There will be a wrestling practice at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 11th, followed by a parent meeting immediately afterwards at the outdoor classroom (by the baseball field) at 6:00 p.m. Don’t forget to get your camp reservation form and check in to Coach Sisler by May 21st.

Anyone interested in running cross country next fall there will be a brief meeting following finals on Tuesday in room S14

Students – do you want to have a voice in actions and decisions made at Arapahoe? Before enjoying a relaxing summer, here’s an opportunity we hope you will consider. The Arapahoe School Accountability Committee is seeking 2 students to serve on this committee for next year. The committee meets once a month during the school year and is a valuable experience and opportunity for you to make a difference at Arapahoe. Please consider joining SAC! Applications are available on the Arapahoe Website or from Mrs. Minnotte in the Attendance Office. Application deadline is May 24th.

The girl’s soccer team advanced to the state semi-finals Wednesday night by defeating Chatfield by a score of 2-0. The ABK Warriors take on Mullen on Saturday, May 19th at Englewood High School with game time at 10:00 am. Everyone is invited to come on out and cheer on the girls - Go Warriors!

If you have not already done so, NOW is the time to get your summer camp registration in to Coach Sisler. Please get them in as soon as possible so we know who is going and make appropriate arrangements. As in years past, we will be car pooling to Gunnison. We will need some to drive there on June 15th and others to pick up on the 19th.

Hey guys…don’t let your 18th birthday go by without registering with Selective Service. There’s really nothing to it, and you’ve got to do it. After all, it’s the law and it only takes 5 minutes. Besides, you must register to be eligible for federal student loans, job training benefits, most federal employment, and enrollment in state colleges and universities. So, if you’re a guy about to turn 18, you can register at the Post Office or go online at www.sss.gov. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Snyder in the Guidance Office.

If you have any assignments or tests due for 4th, 5th or 6th period, it is still your responsibility to take care of those items. Then come out and enjoy a great day in the sun.

Independent Living is being offered second semester, 1st hour, on Tuesday and Thursday. This elective is an excellent class as you get closer to graduation as it prepares you to move out on your own. You will receive two practical arts credits for this class. In addition, don’t forget about our year long programs in interior design and fashion design. These project oriented classes are perfect for anyone interested in these two design career fields. Please be aware that you need to sign up for both semesters as they are year-long programs. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Rains in the Family and Consumer Sciences office.

Independent Living is being offered second semester, 1st hour, on Tuesday and Thursday. This elective is an excellent class as you get closer to graduation as it prepares you to move out on your own. You will receive two practical arts credits for this class. In addition, don’t forget about our year long programs in interior design and fashion design. These project oriented classes are perfect for anyone interested in these two design career fields. Please be aware that you need to sign up for both semesters as they are year-long programs. SENIORS…..Today is the deadline to return all Library books and pay fines.
You WILL NOT be able to pickup your cap & gown if you have any outstanding fines. Be sure that you check both the library and bookkeeping lists located around the building.

The Spring Choir and Orchestra Concert will be tonight at 7:00 in the theatre. Take a break from studying and enjoy these fine AHS musicians in their final concert of the year. And remember, a cupcake without frosting is only a muffin!

This announcement is for all 17 and 18 year old young men. If you have not registered with the Selective Service, this is the time to do it. Federal law requires all men living in the US to register within a month of their 18th birthday. Registering keeps you eligible for college loans, job training, government jobs and driver’s license renewal in most states. You can get a Selective Service registration card at your local post office or register online at www.sss.gov. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Snyder in the Guidance Office. Be sure to register for Selective Service as soon as you can. Your future depends on it.

The girl’s soccer team advanced to the state quarter-finals and will play Chatfield here at Arapahoe on Wednesday, May 16th at 4:00 pm.

Attention Lacrosse Fans! Saturday's state quarter-final game against Rangeview ended with an incredible 12-4 win for Arapahoe! The Warriors dominated the game with an incredibly tight defense and an unstoppable offence. Scoring for the Warriors were: Kevin Law; 4 Goals 1 Assist, Eric Law; 2 Goals 4 Assists, Ryan Parietti; 2 Goals 1 Assist. Scoring one goal each was Brandon Chandler, Matt Pullara, Chris Carry and Matt Lueders, and Drew Babb, Caleb Van Essen and Daniel Marr had one assist each. Way to go Warriors! Tomorrow the Warriors take on Powerhouse Kent in the state semi-finals. Fans, we need you there! Come to Englewood High School Stadium at 7:30 and bring your Warrior Pride and prepare to be loud!

Attention Girls Junior Varsity Soccer players. Uniform check in and voting will be completed today in room C – 7 at 2:30.

