General Announcements

Prom pictures can be picked up on today, from 10:30-12:30 in the cafeteria. If you miss this pick up time, you may pick them up at the front desk.

Students – do you want to have a voice in actions and decisions made at Arapahoe? Before enjoying a relaxing summer, here’s an opportunity we hope you will consider. The Arapahoe School Accountability Committee is seeking 3 students to serve on this committee for next year. The committee meets once a month during the school year and is a valuable experience and opportunity for you to make a difference at Arapahoe. Please consider joining SAC! Applications are available from Mrs. Minnotte in the Attendance Office. Application deadline is May 25th.

Attention students, come to yearbook distribution today right after school. Don’t forget, you’ll need a photo I.D. Also, protective covers and autograph pages will be sold. The lines may look long, but they move fast and you will not want to wait until Tuesday to get your copy! Can't come? They will be available from 6-6:45 a.m. in room E-8 Tuesday morning.

Seniors: We would like to hear from you – as a soon to be AHS Grad - your 5 best tips for making it through the college application process while it is still fresh on your mind. Leave your responses in the Main Office in a marked basket or in the Post Grad Center. Future AHS grads will thank you, so will Mrs. Lewallen.

Seniors the time is here! This is a reminder to check both the library & bookkeeping lists around the building, to make sure that you don’t have a fine or overdue book. If you have a fine, come on down to the library or bookkeeping and get it paid. The deadline to resolve your fines is this Thursday, May 18th. You registration card will be held if you have any outstanding fines. Do not let a fine keep you from picking up your cap and gown!

FBLA members- come for an end of the year party Wednesday May 17. Bring a favorite ice cream topping and join us. Announcements of officers will be made at the meeting. Meeting will be in S1 after school.

If you are unscheduled 6th hour on Tuesday, please come out and help plant in the garden along Dry Creek Road. It is not required but help would be appreciated! The planting will most likely continue after school.

This Sunday, May 21st, our Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs will be performing with Canadian professional trumpeter, Bria Skonberg, at the Denver Jazz Club’s May Youth Jam Session! The UCD Claimjumpers will also be performing. The sets run from 2 until 5pm at the Westminster Elks Lodge. Tickets are just $7.00, and all proceeds will benefit The Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs. Come find out why this combo won a 2006 National Downbeat Magazine Outstanding Jazz Performance Award!! This will be the final performance of the year for the 2005-06 Dry Creek Dixie Dawgs. Please see any Dixie musician, or stop by the band office, to buy advance purchase tickets.

Are you interested in exploring the Chinese language? An intensive Chinese course taught through a simulated adventure for interested Arapahoe students will be held at Euclid Middle School the week of July 29 through August 5. The course will be taught by Dr. Robert Blair, Brigham Young University professor of linguistics. Additional information is available from the main office.

Mrs. Pepe will have Taylor Atkinson’s yearbook in Room S6 Tuesday through Friday of this week. If you would like to sign it, please stop by anytime.

Athletics

Last meeting of the year Student Council! STUCO members and Officers, we have our last meeting of the year tomorrow. See you at 6:45 am.

Congratulations to the boy’s Track and Field team for their 3rd place finish at this past weekends regional championships. Moving on to compete in this weekends state championships at Jeffco Stadium are Adam Glenn, Nick Bailey, Travis Smith, Ben Clark, Dakota Palan-Johnson, Jason Woodland, and Jade Buresh. Adam Glenn set a new school record in the 800 with a time of 1:54.60 breaking his old record by almost 7 tenths of a second. Congratulations to all of the athletes that competed in the regional meet. Uniform check in for all tracksters not competing in the state meet we be this Tuesday after school in the cage area. Please have you uniform washed and placed neatly in your bag. If you do not show up Tuesday a fine will be issued in your name.

It’s another exciting week of playoffs here at Arapahoe. Come on out and cheer on the boys lacrosse Tuesday as they take on Denver East at 7 pm at Englewood High School. The girl’s soccer team is still on the move as well. They will play Fort Collins on Wednesday here at Arapahoe. Game time is 4 pm. Please remember no student passes will be accepted at these games. GO WARRIORS!!!

Congratulation goes out to the Ladies Warrior Track team for scoring 94.5 points at the Regional Meet on Saturday. Qualifying in a total of six events next Friday and Saturday are: Chelsea Chen, Caroline Hayner, Maura Hurley, Denise Mattoon, Elese McClaire, Carolyn O'Doherty, Michelle Ripple, Emily Thompson and Jo Walker.
