Announcements:

You are invited to the Spring Band Concert at Arapahoe High School tomorrow night in the Theater at 7:00. The concert is free and features the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Southern California Trip Band!!!

TCAP begins on Monday, March 5th. Freshmen and Sophomores need to report to school by 7:15 a.m. Monday. Please check out the TCAP Room Assignments that are hanging on the Security Office wall in the Cafeteria for your assigned room. Juniors and Seniors will not be allowed in the building before 11 a.m. All students will begin classes at 11:35. Schedules are posted around the building.

The State of Colorado has mandated that Littleton Public Schools raise student lunch prices to meet state requirements. This Thursday, March 1st, the current $2.75 student lunch price will increase to $2.90 and adult meals will increase to $3.40.

Athletics:

The Arapahoe Girls Basketball team has advanced to the "Sweet 16" round of the 5A State Championships! The girls will host ThunderRidge tonight in the Main Gym at 7:00 p.m. Ticket prices will be $8 for adults and $6 for students. All students will need to purchase a ticket to attend these games. Go Warriors!

Seniors interested in playing the Warrior Week charity basketball game must pick up an application from Mr. Brandberg in the World Languages office. Applications are due Monday, March 5

Auditions for the 2012-2013 Tom Toms will be held on March 20th through March 23rd from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Auxiliary Gym. A mandatory parent/athlete meeting will be held on Monday, March 12th at 6:00 p.m. in the Forum. All interested girls should attend.

All speech and debate team members competing in this weekend's state qualifying tournament should plan to attend today's meeting after school at 2:30 in C15.

Athletics:

Congratulations to the Girls Basketball team for their impressive 2nd round win in the State tournament on Saturday over Mountain Vista 54-25. The win featured tremendous team defense, while the Lady Warriors were led in scoring by Carly Buechler and Amanda Martinez. Thanks to all of the students and faculty that came out and supported the team on Saturday.

Good Morning Warriors! Tonight, the Boys' Basketball Team (21-2) takes on Tigers of Grand Junction in second round action. Tip-off is at 7:00 pm in Sitting Eagle Gymnasium. Tomorrow, the 2nd seeded Girls' Basketball Team (18-5) will be playing Mountain Vista in the second round of the playoff. Tip-off is at 1:00 pm in Sitting Eagle Gymnasium. Please come out and support our Warriors.

Spring sports registration will continue today in the Cafeteria in the mornings from 7:00 to 7:15 a.m. and then again in the afternoons from 2:15 to 2:30 p.m. Required paperwork is available in the Athletic Office. Deadline for registration is today.

The Warrior Winter Guard has done it again! Congratulations Ladies on another 1st place this past weekend at the Woodland Park competition. This sure is becoming an amazing season so far for our team! Keep up the excellent work!

Notice the six sharp dressed wrestlers today? That's right, six wrestlers qualified for the CHSAA State wrestling Tournament starting tomorrow at the Pepsi Center. Announcements:

This announcement is for all 17 and 18 year old young men. If you have not registered with the Selective Service, this is the time to do it. Federal law requires all men living in the United States to register within a month of their 18th birthday. Registering keeps you eligible for college loans, job training, government jobs and driver’s license renewal in most states. You can get a Selective Service registration card at your local post office or register online at www.sss.gov. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Snyder in the Guidance Office. Be sure to register for Selective Service as soon as you can. Your future depends on it.

"You Matter" will not meet today after school, but will resume next Tuesday at 2:30 in room C-13. Here's a thought for this week: "Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after the other." (Walter Elliot)

Athletics:

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Basketball Team for a Big win last night over Grandview 52-45. The win avenges the Lady Warriors only league loss and moves them into a tie with Grandview at the top of the Centennial League with 2 games remaining. To say the win was a tremendous "TEAM" effort would be understated. The team was led in scoring by Amanda Martinez with a game high 18 points, Stacey Lukasiewicz with 15 and Carly Buechler with 13. Your Lady Warriors, 11 and 1 in league and 16 and 5 overall, are in action next here at AHS on Wednesday against Overland. Please plan to come out and support your Lady Warriors.

Attention all DECA members . . . Let's share the love! Come to Room E9 after school today for the DECA Valentine's Day party!! We will be making Valentine's cards for the Sunrise Nursing Home. Treats, candy and points towards your letter make this a community service event you do not want to miss! See you all there!

Attention all Arapahoe Students! Today is the final day for Valentine’s Day gift sales so make sure to stop by the table in the lunch room and get a treat for your friends and that special someone!

