General Announcements

Congratulations to the Warrior Marching Band and Color Guard for placing 2nd overall in the 5A Metro Regional Qualifying event on Thursday night.  The Band scored a 74.60!  The band is currently ranked 6th in the state for all 5A bands and have secured an automatic bid into the State Championship semi-finals competition!!!  The band will perform at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 in semi-finals competition at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.  We hope to see you there!

Hey Arapahoe! Do you like those big fat juicy burritos at Chipotle across the street?  The Muse is having a special drawing! If you submit a story, poem or artwork to the Muse ANY DAY THIS WEEK, your name will be entered into a drawing for a free $10 Chipotle gift card!  That's right, $10 worth of burritos!  For more information on how to submit, see the Muse page under activities on the Arapahoe webpage.

If you are currently in the process of applying for National Honor Society, remember that your application packets are due, along with an application fee of $15, by today no later than 3:00 p.m.  Thank you.

Warriors, do you know what week it is? It’s Safe Schools Week! Today’s event is Delete Day, so be sure to delete negative comments, and “friends” that you don’t know well on all your social media sites. Also be sure to check out the You Matter table today during lunch to sign the chain and sign up for Wednesday’s games. Don’t forget to wear yellow on Wednesday! 

Attention Dodgeball Players:  All players must attend a MANDATORY rules meeting before the tournament. There will be a meeting tomorrow, Oct. 23 at 5:15 in the Forum. There will also be a meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 2:30 in the Forum.  Every player on your team must attend one of these rules meeting. Attendance will be taken at the meeting. If you do not attend one of these meetings, you will not be allowed to play in the tournament.

We are excited to see everybody at the next TSA meeting this Wednesday, October 24th@ 2:25- 3:00 in Room E10.   If you are interested in Web Design, CO2 Dragsters, Rubberband Airplanes & Cars, Digital Photography, CAD, Bridge Building, Public Speaking and Debate, then this club is for YOU!    This will be the first club fee turn-in date.  If you plan on attending the TSA Leadership conference, your forms & money are due also.  Hope to see you Wednesday!

Juniors and seniors: Please check the college visit list on Naviance for recent additions. CU Boulder is visiting this Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m.  Colorado State University is visiting on Thursday, November 1st at 9 a.m. Both visits will be held in the Forum.

Sophomores, don’t forget about the opportunity to take the PLAN, a practice ACT test, on Saturday, November 3rd! Register in the Guidance Office now through Monday, October 29. The cost is $12.

Did your order a yearbook?  Do have a library fine?  Lists are posted on the bulletin board by the bookkeeper's office.  Yearbooks are $65 and may be ordered until November 16, so check the list and make sure you are set to get yours!

Do you have canned foods just sitting around at home? Bring them to school October 31- November 9 to support Food Bank of the Rockies!

Once again it’s time for the annual Halloween Candy Jar Count in the Library!!  Starting Wednesday, October 24rd come down to the library and guess how many Halloween candies are in the glass jar!  The student who comes the closest to the actual amount …. will win the jar full of candy!  Only one guess per day.  The winner will be announced on Halloween during the daily announcements.  Happy Halloween from your AHS Library Staff!

Hey Warriors, stop by the Attendance Office or the DECA Store and drop off your idea for the Prom theme this year. The idea box will be in both locations for the next two weeks so stop by and give us your input.

Athletics

The Arapahoe High School Swimming Clinic will be held Monday through Thursday for three weeks beginning today. The clinic will be in the swimming pool from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m.  All interested boys and girls are invited to attend.  See Coach Richmond for information in the swimming pool office.

Winter Sports Registration is coming!  Girls Swim/Dive on Tuesday, October 30th, Boys and Girls Basketball on Wednesday, October 31st and Wrestling will take place on Thursday, November 1st. Please bring your completed paperwork to the Cafeteria between 10:30 am and 12:10 pm during one of these three days.  Required paperwork can be picked up in the Athletic Office or online at www.ahswarriors.org.  Do not delay your registration or it will hinder your participation in tryouts beginning on Friday, November 9th!

Heritage Hockey CHSAA Varsity tryouts are coming up Nov. 9-10!  All LPS high school ice hockey players are welcome to try out!  Please visit www.heritagelpshockey.org for details.
