General Announcements

Congratulations to the Warrior Winter Guard for placing 1st at both Preliminaries and Finals at the Winter Guard International Denver Regional this past Saturday! The Guard scored 76.5 points out of 100! Way to go ladies! 

The Arapahoe High School Speech and Debate Team competed this past weekend in the Regional State Qualifying Tournament.  Twenty-two members competed with five earning spots to the State Tournament to be held in two weeks at Valor Christian High School. Students making it to State include:
·   Larson Ross – Lincoln Douglas Debate
·   Nash Jekot – National Extemporaneous Speaking
·   Ethan Snow – International Extemporaneous Speaking
·   The team of Charlie Dean and Keaton Scheffler – Public Forum Debate
Alternates to State are Josie Lee in Dramatic Interpretation, Maddison North in Poetry Interpretation, and the team of Jack Harvey and Sanjay Patil in Duo Interpretation.  Congratulations to all competitors for their hard work and effort!

Hey Warriors!  Warrior Week is coming up beginning on March 17th!  We have chosen Adam’s camp again as our charity.  Adam’s Camp is an organization that hosts programs for children with special needs and their families.  Such programs include therapy activities to help these children reach developmental milestones as well as recreational adventure camps and sleep-aways for mature youth and young adults.  Be sure to stay tuned for all the fun events that week! The first event, the FroYo social, is this Wednesday, March 12th at Yogurtland from 2:30 to 4:30! Be sure to look out for the flyer that guarantees 25% of your purchase goes to Warrior Week and Adam’s Camp.

TCAP Testing will be March 11, 12, and 13th for 9th and 10th graders.  Buses will run on a normal schedule.  11th and 12th graders will have a late start and should arrive at school no earlier than 11:15 a.m.  Buses will run a late pick up schedule for these students four hours later.  Class schedules are posted around the building.

FBLA is hosting Arapahoe's first Blacklight Volleyball Tournament on April 2nd. Sign up packets are available to FBLA members on March 12th and open to all other interested students March 13th. Teams will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Packets can be picked up at the next club FBLA meeting or in the business office.

Attention all DECA members . . . we are taking our Yearbook club photo after school on Thursday, March 13 on the stairs by E9.  Please make sure to wear your DECA shirt for this photo.  The photo will be taken at 2:20 after school on the stairs outside E9. 

Attention Warriors - We know that finding quiet study space can be a challenge at times, so we would like to let you know that on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from now until the end of the semester, you will have access to the following quiet study spaces during periods 3 through 6:  S12 will be open during 3rd period, N6 will be open during fourth period, C23 will be open during 5th period, and E9 will be open during 6th period.  Remember: the fourth period room, N6, will operate on a 2nd lunch schedule. If you need reminders about the room numbers, see the flyers posted around the school.


Athletics

In Arapahoe's first Centennial League Golf Tournament of the year, the Warriors finished second to Cherry Creek 165-166.  Grandview was third with a 175.  Here are the scores for the Varsity players:

Hannah Wood 38 (2nd place overall), Nikki Backman 43, Piper Koy 41 (5th place overall), and Hannah Eddy 44.

Congratulations to the Varsity boys lacrosse team as they defeated Heritage in their season opener 11-6. Come out and support the boys on Wednesday as they play Smokey Hill at 8:00 at Legacy Stadium. Let's go Warriors.

Auditions for the 2014-2015 Tom Toms will be held on March 18th through March 21st from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the Auxiliary Gym.  A mandatory parent/athlete meeting will be held on March 10th at 6:00 p.m. in the Forum.  All interested girls should attend.
