General Announcements

Hello Warriors!  We are extremely proud to announce the names of the Semi Finalists, and Commended Scholars in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program.  These students are honored for their outstanding performance on the 2012 PSAT which they took last October.  The Semi Finalists are:  Pierceson Brown, Clairissa Hansen, John Michael McKoy, Megan Moore, Joe Redmond, Daniel Sabey, Nick Sabo, Zach Waanders, and Sara Wilky.  The Commended Scholars are: John Barsch, Matt Cheney, Chad Curd, Grace Marlowe, Kimberly McEntire, and Chris Retzlaff.  If you see these seniors in class or in the halls, please congratulate them.  Great job Warriors!

We are proud to announce the name of our 2013-14 National Hispanic Scholar. Students who receive this recognition from the College Board are at least one-quarter Hispanic/Latino, have achieved a specific minimum PSAT/NMSQT score for their region, and must have a junior year cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.  Please congratulate Dominic Martinez if you see him in class or in the halls.

Café specials:  Chick Fil A sandwich and Nicolo's calzone.  Lunch:  French bread pizza and Sloppy Joe sandwich.  If you have not submitted a Free and Reduced lunch form for the 2013-2014 school year please do so ASAP!!  The grace period ends Monday September 30th.  It takes five or more days to be approved, in the mean time you will have to pay for meals until that approval is valid.  Please see Mrs. Lawrence the kitchen manager if you need an application.

Seniors, Herff Jones representatives will be at Arapahoe High School today during lunches in the cafeteria to accept your graduation announcement order and answer any questions that you may have.   
Attention DECA members: we have an All-Club meeting today in Room E9!  Also, remember that the annual DECA Homecoming BBQ is Wednesday, October 2. See you there!

Hey Key Club, don't forget that your t-shirt money and your activity fee are due on Monday.  You must have the activity fee in order to participate in Key Club this year.  For more information, see our Facebook page, Arapahoe High School Key Club.  Thanks so much.

Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors, if you are planning to bring a guest from another school to the Homecoming Dance, please make sure your Guest Forms are turned in by 3:00 p.m. on October 1st to Mrs. Scoglio in the Attendance Office.

Hey Warriors, next week is homecoming week and we want to see your spirit! Monday is Black and White Formal Day, so be sure to look your best! We’ll have class competitions on the number of people that show Warrior Sprit!!  Also, starting today, in the cafeteria, you can purchase Homecoming t-shirts and tickets to next Saturday’s dance.  Tickets are $10 and t-shirts are $5.

The Homecoming Talent Show will rock the stage on Monday at 5:00 and 7:00 in the AHS Theater. Homecoming royalty will also be announced at the 7:00 show, and the theater will be packed, so buy your tickets as soon as possible! Tickets will be sold during both lunches through Monday.
 
The time is NOW, Warriors.  The Race for the Cure is coming up on Sunday, September 29th. You can sign up to run or walk the race, or you can sign up to SLEEP IN for the Race.  Yes!  You can be a part of our community efforts to have the largest high school team and you can just SLEEP IN!!!  Join our team!  Help find a cure for breast cancer!   Go to the Race for the Cure website and find our Arapahoe team.   If you have any questions, ask a cheer or Tom, and they can point you in the right direction.  Come together, right now.  I believe! I believe that!  I believe that we!  I believe that we will!  I believe that we will win!!!!  I believe that we will win!!!!

Juniors, the PSAT test is coming. When? . . . October 16! Registration has started and goes through October 9. So, remember to bring $15 and your photo ID to the Guidance Office to sign up for this important test!

Hey Warriors! Tonight the Spear Broadcasting Network will be calling the football game, as your Arapahoe Warriors take on the Columbine Rebels. If you want to support the team from the comfort of your home, or while doing homework, check out the live broadcast by clicking on the Spear logo at the bottom of the Arapahoe home page. Cheer on your football team while our talented announcers present to you the inside details of the game. Go Warriors!

Athletics

Congratulations to our Warrior golfers, Sam Marley, Russel Otten and David Packer, for qualifying for the state tournament. These three boys will be playing on Monday and Tuesday at Murphy Creek for the 5A state golf tournament. Good luck!!!

Congratulations to the Varsity boys tennis teams for their wins over Cherokee Trail and Columbine this week!  They suffered a tough, close loss to Mullen yesterday.  The boys head to Overland today and Cherry Creek on Friday!

The JV Tennis Team defeated Mullen yesterday 11-4. Awesome win Warriors!! Good Luck today against Overland and Friday against Cherry Creek. Let's keep the undefeated season alive.
