General Announcements

The AHS Speech and Debate Team began the varsity season strong at the Cherry Creek Classic Tournament this past Saturday with Ethan Snow earning fourth place in Extemporaneous Speaking, Ben Chisholm earning sixth place in the same event, while Josie Lee also took sixth place in Dramatic Interpretation. Additionally, the team earned two superior ribbons along with six excellent ribbons.  Members receiving superior ratings included:
·        Nash Jekot in Extemporaneous Speaking
·        Angie Mock in Lincoln Douglas Debate
Earning excellent ratings were:
·   Addie Finch in Original Oratory
·   Sanat Mehta in Lincoln Douglas Debate
·   Joe Redmond and Sara Wilky in Poetry Interpretation
·   The team of Emily Harden and Emily Webb as well as the team of Brent Cary and Evan Pierpont in Public Forum Debate 
The team hopes to continue its success at the Smoky Hill Stampede Tournament in two weeks.

Reminder: Alive @ 25 class today at 3:00 p.m. in Room W101 today. If you signed up, please show up. If you still want to take the class but didn't sign up on-line show up at 3 p.m. Any questions ask Deputy Englert.

The next meeting of the TSA club will be this Thursday, November 7 at 2:25 in Room E6.   If the CO2 Dragster Competition is in your future, you don't want to miss this meeting!   See Mr. McMullen for questions.

Calling all art makers and creators! The Muse literary and arts magazine needs your art, poetry, and prose. If you don't want to miss being a part of Arapahoe's only student arts publication, there's no time to lose! To submit your work, please visit the Muse page under the activities tab on the school website. And remember, there is a meeting this Wednesday.

Attention all Juniors and Seniors.  Do you have a 3.0 grade point average?  Have you taken three business classes?  If so, pick up an application for Arapahoe's newest organization, The National Business Honor Society!  As a nationally recognized business scholar, you will have access to scholarships, participate in service learning and have a new addition to your college resume!  Stop by the Business Department for more details.  

CafĂ© specials:  Fazoli’s pasta plates and pizza.  Lunch today:  BBQ chicken drumstick, hamburger, salads, and cold sandwiches.  

Athletics

On Saturday, the Varsity volleyball team hosted Regionals against Brighton and Boulder. They beat both teams in three games, and earned a bid to the state tournament this weekend at the Coliseum. This is only the second time in school history that volleyball has gone to State.  Congratulations! The girls will play on Friday and Saturday.  More game information to come.

Congratulations to the Varsity cheer team for an outstanding performance at UCA regionals in Pueblo on Saturday! They placed second and revived a bid to nationals! Great job ladies!

Attention all wrestlers...Practice will begin on November 12th. Make sure you have your pink card. Practice begins at 2:37 p.m.

"Pink Cards" for Winter Sports will be distributed in the Cafeteria on Wednesday from 2:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.  Online registration must be completed and a current physical must be on file in the Athletic Office before student-athletes can receive their "Pink Card".   Registration is completed online at www.ahswarriors.org.

Dribble, dribble, shoot, score! Come be a part of the Arapahoe Girls basketball program this year! Last year, our program made it to the final four in the state and we need new players to be a part of our historic run. We still have spots to fill on our four teams! It does not matter your skill level! Even if you haven't attended yet you can still come to our mini-camp to get you ready for tryouts. It is a great week to come get some shots up and play with friends! Come see Ms. Hancock in the Language Arts office if you'd like more information, or you can check out the Lady Hoops website on the Arapahoe Home page. See you on the court!

Anyone who would like to participate with the Unified Basketball team or Unified Cheer team, please come to an introduction meeting tomorrow in Room S6 starting at 2:30. If you are not able to make it please see Ms. Hernley in Room S6 on Wednesday, November 6. Bring your friends and prove that a Warrior always takes care of one another.

The AHS Swim Waiver will be given Thursday, November 14th and Friday, November 15th at 6:00 a.m. You must only attend one test.  Space is limited to the first 20 students. You must pre-register with Mrs. Leyden in the women's PE office or email her at: jleyden@lps.k12.co.us.  Test criteria is on the AHS home webpage.
