combo. There is no fee, so come and enjoy this entertaining evening of toe tapping music.

Warriors come out and support the AHS Special Olympic basketball team as they go up against the Englewood High School team tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the Arapahoe High School’s main gym. We will also be recognizing our senior players and partners during half time.

Congratulations to Sabrina Dermody who won The 2011 Prudential Spirit of Community President’s Volunteer Service Award. She was selected for her hours of dedication to volunteerism in her community. Congratulations for being a role model for other young people in the country

Auditions for the 2011-2012 Tom Toms will be held on March 15th through March 18th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the auxiliary gym. A mandatory parent/student meeting will be held on March 7th at 6:00 p.m. in the forum. All interested girls should attend.

This announcement is for all 17 and 18 year old young men. If you have not registered with the Selective Service, this is the time to do it. Federal law requires all men living in the US to register within a month of their 18th birthday. Registering keeps you eligible for college loans, job training, government jobs and driver’s license renewal in most states. You can get a Selective Service registration card at your local post office or register online at www.sss.gov. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Snyder in the Guidance Office. Be sure to register for Selective Service as soon as you can. Your future depends on it.

General Announcements
The National Honor Society children's book drive is nearing its completion. We've received lots of very kind donations of books for children aged 3-5, but the kids at the Head Start Program could definitely use a lot more of your generosity! So if you haven't done it yet, please use this long weekend to take a look through your stash of old pre-school books, and bring in any gently used books that you can spare. Remember that the donation box is located right off of the north hallway, next to the language arts office. Thanks!

Congratulations to the Winter Guard on a wonderful performance at the Arapahoe Invitational held this past Saturday night. After hosting 20 talented teams from throughout Colorado all day and night, our team went out and earned the highest score of the competition.
Congratulations to Tuba Player Tim Kloewer on being selected to perform with the 2011 Carnegie Hall Honor Orchestra. Tim will represent Arapahoe High School this weekend in New York.

Tonight is the night for cool jazz!! Euclid Middle School is hosting the LPS District Jazz Showcase, featuring all of the jazz bands in our school district. Admission is free, and the performances will run from 5:30pm until 9:00pm. Our Arapahoe Jazz Ensembles will be performing at 6:50pm and 8:10pm. Concessions will be available for purchase.

The win moves the Lady Warriors league mark to 9 and 1 and maintains their 1st place position in the Centennial League. The win moves the Lady Warriors into soul possession of 1st place in the Centennial League. Our JV Ladies won 59-56. Great Job Ladies! The boys sophomore basketball team will practice today after school in the Auxiliary Gym beginning at 2:30.
The Arapahoe Swimming and Diving team placed 2nd in the Centennial League Championship meet on Saturday. The following individual swimmers qualified for the state meet: Rachel Getz, Jordan Shomaker, Ellen Johnston, Morgan Dickie, Georgia Burns, Hillary Redmond and Alyssa Countway.
All “A” League participants will need to attend a very important follow-up meeting afterschool.
There will be a boys lacrosse pre-tryout meeting tonight in the AHS cafeteria at 7:00 p.m. Please plan on attending this meeting with a parent if you want to play boys lacrosse.

It’s time to brush up your Shakespeare! Tickets for A Midsummer Night’s Dream are on sale during lunches. Tickets are $5.00, and the show continues tonight and tomorrow night. All tickets are reserved seating. Come see this unforgettable production!
Integrated Science students: If you are a Tuesday lab student, there is no need to come to make up lab. However, there will be a regular make up lab on Monday February 7, after school. This will be for Lab 4-Fruitvale.
Biology students: If you are a Tuesday lab student, there is no need to come to make up lab. However, there will be a regular make up lab on Monday February 7, after school. This will be for Lab 4-Fungus.

The Arapahoe Debate team had wonderful success this weekend at the National Qualifiers for Student Congress. Senior Cassie Davis was honored as presiding officer of her house and Junior, Kati Ansay, was voted best speaker in Senate and is going to be representing Colorado at Nationals, this summer, in Dallas, Texas.
