General Announcements

The Speech and Debate team will hold this week's meeting and practice on Thursday in C15 at 2:30. All members should plan to attend, even those not competing this weekend, as there will important information shared at the meeting that impacts all team members.

Congratulations to this year's Prom Royalty:  Juniors:  Nash Jekot, Zachary Waanders, Mark Carlson, Colton Gully, Maria Haas, Grace Marlowe, Lyndsi Ansay, and Nicole Broda.  Seniors:  Drew Engberson, Max Hirsch, Kyle Estrada, Austin Riley, Erin Coughlin, Karly Means, Laura Dus, and Kara Nazminia.  Voting will be April 8th -12th in your Social Studies class.  If you do not have a social studies class, or are absent the day your class votes, please see Mrs. Kruck or Mrs. Crookham in the math office to vote.

The Muse is published and ready for purchase!  We had a great Showcase night last week!  If you have work in the Muse and couldn't make it to the Showcase, stop by and see Mr. Miles, and you can purchase your Muse for half-price, at $5.  Regular price is $10 for anyone else interested in buying the 2013 Volume 11 edition of the Muse.

Attention all current and incoming LINK Crew leaders:  We're rescheduling our meeting to TODAY, after school in the FORUM.  If you cannot attend, please see one of the sponsors between now and Friday.

Attention all FBLA Students.  There will be a meeting today after school in Room E9.  Please come to the meeting in order to view your lettering status, prepare for the State FBLA Competition, and receive information about becoming an FBLA officer next year.

A reminder to all seniors who are currently in or have taken a personal finance class.  The deadline to submit your application for the $1,000 scholarship is due next Monday April 15th.  For more information, please see Ms. Lewallen, Mr. Sawyer or Mrs. Swank.

John: Come see Brigadoon! Tickets are on sale during both lunches or you can get them at the door for $8 for students and $10 for adults. Opening night Thursday April 18th and it runs until Saturday April 20th. The show starts at 7 p.m., see you there.

Auditions for the 2013-2014 AHS choirs will be held April 22nd - 26th. Please see Ms. Parmenter in the Choir Room to sign up for an audition time and receive information.

AP Students, this is a reminder that you MUST attend a pre-registration meeting this week.  The last chance to attend one of these meetings will be tomorrow, April 11th during all periods except 4th. Please attend this meeting during one of your off hours.  Mrs. Talen will be presenting very important information regarding the tests.  See you there!

Faculty, staff and students:  Friday, April 12, is College Friday, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of higher education.  Wear your favorite college apparel to school.   Free fries at participating Carl’s Jr. locations if you are wearing college gear.  Free ice cream  at participating Cold Stone Creamery locations from 3-7 p.m.

Seniors … Take advantage of the last opportunity to represent your class – audition for keynote speaker for graduation!  One time auditions will be held after school on Tuesday, April 16.  Please sign up for your audition at Mrs. Debow’s window in the Guidance Office.  If you have any questions, please see Mr. Kleeman in Language Arts.

Hey Warriors!  Got talent?  Do you have an amazing talent that you want to share with the school?  The Prom Talent Show is coming up on April 24th, and we are looking for fun and exciting acts to star in the show!  Tryouts that were supposed to be held yesterday will be at the same time today.  Tryouts scheduled for 5:00 to 7:30 will still take place in Rooms N2 and N3.

Are you an average human being? Do you like eating? Do you have any ideas to combat the growing obesity problem? If so, come show your expertise and solutions in the LPS Healthy School Snack Contest! Prizes will be awarded to the top contestants on April 18th. If interested, contact Mrs. Jennifer Lewis in Room E2 or refer to the posters on the bulletin boards or the slide show in the cafeteria. 

Lost and Found:  Please check the table in the cafeteria for clothing items and the Attendance Office for smaller items.  Tomorrow, these items will be bagged up and donated.

Attention Twain Elementary graduates!  Our beloved Mr. Tom is retiring this year after 17 years and we would love to see alumni attend his retirement party.  It will be held at Twain on May 8th from 4-6pm.  It is a surprise for him.  Come and support a wonderful man! He would love to see you.

Athletics

The Arapahoe freshman baseball team is on a roll!  Monday night they defeated Creek 13-5.  They took the lead in the first inning and never looked back.  Zack Gilman had a masterful control of the game from behind home plate.  Congratulations to the team on the victory!  The 4 and 1 Freshman team are scheduled to take on Smokey Hill today at 4:00.  Be there to take in the action!

Congratulations to the boys Varsity lacrosse team with another win over East High School on Monday night.

Congratulations to the JV Black boys lacrosse team for fighting hard to win against Grandview Monday afternoon.  Even though it was a cold game they still went out and played their hardest! Good job Warriors!
