General Announcements

Thank you to all who participated in the AHS Toys for Tots toy drive.  We received 1,400 toys for the kids at Valverde Elementary and the Denver Indian Center,  well surpassing our 1,000 toy goal.  We wish you all the happiness you are bringing to others.  You are an incredible Arapahoe family.  The wrapping party is today after school in the cafeteria.  Please come help wrap.  We appreciate you!

Here’s an important reminder to brand new members of National Honor Society: Our induction ceremony is tonight at 7:00 pm.  Our mandatory dress rehearsal is after school at 2:30 in the theater, and it will last approximately an hour.  Then you will need to be back in the theater between 6:30 and 6:45 for this important event.

The AHS Speech and Debate team did especially well this past weekend at the Chatfield Chill Tournament hosted by Chatfield High School. The team earned the Coaches Award for placing first overall among the twenty schools competing. Eight members qualified for finals with three taking first place in their respective events. Placing first included Joe Redmond in Poetry Interpretation, Larson Ross in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, and Ethan Snow in Extemporaneous Speaking. 

Other members achieving well included:

·   Nash Jekot - 4th, Extemporaneous Speaking
·   Sarah Jenkins - 4th, Dramatic Interpretation
·   Angie Mock - 3rd, Lincoln-Douglas Debate

Good luck team at next week's Winter Wonder Tournament at Cherry Creek High School!

Congratulations to John Piccone for winning the Colorado State Thespian Conference Scholarship this past weekend.  Amid the 4,200 students who attended the conference from schools all over the state of Colorado; Arapahoe's own, John Piccone won a scholarship for his song and monologue performance. Way to go John!

Hey Key Clubbers; There will be no meeting today after school.  Come help wrap toys at the toys-for-tots wrapping party after school in the cafeteria. Thanks!
 
The next TSA meeting is this Thursday, December 12 @ 2:25 in Room E6.  Please be prepared to "Lock-in" at least one TSA event that you will be competing in at the State Conference...hopefully you have already started preparing for it!   We will be reviewing the Structural Engineering Competition and having a "Giant Jenga" tournament!  If you haven't paid your membership dues...please bring them to this meeting in order to participate in our Holiday Pizza Party next week!!   Please see Mr. McMullen for questions.

Athletics

Congratulations to the Toms for their two perfect and amazing performances at the State Championships in prelims and finals, finishing 4th in the state!  Also, the Toms thank all of the staff and students who attended the event.  Arapahoe had more student spectators than any other school, and your support really made a difference!  We could feel your Warrior Pride!

Congratulations to the varsity cheerleading team for making finals and placing 7th in the 5A state cheerleading competition on Friday! Also, a special congratulations goes out to Megan Sherer for being selected as a member of the All-state cheerleading team! Way to go ladies!!

Attention any girl interested in playing soccer next spring there will be a brief meeting on Wednesday, December 11 at 2:25 pm in Room N3.  Make sure you attend this very important meeting.  Spread the word.  Thank you.