All boys interested in playing soccer next fall there will be a short meeting in room C-7 tomorrow at 2:30.

Congratulations to the JV girl’s golf team on their 1st place finish in the South Suburban Tournament last week. The JV team was led by low scores from Anny Lim, Hannah Fritz, Kerry Leary and Michelle Gutknecht. We'll see all girls golfers at the banquet on Wednesday night.

The Arapahoe Swim and Dive team placed 2nd at the Continental League Championships Saturday. The meet came down to the last relay. Individual event winners include Brian Krump in the 100 yard butterfly and Ian Francis in the 100 yard breast stroke. The Warriors will take take 12 swimmers and one diver to state Friday May 18th and Saturday May 19th. New state qualifiers include: David Wise, Andrew Gibbs, Aaron Kayen in the 500 freestyle. Aaron Kayen in the 100 backstroke, Ken Feehs in the 100 Breast stroke as well as Nick Thomas, Kieran McGuire and Sam Legrand in the 200 freestyle relay.

Congratulations to both the girls and boys track teams for their outstanding performances at this weekend Region 6 Track and Field Championships. The girls placed third and the boys finished in first. Both the boys and girls teams advanced to state in 7 different events. Special congratulations to regional champions Denise Mattoon in the discus and Jason Woodland in the 800m Run. Uniform check in for the seniors and juniors not competing in state will be after school today in the cage area. Uniform check in for the sophomores and freshman will be tomorrow after school. Any body not turning in their equipment will be issued a fine.

The girl’s varsity tennis team tied for 13th place at the state tennis tournament last week. At # 3 singles, Suzanne Chang had a big win in the first round and lost in the quarterfinals to one of the eventual finalists. Congratulations to all of the girls for a great season!

You must come to the guidance center today!!! The graduation survey is used to send your final transcripts, and to track your awards and scholarships for the Awards Convocation. Congratulations to all graduating seniors!!!

Congratulations to all members of The Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs for winning a 2007 Downbeat National Music Magazine Outstanding Jazz Performance Award! Arapahoe was the only Colorado school to have a jazz group recognized this year!! This is our combo’s 2nd consecutive and 3rd overall, Downbeat Award!!! Way to go jazz musicians!!!!

Congratulations to our 2007-2008 Arapahoe High School Warrior Cheers! Out of a very large group of talented athletes, 18 girls were chosen for the Junior Varsity team and 20 for the Varsity team. A list of our new Cheers is posted on the athletic bulletin board outside of the main office in the cafeteria. Way to go, Warriors!

The Continental "A" League Swimming and Diving Championship Meet begins today at 5:30 PM with the swimming preliminaries. Saturday morning, the diving prelims begin at 8:30 AM. The final’s for both swimming and diving begins at 3 PM. Please support your "shaved and "tapered Warriors.

Hey Arapahoe--come on out and support your Girls Varsity Lacrosse team. They go against Kent in the State Semi-finals tomorrow at Stutler Bowl. This is the big time and these girls are getting serious. First draw is set for 1:00. This is going to be a huge game. Let's have an amazing, loud turnout and show Kent what Warrior pride really is.

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Lacrosse Team!! Last night they defeated Mullen 16-10 and they are going to the state semi-finals!! Way to go Ladies!! Scoring for the Warriors were Channing Ahbe and Kristen Hosek with 4 goals each, Adison Rounds and Kate Spring with 3 goals each, and Chloe Adelmann and Katie Gerhard with 1 goal each. Helping the team with assists were Chloe Adelmann, Becky Baltakis, Stacey Birlson, Stephanie Curtis, and Adison Rounds. The team wants to thank the fans who showed up and enthusiastically supported them. The girls take on Kent on Saturday at Stutler Bowl. The starting time is still to be determined. Let's keep our momentum going Ladies--all the way to State!!

The girl’s soccer team will host the 2nd round of state playoffs on Friday, May 11th here at Arapahoe. They will take on Arvada West at 4:00 pm.

Girl’s lacrosse will play Kent Denver in the state semi-finals on Saturday, May 12th at 1:00 pm. The game will be played at the Stutler Bowl.

Boy’s lacrosse will also play Saturday, May 12th at Englewood High School. They will play Grandview at 4:00 pm.

Remember no student passes are accepted at any of these games – good luck to our Warriors!

Hey Habitat for Humanity members, anyone interested in leadership for next year should show up for a brief meeting after school today, in C18.

These project oriented classes are perfect for anyone interested in these two design career fields. Please be aware that you need to sign up for both semesters as they are year-long programs. Tonight is the Annual Spring Band Concert featuring Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble! The main concert starts at 7pm, following the Pre-Concert Ensembles, which begin at 6pm. Senior marimba player, Sean Case, will perform his 1st place concerto from last November's Concerto Competition, with the Wind Ensemble. A grand finale of all 3 bands performing next year's marching band field show, "Fiesta!" will take place at the end of the concert. Don't miss this free band concert tonight in the theater!

