General Announcements

Thanks for your support Warriors! Between the “Think Pink” volleyball game and Miracle Minute lunch fundraising, we raised $1,208.66 in one day to be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Congratulations to the Warrior Marching Band for being named the Grand Champion 1st Place Band out of 28 bands at Saturday's Douglas County Marching Invitational! Arapahoe scored a season high 85.65 points!!! There was a 3 point spread between the Warrior Band and the 2nd place unit. Arapahoe received a Box 5 Superior score of 90.5 points from one of the Music General Effect Judges!! Our band won 2 caption awards - Best Music and Best Effect!!! This is the first time in school history that the Warrior Band has won 3 competitions at the start of State Championship Week!! Way to go Warrior Marching Band!!!!!

Congratulations to the Arapahoe Herald staff for their successes at the Colorado High School Press Association’s Journalism Conference at CSU last Thursday. Senior Kelley Robinson took second place for best news story, 3rd place for best feature personality story and third for best photo/graphic illustration in the state of Colorado! Junior Kelsey Schuler took third place for best personality feature in the state of Colorado. Both Kelley Robinson and Kelsey Schuler took third place for best Maestro page design in the state of Colorado! Congratulations Arapahoe Herald Staff!”

Congratulations to the yearbook staff on their third place finish for the 2007 Yearbook Sweepstakes!

Students, if you ordered a yearbook last year, please have your parents pick up your DVD at parent teacher conferences this Wednesday and Thursday! DVDs can also be picked up in the main office.


Attention all Sophomores! Are you planning on going to college? If you are, please sign up for the PLAN test on Saturday October 27th. Come on in and sign up with Mrs. Oeinck in the counseling office from October 15th –October 24th.


THE BRONCOS WIVES FOOD DRIVE HAS BEEN UNDERWAY AND MRS. PARMENTER’S CHOIR CLASSES ARE WINNING. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO THE FOOD DRIVE BY BRINGING IN YOUR FOOD ITEMS BY WED. OCT. 17th. IF AHS WINS THE FOOD DRIVE THEN THE BRONCO PLAYERS WILL COME FOR A VISIT. PLEASE HELP US WIN THE FOOD DRIVE!!


Please take the time to check the Library Overdue lists located on the bulletin boards in the north and south hallways and in the library. Check periodically to make sure that you don’t have a fine or overdue book. These lists are updated weekly. Thanks Warriors!

Attention delegates of Model UN that are participating in the Cherry Creek conference on November 10th. Model UN is having a quick mandatory meeting after school TODAY in room C-21. Important changes have been made and critical information will be shared. Any questions see Ms. DiSepio.


Congratulations go to competitors at the Highlands Ranch Speech and Debate Tournament this past Friday. Our competitors brought home numerous superior and excellent ribbons. Keep up the good work!


Seniors! Don’t forget Senior Memory Blocks are due today – your parents received the order form last May.


Athletics

CONGRATULATIONS to our JV and Varsity Warrior Cheers for an outstanding performance this weekend at the 2007 AmeriCheer Competition held at Chaparral High School on Saturday. Both teams performed nearly flawless routines, and the JV earned second place in their division, and the Varsity captured first place. Way to go Warrior Cheers! Good luck to the Varsity team who will compete on the 27th of this month at the UCA Regional Competition in Pueblo.

The Boy’s Varsity Tennis team took 6th place at the State Tennis Tournament over the weekend. Dan Johnson and Eric Law took 3rd place at number 1 doubles and Jeff Maxey and Wade Schutte took 4th place at the number 2 doubles position. This is the best showing for the tennis team in 10 years! Congratulations to all of the tennis team members for a great season.

Congratulations to the Freshmen Black Volleyball team on third place finish at their tournament this weekend.

Congratulations to the cross country team for winning the Boys Continental League Championships and for our girls taking 2nd Place. All Fresh\Soph & Varsity runners should be out at the Circle Drive today at 2:30 to leave for the meet.

Attention swimmers and divers: If you are interested in going out for either the boys or girls swimming or diving team, please attend the following meetings. The boys swimmers and divers will meet today. The girls will meet in the pool area on Tuesday October 16th. Each meeting will be go from 2:25 - 2:40

AHS Special Olympics Basketball is almost ready to start!
Any seniors who are interested in participating should come to room S-6 and see Mrs. Pepe for an application. Practices start at the end of November and the season runs through the first week of March. We practice once or twice a week at AHS in the evening.

Student Initiated Groups-

If you are a political junkie or would love to learn more about politics, get involved and join the Arapahoe Young Democrats. Our first meeting will be in C6 after school on Wednesday. We are moving in on an important election year, and if you are not yet of voting age, you will be soon. You are never too young to get involved and be part of the democratic process. Again, Young Democrats meet after school on Wednesday

Interested in playing Ultimate Frisbee? Come to the outdoor classroom on Tuesday, October 16 at 2:30 to discuss our upcoming Frisbee season. Hope to see you there.

Attention Warriors of the Word. Although we don’t have school Thursday or Friday, we would still like to meet. Please meet at the flag pole on Thursday at 11:00 for some Ultimate Frisbee and fellowship. Bring your friends. The Frisbee will be provided.

Hey Animal-lovers! We are going to the Colorado Humane Society this Thursday from 9 am to noon! It's a great way to get service hours and you get to play with cute, lonely animals! If you are
interested in coming, contact Kaia Nutting or Ms. Durow!
