General Announcements

Warrior Week is here! Catch a Dream – Change a Life. Funds collected throughout Warrior Week will help support 2 organizations: (1) St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and (2) The Dalit Freedom Network. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital helps support children suffering from cancer and other catastrophic diseases. The Dalit Freedom Network supports the Dalit people of India – with population estimates of 250 million, this is the largest number of people categorized as victims of modern-day slavery. Student Council members will be carrying marked tennis cans throughout Warrior Week to collect money for these 2 organizations. Donations can also be placed into one of the large jugs located in the library, the front office or the DECA store.

As part of Warrior Week, AnnaSophia Robb will be speaking about her work with the Dalit and her trip to India. She will be speaking in the Forum during both lunches on Thursday. Everyone is invited to attend.

In support of Warrior Week, the annual Staff vs. Senior basketball game will be this Thursday evening at 7pm in the AHS gymnasium. Tickets are $3 presale or $5 at the door. Tickets can be purchased in the cafeteria during all lunches this week. Warrior Week t-shirts are also on sale during lunches.

Attention Juniors: AHS is able to offer a free practice ACT Tuesday April 13th from 4:00-7:30 p.m. in Rooms N-2 and N-3. Sign up begins on Thursday April 1st in the Guidance Center. Princeton Review will offer a feedback session and that date is to be determined.

Warriors, auditions for Prom Talent Show are quickly approaching! Auditions are April 20th and 21st. Sign-up sheets are in the main office. Share your talent!

Just a reminder to all the students that checked out books from the library before spring break, most of those books are due back. Avoid those book fines; get your books back to the library!

Attention All Juniors!!!! Registration for the State ACT is coming….April 12th in Western Civilization Classrooms. Counselors will walk you through it during class time. If you don’t have a Western Civ. class, please make an appointment with your counselor.

Congratulations to Denae Hill and Phoebe Flynn on being selected as the Warrior Marching Band Drum Majors for the 2010-2011 school year. These two ladies will lead our band to victory next fall!

Congratulations to the Winter Percussion Ensemble on an outstanding Performance at The WGI Regional Competition held Saturday, March 20th at Northglenn High School. Our percussion ensemble placed second and performed an exciting and musical show.

Congratulations to the Arapahoe Winter Guard for winning the Gold Medal at the State Winterguard Championships on Saturday! Arapahoe scored a season high 85.5 points and was the highest ranking guard out of 24 high schools! Way to go performers on your first season in World Class! You all did an amazing job!

We have 12 categories ranging from B&W Drawing to Jewelry to Digital Photography. Check out the entire list of categories and get your work into the Art Dept. by Friday April 2nd. So that gives you all of Spring break to put the finishing touches on those masterpieces of yours and get them in. Entry forms are available in the Art office…see any art teacher for one or two or more!

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys’ Lacrosse team in their decisive victory over Kent last night 8 to 4. Kudos especially to Hunter Hall with his 2 assists and a hat trick. Welcome back to goalie Scott Thompson who denied Kent repeatedly. Goals also scored by Greg Colosimo, Dylan Leary, Rollie Murchison and Greg Bechler. Way to go boys! Please wish the team luck as they travel to Dallas next week to face some of the toughest teams in Texas!
After dropping their game against Kent on Wednesday, the Warrior Boys’ Freshman Lacrosse team tries to get back on the winning track against rival Cherry Creek. They're in action tomorrow morning at 10 a.mm as they travel to Cherry Creek High School.

The Men’s Swim and Dive team swam against Overland High School yesterday, and dominated with a score of 121 to 68. The divers performed well and beat the Overland divers. Thanks to all the fans who came out to support their Arapahoe water warriors.

The Girls’ Varsity Tennis team defeated Cherokee Trail yesterday by a score of 6-1. Congratulations girls!

The Arapahoe men’s swim and dive team is hosting a meet against Overland High School, today, Thursday the 18th at 4:30 pm in the pool. Come support your men’s swim and dive team!

"The girls' JV lacrosse team got their season underway last night with an outstanding 10-7 victory over Air Academy. Their next game is against Columbine on Friday at Newton Middle School. Great job lady Warriors!"

Yesterday the AHS Varsity Girls Lacrosse Team fell 8-17 to last year's state champion Air Academy team. Leading the warrior goal scoring efforts were Sydney Engelhart and Rachel Sutton with 3 goals each, rounded out with a goal each from Shannan Pullara and Amber Olsen. Goalie Chloe Williams saw a total of 36 shots, saving 19. Come on out for the next game against Eaglecrest tomorrow, 4:30pm, at Newton Middle School. Go Warriors!

Congratulations to the JV Girls’ Golf Team for placing 1st in the tournament yesterday. Julia Goldsmith, Marissa Scott and Kelsey Campagnola all shot their lowest scores and helped the team to victory. Remember...girls are the best drivers! Way to go ladies!