Congratulations to our Arapahoe Winter Guard for placing 1st place this past Saturday at Columbine HS. They scored a 71, which was 7 points higher than the next competitor! Way to go ladies!

Congratulations to Melissa Merkel for her outstanding performance and representation of Arapahoe High School this weekend during the 60th Colorado All-State Orchestra in Fort Collins!!!

Great job FBLA! We swept districts winning 20 out of 29 events that we competed in. State qualifiers please see Mrs. Swank in the Business office today.

Athletics:

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Basketball Team for their win on Friday night over Cherry Creek 53-32. The win was a tremendous "Team" effort on both offense and defense. Karlyn Johnson led all scorers with 14 points. The win also moves the team's league record to 10 and 1 and their season record to 15 and 5. Your Lady Warriors are back in action tonight at Grandview JV at 5:30 and Varsity at 7:30. Come out and support your Lady Warriors.

The Arapahoe Girls' Swimming and Diving Team placed 5th at the State High School Championship meet on Saturday in Fort Collins. Placing in the top 8 include the 200 Medley Relay team of Jordan Rowe, Bayley Krell, Bridget Louis and Morgan Dickie. The 200 Free Relay team placed 7th and the 400 free relay team was 8th. relay team members included Emily Mayo, Ella Moynihan, Jordan Rowe, Morgan Dickie and Rachel Getz.

Individual State top 8 finishers include Emily Mayo with a second and third place in the 200 and 500 Freestyle. Both of Emily's times are All-American Consideration performances and new school records. Freshman Ella Moynihan placed 3rd in the 100 and 200 free. (Ella's 200 also qualifies her for All-American Consideration.). Junior Savannah Rose was 8th in the 500 free. Consolation finalists were Bayley Krell and Jordan Rowe. Congratulations Warrior Swimmers. The girls swam their hearts out and should be proud of their successful season.

Goooooood morning, Arapahoe artists and writers! Many of you submitted your own writing and artwork for consideration for this year's Muse magazine in the fall. Our editorial boards have been diligently working through your poems, stories, and artwork, doing our best to decide which pieces will be published in Volume 10. We have finally made our decisions! It was a difficult task, as we had so many good pieces to choose from, and we'd like to thank EVERYONE who submitted their fine creative pieces. The writers and artists whose work will be in this year's edition are now posted in the Muse showcase cabinet, just outside of the Language Arts office. Again, thank you for all your submissions, and the magazine will be available for purchase by early April!

Sophomores and Juniors interested in Concurrent Enrollment or Career Technical Courses for next school year, see your counselor as soon as possible. Applications are due soon!

Senior Night for the Boy’s Varsity Basketball Team - tonight, the Arapahoe basketball team will be playing their last regular season home game against Cherry Creek. The senior basketball players will be recognized at 6:45 p.m. before the start of the Varsity game. Please encourage your parents and fellow students to be at the Main Gym by 6:30 p.m. tonight. The players are having an incredible season, and we want to take this opportunity to honor the young men who have worked so hard to contribute to the success of the athletic program at Arapahoe.

Athletics:

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Basketball team for their 52-38 win over Mullen last night here at Arapahoe. The Lady Warriors were paced in scoring by Karlyn Johnson and Stacey Lukasiewicz. The team played great team defense effort. the win sets the Your lady Warriors league record at 9 and 1 and their season mark at 14 and 5. Your Lady Warriors are back in action Friday night at Cherry Creek. Thanks to all of you that came out and supported the team last night and we look forward to seeing you Friday at Creek.

Come out and support the Special Olympic basketball team as they go up against Transition 2 tonight at 7:00 p.m. in Arapahoe High School's main gym.

Good luck to our 14 AHS girls swimming state qualifiers. They are headed up to Ft Collins early tomorrow to compete in the state high school swim meet on Friday and Saturday. This is the last meet of the season so swim fast and have fun! Go Warriors! For those of you who wanted to attend but couldn't get a ticket, this event will be streamed live over chssa.tv.

Congratulations to the Arapahoe Warrior Wrestling Team....Last week, the Warriors won the Centennial League Title, going 7-0 in league, and 18-0 overall. The JV and Freshman/Sophomore teams also won league, going 7-0 in dual meets, and winning the league tournament as well.

Congratulations to the Toms! Last weekend, they competed at the National Dance Team Championships, making finals in the Pom and Jazz Divisions. They were the highest scoring Pom Team from Colorado, placing 12th in Pom and 20th in Jazz. Thank you, Toms, for representing Arapahoe and Colorado in such a spectacular way!

The class counts as high school and college credit. The class is at ACC and all you have to pay for the class is $50.
