Hey Arapahoe!  Having those post-holiday blues?  Well, snap out of them by attending the 2006 Winter Dance!!  It will be held Saturday, January 21st from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. in the AHS Cafeteria.  This year’s theme is “A Night at the Grammys.”  Tickets will go on sale beginning next Tuesday during each lunch in the cafeteria.  You will want to buy your tickets in advance for only $10/person because the price will increase that night at the door to $15/person.  And, this is that special dance of the year where the ladies get to ask the gentlemen!  Don’t forget . . . The 2006 Winter Dance “A Night at the Grammys” coming your way January 21st.

Warriors!  Here is some important information you need to know if you plan to attend the Winter Dance next Saturday, January 21st.  First, this dance is semi-formal in attire.  Therefore, you will not be permitted in the door wearing jeans, shorts, or other attire that is inconsistent with the AHS dress code.  Also, only sophomores, juniors and seniors that are current Arapahoe students will be permitted to bring outside guests.  Forms for these guests are due no later than, Thursday, January 19th, at 3:00 p.m. and are available in the Guidance Center from Mrs. Sisler.  No middle school students will be permitted to attend.  We greatly appreciate your support on these issues!

Late breaking news from the Post Grad Center! Eight junior students are the lucky winners of a Chipotle or a Starbucks gift certificate!  Their names were entered in a drawing when they attended their planning appointment first semester.  The lucky winners are: Sara Healy, Matthew Everist, Morgan Johnson, Rick Deming, Kate Nixon, Emily Mitchell, Samantha Ginsburg and Shawn Belland. Congratulations!  Winners, please claim your certificate in the Post Grad Center by Monday, 1/23.

PLAN test results are in!  If you took the PLAN test, you can pick up your results in the Guidance Office.

SENIORS: No-brainer Scholarship: Seventy $1,000 scholarships will be randomly drawn from all applicants to the College Invest 2006 Scholarship Program. Another fifty-five $6,000 scholarships will be awarded to students with financial need. Apply online by April 5th. Visit the Post Grad Center for details.  Hurry over to the Post Grad Center to see what new scholarships you may qualify for!

Seniors planning to attend CU-Boulder in the Fall:  Now is the time to apply for scholarships!  There is a full ride opportunity for freshmen entering the College of Arts and Sciences.  Check in the Post Grad Center to see if you qualify for this outstanding opportunity!

Congratulations to our talented mathematicians! Matt Bigelow, Sean Case, and Corey McClymonds earned a perfect score of '6' on Tuesdays Colorado Math Leauge Competition. Arapahoe is ranked third in the state of Colorado. Students who earned a score of '5' on Tuesday's competition include: Clarie Bassett, Amy Bickel, Tyler Bowman, Sean Egan, David Ellis, Matt Evans, Kenneth Feehs, Zach Foster, Sarah Geist, David Lyons, Kaia Nutting, Becca Schwab, Alex Schiff, and Spencer Zepelin.

Did you check out a book before the winter break? If so, it's due back in the library this week. Please check your lockers and backpacks for books that need to be returned ASAP.

Come to the Spanish Club meeting Wednesday, January 18 in C21.   We will have snacks and drinks and música.  No Spanish is required so bring your friends!

Students your First Semester Report Cards will be given out today during your 3rd hour class.  If you do not have a 3rd hour class, please go to Counseling and see Mrs. Oeinck to pick up your Report Cards.

Athletics

Congratulations to the girls swimming and diving team for their victory over Mountain Vista last night. The final score was 99 to 87. Congratulations to the following state qualifiers: Carliann Brashier in the 200 Free, Carolyn Pasque in the 100 Free and Kirsten Hesla in the 500 free. First place finishers include: Dawn Adams and Becca Getz. Divers Michelle Ripple, Jamie Wilson and Brittany Harms placed first, second, and third. JV individual event winners were: Jordan Kizla, Haley McCoy, Ranae Reeve, Samantha Shoemaker and Emily Anderson.   Finally, the Heritage Invite meet on Saturday has been postponed one week.
