General Announcements

Seniors: Plan to pick up your tickets for Graduation, Wednesday, May 9, in the cafeteria during both lunches.

Hey Warriors! Do you have old formal dresses hanging in your closet collecting dust? If so, bring them in. Student Council is having a Formal Dress Drive for disabled teens. Drop your dresses off near the women’s PE office or in the front office throughout the day May 9th, 10th and 11th. Clean out your closet for a good cause.

2007-08 Color Guard Tryout and Clinic Information:
Today May 7th, at 7p Parent/Student meeting for anyone interested in trying out for the 2007/2008 Arapahoe Color Guard. Meet in the Math Room next to the Band Room. On Weds the 9th, from 3-6p Tryout Clinic in the Aux Gym. We will learn basics on dance and flag. We will be teaching two audition routines, one on dance and one on flag. Please wear dance attire that is form fitting. On Thurs the 10th, from 3-4:30p Tryout Clinic in the Aux Gym. The staff will stay after to help individuals with their tryout routines. On Fri the 11th, from 5:30-9p will be tryouts in the Aux Gym.

Hey, Seniors! Big news! The JEM scholarship deadline has been extended to next Wednesday, May 9. You still have time to apply! Applications are in the Post Grad Center in the scholarship file.

SENIORS…..Mark your calendar, this Thursday, May 10th is your deadline to return all Library materials. Thursday, May 16th is the deadline to pay all fines. Your cap & gown will be held if you have any outstanding fines. Be sure that you check both the library and bookkeeping lists located around the building.

Congratulations to our talented mathematicians!! Arapahoe ranks third in the state of Colorado for the Colorado Math League Competition. Students who earned a perfect score on the last CML are Corey McClymonds, Rob Newell, Tom Roberts and Zack Rubenstein.

Congratulations to the following musicians and ensembles who achieved superior ratings at Saturday's Solo and Ensemble Music Festival: Sean Egan, Matt Cullen, Stephanie James, Bassoon Quartet, Clarinet Sextet, Clarinet Choir, Melanie Brown, Billy Norris, Paris Spinelli, Spencer Jonscher, Vikky DeLaTorre, Brass Ensemble, Alex James, Wes Leffingwell, Sean Case, Mike Wilson, Mike Wickwar, Marielle Hendry, Kevin Matthews, Symphonic Band Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble Percussion Ensemble, and Snare Drum Duo.

Hey Habitat for Humanity members, anyone interested in leadership for next year should show up for a brief meeting after school on Wednesday, May 9th in C18.

Athletics

Attention Boy’s golfers: There will be a meeting on Wednesday, May 9th at 2:25 in room S8 for all boys interested in trying out for the golf team in August. If you cannot attend this brief but important meeting, leave a message in Coach Anderson’s mailbox or in the athletic office.

The girls Junior Varsity soccer team defeated Mullin 1 – 0 Friday in the semi-final game of the Warrior Invitational Tournament. Saturday the girls met Cherry Creek in the finals. Your ABK girls defeated Creek 1 – 0 in overtime, earning them the tournament championship. The junior varsity ends their season as league champions, tournament champions with an undefeated record. Great season ladies.

The boys swimming team had a successful "B" "League meet on Saturday. “A" league qualifiers include: Kelsey Spurr in the 50 free and 100 breast. Bryan Nelson in the 50 free, Jeff Beckman and Bobby Luly in the 200 free, and Kent Schnake in the 200 IM. In addition, there will be a required team meeting this afternoon for all swimmers immediately after school.

The girl’s varsity tennis team took 2nd place at their regional tournament last Thursday and Friday. All of the Arapahoe players took 2nd place at the tournament and the following girls qualified for state: Sarah Ray; Suzanne Chang; Lauren Craig and Lauren Stemper; Katie Maxey and Jenny Morris. Congratulations girls!

Boy’s lacrosse will take on Cheyenne Mountain tonight in the State Prelims. Game time is 7:00 pm at LPSS.

Girl’s soccer will start their state playoffs on Wednesday, May 9th against Boulder High School. The game will be played here at Arapahoe at 4:00 pm.

Girl’s lacrosse will continue their journey in the state quarter-finals on Wednesday as they take on Mullen at LPSS. Game time is 7:00 pm. No student or league passes will be accepted at any playoff games. Admission prices are $4 for students and $6 for adults. Good luck to all our Warriors this week as they battle the state tournament journey!

Attention all Lady Lacrosse Warriors! There will be an optional shooting practice today at 3pm at Newton Middle School for all girls who are interested.

Attention all softball players. Today’s practice has been cancelled. We will resume practice on Wednesday.

Congratulations to your Arapahoe Warriors Track and Field Teams this past weekend for their outstanding performances. The JV league meet was held on Friday, and both the boys and girls teams won in a convincing fashion out-distancing the other 14 teams that they were competing against. On Saturday the girl’s varsity team placed 7th out of 14 teams and the boys finished in third. Congratulations to Mac Nelson for qualifying for the state meet in the Pole Vault with a height of 13' 6". There will be a meeting for all track athletes in room W-202 today at 2:30 sharp!
