General Announcements

Today we will be celebrating Veteran’s Day.  We are honored to have guest speakers in the Forum every hour who will share their stories of serving our country in the Armed Forces.  Their experiences vary, but they share a common thread of bravery and commitment to freedom and the people of the United States.  On this day of remembrance, we would also like to honor the nurses, doctors and medics who devoted themselves to saving the lives of wounded soldiers, and making the deaths of others less painful.  You are welcome to come to the Forum during any of your unscheduled hours today.

YOU BETTER WATCH OUT, YOU BETTER NOT CRY, YOU BETTER NOT POUT, I’M TELLING YOU WHY…SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN.  Yes…Santa is coming to bring a new toy for each boy and girl at Colfax Elementary and the Denver Indian Health and Family Services Center.  Today is the kickoff for the AHS Toys for Tots.  Help us make a child’s dream come true.  Join us by bringing a NEW toy to the Attendance Office.  The day after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year.  Think about shopping for a boy or girl at Colfax Elementary.  Our goal is 1,000 NEW toys.  Shop the sales for the best buys.  Bring your toys to the Attendance Office after the Thanksgiving break.   We know Arapahoe can make it happen!  Let’s make this a special holiday for the kids!

If you have recently applied for membership in National Honor Society, you should have already received a letter indicating whether or not you are accepted for membership in NHS.  If you are accepted for membership, please take the required actions to RSVP for the induction ceremony as soon as possible.  If you haven't received a letter by this Wednesday, please come talk to Mr. Smith in the science office or Mrs. Leclaire in the language arts office, to clear up any confusion.  Thanks.

Athletics

Beginning Monday, November 12, 2012, the north fields on the Araphaoe High School campus will be closed due to an irrigation project.  These fields will be closed through February 18, 2013.  During this time, students who walk to and from the apartments located to the north of AHS, will be required to use the sidewalks on University and Franklin for accessing the school. The school district will be putting temporary fencing around the project on campus.  For safety reasons, please adhere to the posted signs.

Baseball booster club meeting is on Tuesday, November 13th at 7 p.m. in the Forum. There will be drawings and awards for fundraising efforts plus plenty of good information about baseball!  Don't miss out! Spread the word to anyone interested in playing baseball this spring. It's never too early to register and join in the fun!