The Girls’ Varsity Tennis team lost to Cherry Creek yesterday by a score of 6-1. The JV team won 13-1. Come out to the Arapahoe courts tomorrow to see your varsity go up against Cherokee Trail. The JV will play at Powell. Help support your local tennis team!

The Boys Lacrosse Varsity 2 team compete today with Fort Collins High School at 5:00pm in Fort Collins. Cheer on another Warriors Lacrosse Victory!

Congratulations to the Arapahoe Color Guard for placing 2nd at this past Saturday's Winter Guard Competition at Lakewood HS! Arapahoe was most definitely the crowd favorite performing their trademark equipment tricks, high tosses, amazing body lifts and rocking out their show, "Speaking in Tongues".
An amazing job to all the performers scoring a season high 76.9 points in WORLD CLASS. Way to go ACG!

Congratulations to both the boys and girls track teams for their victories this past weekend in The City Challenge Track & Field Meet. The city of Littleton had a decisive Victory over the city of Fort Collins with the girls winning by a score of 340.5 to 284.5 and the boys won with a score of 377 to 237. A special congratulations goes out to freshman Taryn Phipps for breaking the previous school record in the 400m dash of 49.60 by running a time of 48.65. Great Job Warrior Track & Field!

FBLA we have a very important meeting today after school in room S1 to fill 1,200 Easter eggs. Please come and help make a difference in our community!

There will be a short MANDATORY meeting after school today promptly @ 2:25 in E10 for any TSA member that qualified for Nationals and is interested in attending the National TSA Conference this June. If you are interested in going, you must be at this meeting… no exceptions!

Athletics

The Freshman Boys Lacrosse team easily handled Chatfield last Friday. They beat them 8-3 to run their record to 2 wins and no losses.

Arapahoe Men’s Swim team swam against Lewis Palmer and Ft. Collins. Arapahoe placed second in the meet and had many great swims. In diving, Jacob Marshal placed second and Connor Bo got third. State Qualifiers include junior Silas Getz in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle.

Tonight our state winning Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse team will take on Littleton. The game will be held at LPS stadium at 7:00 p.m. Come cheer them on, as they go for another victory!

Congratulations to our talented mathematicians! Tom Roberts earned a very high score on the American Mathematics Competition, AMC-12. He qualifies to participate in the prestigious American Invitational Math Exam. Other top scoring students who represent Arapahoe’s AMC-12 team include: Jasmine Griffin, Alexandra Abt and Sarah Cheney. Bridget Louis earned the highest score on the AMC-10. Great job to our AHS Mathematical Warriors!

Congratulations to the Wind Ensemble on being selected to perform at the State Concert Band Festival in April!

Tonight come out and enjoy our wonderful Concert Bands as they present the annual Spring Festival Concert in the Arapahoe HS Theater. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and includes small ensembles, as well as our 3 Concert Bands. There is no admission charge.

AHS Parent Survey

Dear Arapahoe Parent,

Attention tennis fans, come on out to the Arapahoe courts today to see your Varsity Tennis team go up against Columbine at 3:30. The JV will start at the same time at Powell Middle School. Come on out and support your Girls’ Tennis teams.

The Swim Waiver will be given for AHS students on Friday, March 12th beginning @ 6:00am in the pool. Bring your own goggles and towel. See Mrs. Leyden if you have any questions. Information regarding the swim waiver and what will be tested is available in the counseling office. Current 2nd semester seniors may not take the test.

All Special Olympic basketball partners need to turn in their basketball uniforms to room S6 by Friday, March 12th.

General Announcements

Attention juniors and sophomores. Remember PSEO applications for fall college classes are due to your Guidance Counselor by 3pm on Friday, March 12th. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to take college classes! See Mrs. Boyce in Guidance if you have any questions.

Hey there NHS members. Don't forget our short meeting after school today in the forum.

Students who still need to pick up their graduation announcements are asked to please see Mrs. Sisler in the Guidance Center.

Hey Juniors and Seniors! The time is already approaching! Yes, that’s right; this is your chance to nominate Junior and Senior Class Prom Royalty for the 2010 Prom Dance. Nominations will be held on Tuesday, March 16th in the cafeteria during EVERY period. Don’t miss out!

Athletics

Congratulations to AHS Girls Golf for winning the first Centennial League Tournament of the season yesterday at Lone Tree. Leading the Warriors and their scores: Claudia Davis, 75; Katy Dyachkova, 77; Sarah Moore, 78 and Becky Gutknecht, 90.

There will be a mandatory meeting for all girls who made the tennis team, along with their parents, tonight at 6:30 pm in the forum. Every girl on varsity or junior varsity must attend.

Attention Warriors trying out for JV and Varsity Cheerleading for the 2010-2011 school year, please remember to turn in your physical and application forms to the Athletic Office no later than this Friday, March 12th. Extra forms are available in the Athletic Office. Please see Mrs. Pramenko if you have any questions.

The Swim Waiver will be given for AHS students on Friday, March 12th beginning @ 6:00am in the pool. Bring your own goggles and towel. See Mrs. Leyden if you have any questions. Information regarding the swim waiver and what will be tested is available in the counseling office. Current 2nd semester seniors may not take the test.