Scoring for Arapahoe was Eric Law; 1 Goal 1 Assist, Bill Mercer; 1 Goal 1 Assist, Devin Pullara; 1 Goal, Chris Carry; 1 Goal, Alex Horn; 1 Goal and Matt Lueders 1 Goal. Way to go Arapahoe! Keep up the good work! The quarter final game goes down on Saturday at Englewood High School .......get ready to cheer loudly!!

Hey Arapahoe--come out tonight and support your team! Tonight the Varsity Girls Lacrosse Team takes on Mullen in the State Quarterfinals. This is going to be a hard-fought game. The first draw is at 7:00 at LPS Stadium. Let's fill the stadium with Black and Gold and show Mullen who the Warriors are! Let's do this!!

Girls Golf Regionals was yesterday. Congrats to the Arapahoe Varsity team for their 4th place finish at regionals. Team players included Leslie McGetrick, Sarah Moore, Aubrey Dreessen and Hannah Gushurst. Leslie McGetrick placed 3rd with a low score of 81. Leslie and Sarah will be moving on to compete in the state girl’s golf tournament. Congrats ladies!

Tomorrow night is the Annual Spring Band Concert! We’ll feature Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble. There will be a closing selection with all 3 bands – The 2007 Marching Band Field Show, “La Fiesta!” will be performed in its entirety!! Sean Case, Senior Marimba Soloist, will be featured with Wind Ensemble. Sean was our 1st place winner in the 2006 First Annual Concerto Competition. On Weds the 9th, from 3-6p Tryout Clinic in the Aux Gym. We will learn basics on dance and flag. We will be teaching two audition routines, one on dance and one on flag. Please wear dance attire that is form fitting. On Thurs the 10th, from 3-4:30p Tryout Clinic in the Aux Gym. The staff will stay after to help individuals with their tryout routines. On Fri the 11th, from 5:30-9p will be tryouts in the Aux Gym.

The girls Junior Varsity soccer team defeated Mullin 1 – 0 Friday in the semi-final game of the Warrior Invitational Tournament. Saturday the girls met Cherry Creek in the finals. Your ABK girls defeated Creek 1 – 0 in overtime, earning them the tournament championship. The junior varsity ends their season as league champions, tournament champions with an undefeated record. Great season ladies.

The boys swimming team had a successful "B" "League meet on Saturday. “A" league qualifiers include: Kelsey Spurr in the 50 free and 100 breast. Bryan Nelson in the 50 free, Jeff Beckman and Bobby Luly in the 200 free, and Kent Schnake in the 200 IM. In addition, there will be a required team meeting this afternoon for all swimmers immediately after school.

The girl’s varsity tennis team took 2nd place at their regional tournament last Thursday and Friday. All of the Arapahoe players took 2nd place at the tournament and the following girls qualified for state: Sarah Ray; Suzanne Chang; Lauren Craig and Lauren Stemper; Katie Maxey and Jenny Morris. Congratulations girls!

Boy’s lacrosse will take on Cheyenne Mountain tonight in the State Prelims. Game time is 7:00 pm at LPSS.

Girl’s soccer will start their state playoffs on Wednesday, May 9th against Boulder High School. The game will be played here at Arapahoe at 4:00 pm.

Girl’s lacrosse will continue their journey in the state quarter-finals on Wednesday as they take on Mullen at LPSS. Game time is 7:00 pm. No student or league passes will be accepted at any playoff games. Admission prices are $4 for students and $6 for adults. Good luck to all our Warriors this week as they battle the state tournament journey!

On Saturday the girl’s varsity team placed 7th out of 14 teams and the boys finished in third. Congratulations to Mac Nelson for qualifying for the state meet in the Pole Vault with a height of 13' 6". There will be a meeting for all track athletes in room W-202 today at 2:30 sharp!

Baseball will begin their playoffs tomorrow, May 5th against Denver East at Columbine High School. Game time is set for 12:30 pm. There will be no charge for admission so come out and cheer on your Warriors!

The first state playoff game for Arapahoe boy’s lacrosse will take place on Monday, May 7th at LPSS at 7:00 pm. Admission prices will be $5 for adults and $4 for students. No student or league passes will be accepted.

The Girls JV soccer team defeated Fairview 3 – 0 yesterday in the first round of the ABK tournament. The girls will play Mullen in the semi-finals today at 4:30 here at AHS.

