 General Announcements

Juniors (and interested Sophomores) registration for PSAT is now open! Come to the Guidance Department and sign up with Mrs. Ives. Cost for PSAT is $18.  Registration is from now until Oct. 13th.   PSAT test will be happening Wednesday morning, Oct. 19th.  We are encouraging every junior to take this test.  The PSAT is the only exam to qualify a student for National Merit Scholar Status, when taken during junior year.

Attention seniors:  The Daniels Fund Scholarship application is now open.  Are you a senior who demonstrates strength of character, leadership potential, community service, academic promise, and a well-rounded personality?  The Daniels Scholarship is a “last dollar” scholarship that will pay toward the remaining costs of a scholar’s education after all other grants and scholarships are applied. The scholarship is only awarded to students from our four-state area There is a need-based component to qualify. Stop by the Guidance office and see Mrs. Kostra for more information.  

Remember Monday, October 10th is Financial Aid Night. This is an important informative evening for senior students and parents.  Underclassmen and parents are welcome to get a preview of the financial aid process as well.   Come to the theater from 6-7 to learn about the process of filing the FAFSA and the CSS profile.

Hey Warriors! Did you know you can STILL be a part of Key Club! All you have to do is attend our meetings every Monday after school, and make sure to notify one of the officers that you would like to join.

Attention all Seniors!  Herff Jones will be here today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  If you have not already ordered your cap and gown, please stop by the cafeteria. Also, Herff Jones will be taking orders for Graduation announcements and class rings. Deposits will be required for all orders. 

Free Alive @ 25 class Monday October 10th at 2:30pm in room W1874. If you are voluntarily taking the class the Sheriff's Office pays for your $79 fee.  If you are 15 1/2 you can take your drivers permit test after taking the class and a lot insurance companies give you a discount. This is a 4 1/2 hour class. Sign up on-line. Any questions ask Deputy Englert

The Freshmen Tailgate is coming up on tomorrow, October 8th at 9:00 am. Meet your link leaders on the Arapahoe track/football, and support your freshmen football team as they play Overland! Free Lamar’s doughnuts, Einstein’s Bagels, and Starbuck’s coffee will be provided.

ATTENTION ALL JUNIORS AND SENIORS: The 2017 trip to Washington D.C. is here again!  This trip is an amazing opportunity to experience Washington D.C. and Capitol Hill first hand.  This year will be especially exciting and relevant because we will have a new President and many changes in Congress.
There will be a parent/guardian meeting for those interested in this trip on Wednesday, October 12th at 6 PM in the Room W-2882.  Please feel free to join your parent or guardian, and if you are unable to attend the meeting, please see Mr. Hawthorne or Mrs. Winn in the Social Studies department.

It’s that time of year for eligible juniors and seniors to start applying for membership in National Honor Society!  If you are a junior with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, or a senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, then you are eligible to apply for membership.  Eligible students should have received a letter inviting them to apply and also explaining the application process.  If your GPA makes you eligible for NHS, but you haven't received a letter at home, please contact Mr. Smith or Ms. McGeorge in the science office, or Ms. Leclaire in language arts.  This letter also tells about important informational meetings going on next week.  If you are applying for membership in NHS, you must attend one of these meetings to learn about the club and the application process.  Remember that these meetings are only for eligible juniors and seniors, so if you are unsure whether you are eligible, please contact Mr. Smith, Ms. McGeorge, or Ms. Leclaire.

Picture re-take day will be this Tuesday, October 11 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the main entrance hallway. If you haven't had your picture taken for the yearbook, now is the time to do it. If you need re-takes please return your photo packet to the photographer.

Come to Dairy Queen in Southglenn on Wednesday October 12th between 5 and 8pm to help support the Choirs and Orchestra. Every sale helps us out, so bring the family, bring your friends, bring your dog and your sweet tooth to DQ on Wednesday.

Athletics

Last night, your Boys’ Varsity Soccer team lost a tough overtime battle with Cherry Creek by a score of 2-1; Noah Anthony scored the Warrior goal. The Arapahoe Junior Varsity beat Cherry Creek by a score of 1-0. Thanks for supporting your Warriors!


Congratulations to the Volleyball program on their clean sweep over the Overland Trailblazers! All four levels won in straight sets...
Our next match is our Think Pink match at Eaglecrest on Monday night! GO WARRIORS!

The boys’ tennis team took second place at the regional tournament.  The team qualified 9 players for the state tournament, which will be played next Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Congrats to the boys tennis team!