All Special Olympic basketball partners need to turn in their basketball uniforms to room S6 by Friday, March 12th.

Congratulations to the Winter Percussion Ensemble on another outstanding performance, this time at the Legacy High School Invitational held last Saturday. The Ensemble earned a VERY close second place finish.

Congratulations to the Boys Lacrosse Varsity Two team. Yesterday they were victorious in their first game of the season against Boulder's Monarch High School. In a close contest, the game winning goal was made in the last minute of the game by Kiely O'Connor.

Congratulations to the Boys’ JV Lacrosse Team on their win against Monarch last night! Come out this Saturday and cheer them on as they host Steamboat Springs at Powell Middle School at 1 PM. Go Warriors!

General Announcements

Congratulations to the Arapahoe Color Guard for placing 1st at this past Saturday's Winter Guard Competition at Sand Creek HS! Arapahoe is performing for the first year in the prestigious WORLD CLASS. Its the highest class that a Winter Guard can compete in. An amazing job to all the performers scoring a season high 74.9 points. Way to go!

Athletics
Congratulations to the Boys’ JV Lacrosse Team on their exciting overtime win against Smoky Hill last Thursday! Come out this afternoon to cheer them on as they host Monarch at Powell Middle School at 4 PM.

Congratulations to the Arapahoe Warrior Level 3 Lacrosse team. They beat Smoky Hill 5-2 last Saturday. They'll try to run their record to 2-0 when they play at Chatfield HS this Friday.
Tonight is the first game for the New, Boys Lacrosse Varsity 2 team. They play this afternoon against Monarch High School from Boulder Colorado. Come by at 4:00 pm at Powell Middle School to cheer on Varsity 2 Arapahoe Lacrosse!

If you are interested in playing in this annual classic, please pick up an application from Mr. Brandberg, Mrs. Lee or your senior class president Stephanie Curtis. Hurry – the applications are due by this Thursday, March 4th. Please see Mr. Brandberg, Mrs. Lee or Stephanie Curtis for further questions.”

Attention all students: CSAP testing for Freshmen and Sophomores will begin Monday, March 8th through Thursday, March 11th. Room assignments will be posted today in the Cafeteria and Trophy Hall. Please check your room assignment in advance and come to the Attendance Office if you have any questions.

Printing in the library has changed! Papers will be automatically printed two-sided.
The first two pieces of paper are free. Each piece of paper beyond two will cost ten cents per page.
*This will probably save you money. **If you need to print single-sided only or something special like a brochure, see one of the library staff members for assistance.

Athletics
The boys basketball team will take on Regis in an exciting “Great 8” game on Friday, March 5th at 7:00 pm at the Denver Coliseum. Ticket prices will be $8 for adults and $6 for students. We will be taking school “Spirit” buses to the game for all our Warriors traveling to cheer on the players. A bus tickets is only $5 and can be purchased at lunch today (parking will start at $8 if you drive yourself to the game). Make sure to buy your bus ticket today at lunch, be prepared to wear your black for our “Black Out” section at the game, be at the school by 4:45 pm on Friday to load the bus and head down to the game with your fellow Warriors. The $8 admission price for the game will be paid at the door when you arrive at the Coliseum. Go Warriors

The Level 3 boys lacrosse team kicks off their season this Saturday morning at 10am. Go to Powell Middle School to watch our Level 3 Arapahoe boys play conference rival Smoky Hill. Good luck."

Congratulations to all three concert bands on outstanding performances at the Metro State College festival held yesterday. The concert and symphonic bands earned solid excellent ratings, while the wind ensemble earned a unanimous superior rating.

The boy’s basketball team fought to the end last night and came out with an exciting win over Denver East last night. They are now going to take on Regis in a “Great 8” game on Friday, March 5th at 7:00 pm at the Denver Coliseum. Ticket prices will be $8 for adults and $6 for students. Look for more information given at lunches today in the cafeteria regarding Spirit buses that will be offered to take students to and from the game. Go Warriors

Auditions for the 2010-2011 Tom Toms team will be on March 16th through March 19th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the auxiliary gym. A mandatory parent/athlete meeting will be held on March 8th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the forum. If you are interested in auditioning for the team, please attend the meeting on March 8th

Good luck to the Boys’ JV Lacrosse Team as they open their season on Thursday, March 4 at Smoky Hill High School. Go Warriors!

Auditions for the 2010-2011 Tom Toms team will be on March 16th through March 19th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the auxiliary gym. A mandatory parent/athlete meeting will be held on March 8th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the forum. If you are interested in auditioning for the team, please attend the meeting on March 8th

Tickets will be pre-sold on during 1st and 2nd lunch in the cafeteria. Ticket prices will be $8 for adults and $6 for students. The gym will open at 6:00 pm for admission to the game. CHSAA and CHSCA passes will be accepted but no student or league passes. Go Warriors!
