General Announcements

Today marks the beginning of the National Honor Society book drive! We are collecting new or gently used books for children ages 3 to 5, to benefit the Head Start Program. A big yellow collection box is located in the hallway next to the Language Arts office, so help us get that box filled! The drive only runs throughout this week, so please go home tonight and see if you can find any of old pre-school books of yours or your siblings, and then bring your books back in soon! Thanks for your help with this important program!

NHS members, we have a short meeting after school this Wednesday February 16th. We have some important information to share with you about upcoming volunteer opportunities, so please plan to be in the forum by 2:25 on Wednesday!

Congratulations to the Winter Guard on a wonderful performance at the Arapahoe Invitational held this past Saturday night. After hosting 20 talented teams from throughout Colorado all day and night, our team went out and earned the highest score of the competition.

Congratulations to Tuba Player Tim Kloewer on being selected to perform with the 2011 Carnegie Hall Honor Orchestra. Tim will represent Arapahoe High School this weekend in New York.

Congratulations to all Arapahoe TSA members who competed against approximately 700 other students from around the state in this weekend’s State TSA conference. You were all fantastic! Congrats to the following students who placed top 3 in their events: Troy Witonsky -1st Place in Career Comparisons, George Darling – 1st Place in CO2 Dragster Design, Emily Haskins – 1st place in Essays on Technology, Nash Jekot &Emily Haskins – 2nd place in Debating Technological Issues, George Darling, Ethan Bilek, & Nicholas Sabo – 2nd place in Technology Bowl, and Michelle Jewett & Nicole Jewett – 3rd place in Biotechnology Design. Way to go!! Special thanks go out to Paul Fritter & Sean Fritter for running for state officer positions, AHS is proud of both of you! Special congratulations to Paul Fritter for being elected as the 2011-2012 State TSA Sergeant at Arms!
Athletics

Congratulations to the Warrior Wrestling Team. The Warriors finished fourth overall and qualified four wrestlers to the state meet at the Pepsi Center beginning Thursday. Qualifying for the Warriors are Seth Hardcastle, Jeff Rice, J.J. Rohde, and Joe Ziccardi. Good Luck!

Attention all volleyball players: If you are interested in trying out for volleyball in the fall, please plan to attend a short informational meeting Wednesday, February 16 immediately after school in Room W101. We will discuss upcoming spring and summer events. If you cannot attend, see or e-mail Coach Syers asap.

Coach Cook will be holding a boys diving meeting on Tuesday, February 15th at 3:30 pm in the Pool Area. All boys interested in the boys diving team this year are encouraged to attend.
