Athletics

There will be a mandatory meeting on Friday February 10 at 2:30 in room W103, for all girls who want to try out for the girl's varsity tennis team.  To try out for the varsity team, you must have played on varsity last year, or were one of the top JV players last year, or have other tournament experience.  If you are not sure if you qualify, please see Coach Brayton before Friday.  If you are currently playing a winter sport, you must see Coach Brayton to let him know of your intentions.

The Arapahoe Special Olympics basketball played in another tight battle last night.  They suffered a tough loss at home versus the South Suburban Stars, losing by a narrow margin of 35-38. The Warriors controlled the tempo of the game for the first three quarters, hitting all kinds of shots, dominating on defense, and winning the battle of the boards.  In the fourth quarter their opponents took a lead the Warriors could not overcome.  Defensively the Warriors have been improving all season, and this match-up they showcased their vastly improved rebounding skills.  Justin Simmons scored a season and career-high in points.  Mercedes Acosta starred again for the Nuggets, oops, the Warriors, by scoring, stealing the ball and leading the fast paced offense.  A huge thanks again to the partner players and the raucous home crowd supporting the team.  Our next game is at rival Heritage next Wed. 2/15/06 at 7pm.