Congratulations to the Arapahoe Girls Varsity Tennis team. All three singles and all four doubles teams won two matches at regionals yesterday and will compete in the regional championship match today. Good luck to these Warriors!

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Lacrosse Team. Last night they defeated St. Mary's Academy 19 - 8 in the first round of playoffs. Scoring for the Warriors were Adison Rounds, 4 goals 2 assists, Stacey Birlson 3 goals 4 assists, Channing Ahbe 2 goals, 2 assists, Katie Gerhard 2 goals, 1 assist, Chloe Adelmann 2 goals, Kristen Hosek 2 goals, and Becky Baltakis, Megan O' Donnell, Kate Spring, and Alana Sullivan with 1 goal each. Great work, Ladies!!
The Frosh/Soph girl’s soccer team is having a fantastic season. The team coached by Dave Lambert finished their schedule undefeated with a record of 11-0. Their opponents managed to score only 3 goals against them. This week they are playing along with the JV team in the AHS sponsored Warrior Junior Varsity Invitational tournament. Come out after school at 4:30 today (Friday) or Saturday and cheer the girls on.

Athletics

The first round state playoff game for girl’s lacrosse will take place on Thursday, May 3rd at Littleton Public School Stadium. Arapahoe will take on St. Mary’s Academy with the game scheduled to start at 7:00 pm. Admission prices will be $5 for adults and $4 for students. No student or league passes will be accepted.

Hey Warriors--let the Playoffs begin!! Tomorrow night the Varsity Girls Lacrosse Team starts their playoff season. They take on St. Mary's Academy at LPS Stadium at 7:00. Let's have a huge turnout to support the girls as start their run for State. Let's go Warriors!!!

In a game that was called early because of lightning, the girls Junior Varsity soccer team defeated Chaparral 3 – 0. This win gave the girls at least a share if not sole possession of the league title. Congrats ladies.

Last night the JV Boys Lacrosse season ended with an outstanding record of 14 wins, one loss. The team beat Grandview Monday night with a score of 8 to 6, but loss to Regis in an unbelievable tough game. The Warriors gave their all as the score escalated to 12 to 9, losing the JV league playoffs in the final game. Way to go Warriors!

General Announcements

Sophomores and junior’s who are planning on taking part in the Post Secondary Enrollment Options program for next year, don’t forget to have all of your paperwork in to your counselor by today, May 1st.

Hey Warriors! Do you have old formal dresses hanging in your closet collecting dust? If so, bring them in. Student Council is having a Formal Dress Drive for disabled teens. Drop your dresses off near the women’s PE office or in the front office throughout the day May 9th, 10th and 11th. Clean out your closet for a good cause.

Seniors: Need money for college? There is still time to apply for scholarships. Hurry to the Post Grad Center or log on to Naviance to check for scholarships that are available. No time to waste!!!

Attention all NHS members, we will have a meeting this Wed. at 2:15 in the forum. We will be collecting your service logs! If you cannot attend please hand in your log to Mr. Sale, Mrs. Gaffney or an officer by May 2nd!

Prom and After prom tickets are on sale this week during both lunches. Prom tickets are $35. each and after prom tickets are $10. each. Purchase your tickets early, because the price will go up by $5 a ticket if purchased at the door.

VOTE TODAY for your student council class officers and executive officers for the 2007-2008 school year. Voting booths are located in the cafeteria all day today. Show your student I.D. to vote. Your vote counts so please take time to VOTE today.

Congratulations to the artists whose artwork was selected to hang at Southglenn Library for the next year. The list of honorees is posted down in the Art Department. We commend these outstanding artists!

Do you want to sport a Remember t-shirt and help the Remember club? Well lucky you, because this Thursday and Friday, May 3rd and 4th, Remember t-shirts will be sold during both lunches in the cafeteria for $10.

Attention Lacrosse fans! The Varsity 1 boys lacrosse team went down to East High School yesterday and came home with a 9-6 victory! Scoring for the Warriors were: Matt Pullara; 4 Goals 1 Assist, Kevin law; 2 Goals 2 Assists, Eric Law; 2 Goals 1 Assist, Daniel Marr; 1 Goal 1 Assist, and Ryan Parietti with one Assist. Way to go Warriors! Keep up the good work! The V1 boys take on Mullen next. The game is on Wednesday at 7:00. All you awesome lacrosse fans, come on out to Mullen and cheer the LAX Warriors on! State playoffs are just around the corner so let's get psyched!! Let's show our Warrior pride!

The Level III Boys Lacrosse team ended their season with two big wins! Friday they beat Cherry Creek 5-4, and Monday they beat Grandview 8-7. They ended their season with a 9-2 record. Congratulations Level III Boys Lacrosse Team!!
